Monday, May 10
6:08 a.m., Grand Marais: A large amount of smoke between the school and bus garage was believed to be coming from the Highway Department’s wood boiler.
8:32 a.m., Schroeder: Report of an injured wolf in a driveway near Kennedy Creek in Lake County. Referred to State Patrol.
4:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loud explosion on County Road 7.
Tuesday, May 11
2:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Forest Service notified of a possibly illegal campfire on the Superior Hiking Trail.
3:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Tree down and blocking the Greenwood Road. Forest Service notified.
7:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man walking westbound on County Road 7 near the old Gunflint Trail who was stumbling and unsteady on his feet.
10:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck near mile marker 104.
10:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck somewhere outside of town on the highway. The motorist said he was unsure of the location and whether the deer was dead.
Wednesday, May 12
12:44 a.m., Grand Marais: A deputy’s assistance was requested to break down the front door and get the keys to unlock the bedroom door, where the caller and her mother had accidentally locked themselves in. Some medication was needed, and it was on the other side of the door.
2:12 a.m., Grand Marais: A Lutsen man was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia in a motor vehicle, and open container.
8:55 a.m., Schroeder: One vehicle accident near Tac Harbor. According to reports, a power pole was struck.
10:58 a.m., Grand Portage: Theft of prescription medication reported from an unlocked residence.
10:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there were two young moose hanging out on the highway near mile marker 117, and expressed concern that they were going to be hit. A deputy checked the area.
Thursday, May 13
12:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a man was financially exploiting his mother.
12:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported suspicious activity going on behind her property over the last week.
9:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $45.10 reported by Holiday.
Friday, May 14
1:03 a.m., Grand Portage: Man arrested for domestic assault following numerous complaints about noise (loud partying, banging, screaming and crying) at Bay Estates.
3:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Canadian man, 29, arrested for thirddegree DWI.
4:06 p.m., Lutsen: Gunshots reported on Cascade Beach Road.
7:09 p.m., Grand Marais: A woman reported the theft of an expensive rug while she was gone the previous day. She later called back to say her daughter had packed the rug, and she wasn’t aware of it.
7:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance called to the pool for a man who had passed out.
9:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Brainerd man, 36, cited for speeding. 9:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Prior Lake man, 45, cited for speeding.
9:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint about loud revving engines at Tire & Auto Lodge.
10:50 p.m., Grand Marais: California man, 19, cited for speeding.
Saturday, May 15
6:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm activated at the Border Patrol office.
5:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone was illegally living on his neighbor’s property, causing damage.
7:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm going off again at Border Patrol office.Thebuilding was found to be secure.
Sunday, May 16
1:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost bag containing diabetic medication. Thebag was found in Thunder Bay.
10:10 a.m., Tofte: Smoke reported on the Sawbill Trail. No permits had been issued.
11:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a woman with a revoked driver’s license was driving out of town in a pick-up truck with a couple mattresses in the back.
3:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 23, cited for speeding. 6:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Florida man, 60, cited for speeding.
