Tuesday, March 10
11:06 a.m. Gunflint Trail: Public assistance requested. A man stopped by the Law Enforcement Center to inquire about the personal rights a food service worker or bartender has at work when they are harassed by customers. His wife has experienced inappropriate touching from patrons at a bar. The person being harassed has to make the formal complaint; they should also contact the manager or business owner. A patron that is behaving badly can be asked to leave the establishment.
1:47 p.m. East Highway 61: Property lost/found. A driver found a wallet on the side of the road and turned it in. Owner was contacted and came to pick up the wallet. Cash was missing from the wallet.
2:13 p.m. Lutsen: Medical assistance requested on Ski Hill Road. Teenage snowboarder found unconscious, was later able to move. Transported to North Shore Health with a First Responder for support.
6:58 p.m. Sawbill Trail: Public information. Forest Service staff conducted an owl survey tonight and were done by two in the morning. They were on the Sawbill Trail and then took The Grade back towards town. They carried a VHF radio and checked in when they were finished.
Wednesday, March 11
8:21 a.m. Gunflint Trail: Checked hazard. Pickup truck heading up the Gunflint Trail had a white box trailer with the back door wide open dragging on the roadway. Concerned that items would fall out onto the roadway.
9:10 a.m. Ball Club Road: Traffic complaint. Dog musher was worried about their safety and the safety of their dogs when logging trucks used the area roads in a reckless manner.
5:17 p.m. Snowmobile accident: personal injury. Snowmobile hit a tree five miles east of Trestle on Tomahawk Trail.
6:34 p.m. East Highway 61: Drug incident. Caller states that a driver has syringes, meth pipes, but no obvious drugs. Driver may be on drugs as they had trouble walking from the vehicle to the office. Driver was arrested for being in possession of pills without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
8:11 p.m. Grand Marais: dog loose on Eleventh Avenue West. A large huskey dog with a pink collar got loose and was found in the neighbor’s yard.
Thursday, March 12
1:25 p.m. Grand Marais: Dog lost from West Fifth Street. Owner reported that their huskey dog named Sage got loose and ran away. Owner was driving around town looking for the dog. Owner called back a few minutes later, Sage the huskey dog found them. The dog recognized their car at Johnson’s Foods.
Friday, March 13
12:49 a.m. Big Cedar Trail: Attempt to locate. Ninety-one year old male with dementia had left the house in the middle of the night. There were footprints leading on the walk way to the driveway, but both vehicles were still parked. Man was found but had no pulse, CPR was administered. Man was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m. Body was transported to North Shore Health.
