Tuesday, July 28
1:09 a.m. Grand Marais:
Eighth Avenue West,
disturbance at the Rec
Park. For the past thirty
minutes, someone was in
the men’s bathroom near
the ball field, yelling very
loudly and banging. The
man was yelling obscene
things. Investigation
determined that a
father and son had a big
argument, nothing physical
just verbal. The father left
in the RV; the son was
going to sleep in his SUV
with his dog.
2:11 a.m. West Highway
61: Animal lost and found.
Older yellow lab dog found
wearing a brown collar
with an LED light on it.
Dog was brought to the
city pound. Owner called
later in the morning; she
paid the pound fee and
picked up her dog.
10:45 a.m. Hiker lost and
found. Hiker called to
report that they got lost in
the woods last night and
needed help getting back
onto the trail. Hiker was
assisted back onto the trail.
11:15 a.m. Grand Marais:
Third Avenue West Fraud/
Scam reported. Caller
received a call last night
about a car getting rented
in his name in Texas, they
had all of his personal
information including his
social security number.
They asked for his address
and wanted to know how
much he had in his bank
account. Caller was advised
to check with his bank
and credit card companies
and to monitor his Social
Security account. No
money was lost at this
time.

12:57 p.m. East Highway
61: Vehicle theft reported.
Caller stated that they had
a truck and trailer missing.
Wednesday, July 29
11:31 a.m. Devil Track
Lake kayak theft reported.
Sun Dolphin Kayak 10.4
valued at $300. Kayak
paddle also missing, valued
at $40. Kayak and paddle
went missing last night.
They were pulled up on the
beach of the campsite, so
they wouldn’t blow away.
4:25 p.m. Fireweed
Lane: Medical assistance
requested. Sixty year old
male fell from a ladder,
was bleeding from the
ear, unconscious and
breathing. Regained
consciousness and was
talking. Transported to
North Shore Health.
4:41 p.m. Judge J.R.
Magney State Park:
Medical assistance
requested. Woman injured
her foot at the bottom of
the falls at the devil’s kettle.
Incident command set up
at North Road entrance.
Woman was located and
transported to North Shore
Health in Grand Marais.
Thursday, July 30
8:42 a.m. Coyote Ridge:
Theft reported. Black Lives
Matter signs had been
stolen once, and taken
down and thrown into the
woods twice.
11:31 p.m. West Highway
61: Animal disturbance.
Caller reported a nuisance
bear that’s been hanging
around the area. Caller
has farm animals. Put
all garbage in a trailer to
deter the bear, but the bear
just went into the trailer
and took out the garbage.

Caller was referred to
state game warden for
assistance.
Friday, July 31
2:22 p.m. County Road
60: Boat trailer theft. The
trailer was described as
a single axle snowmobile
trailer with two 2×12 wood
planks running down the
trailer and extending past
the end of the trailer bed.
The modified snowmobile
trailer is used to haul a
paddle pontoon boat.
Trailer is valued at $500.
6:56 p.m. East Highway
61: Vehicle assistance
requested. Car was stuck
on the beach. It had rolled
from the parking area and
the front end of the car
was stuck and could not
be pushed out. Tow truck
service contacted.
Saturday, August 1
7:54 a.m. Grand Marais:
Second Avenue East, sign
theft reported. Three yard
signs missing from caller’s
yard: one campaign sign,
one Black Lives Matter
sign, and one COVID-19
related sign. Signs valued
at $20.
11:33 a.m. East Highway
61: Dog lost and found.
Lostdogwasa3½month
old puppy that ran into the
woods and disappeared.
While on the phone,
caller’s neighbor walked
over with the missing
puppy.
9:19 p.m. Grand Marais:
First Avenue East neighbor
complaints. Apartment
neighbor has been yelling
all day at his kid and dog,
the caller thinks its getting
time for him to stop.
Apartment management
told caller they have to

provide police reports in
order to do anything about
this noise problem. Deputy
investigated and the
neighbor lady (the caller)
was accused of pounding
on the walls and upsetting
the dog, so the dog barks
and the man yells. Accused
man feels that he is being
unfairly harassed by his
neighbors.
Monday, August 3
7:47 a.m. Grand Marais:
West Fifth Street, Animal
disturbance. Caller
reported a nuisance bear
near their home. Caller
wanted to know if they
could shoot the bear or
what they could do about
it. Caller was referred to
a state game warden for
assistance.
1:18 p.m. Creechville
Road: Suspicious activity
reported. Caller observed
someone looking into the
windows of a little cabin
and found this odd since
it was not the property
owner. Stranger was
located and interviewed,
turned out to be a friend
of the property owner just
keeping an eye on things as
the owner was out of town.
1:39 p.m. West Highway 61
Welfare check requested.
Wife was concerned about
her husband. He had
left to do some errands
and had not returned
yet. The errands had
not been completed and
his whereabouts were
unknown. Deputy was
unable to locate the
missing person. About one
hour after the call, the man
returned home. He had
experienced the bad luck of
two flat tires.
