7:43 a.m. Grand Portage and
Grand Marais School area
details: school zones were
patrolled for community safety
and security.
11:41 a.m. Crank 911 call: one
ring hang up. When number
was rang back, no answer and
voice mail was full. Three call
backs attempted. Original caller
called back, stated it was a butt
dial and apologized.
Wednesday, February 26
4:41 p.m. Grand Marais:
Vehicle prowl on Fifth Avenue
West. Juvenile broke into a
truck and stole some property.
Witness chased suspect into
the woods. Suspect was caught
by the property owner and
turned over to family. Juvenile
stated they were threatened
by another juvenile to take
property from the vehicle.
Thursday, February 27
10:51 p.m. Grand Marais:
Suspicious activity on
Facebook. Caller reported
that someone had hacked into
their phone and their Facebook
account. The Facebook account
was hijacked during a pool
game application process and
the compromised phone may
have allowed access to personal
account information. Caller
was advised to also report the
matter to Facebook.
Friday, February 28
9:00 a.m. West Highway 61:
Animal welfare check requested
for a dog. Dog was able to move
around on its own although
it was limping on its back left
leg. Dog appeared healthy
besides the limp. Deputy
was not able to get very close
to inspect the dog as it was
barking aggressively. Dog
was held back so it would not
advance. Individual at the
property stated that the dog
does not like men due to past
abuse from previous owners.
Another person at the property
stated that the dog is fine and
has been acting itself. Someone
was able to hold the injured
leg and the dog did not yelp or
howl. Nothing suspicious was
observed.
Saturday, February 29
5:03 a.m. Crank 911 call:
male called and requested a
welfare check on his mother
because he believed she was
in some kind of distress in
Farmington, Minnesota. Cook
County called Dakota County
Communications to pass on
the information; dispatcher at
Dakota County said the address
was a storage facility and they
would attempt to contact the
male caller.
11:24 a.m. Sawbill Trail:
Medical assistance requested
for fallen cross country skier
east of trail. Victim conscious
but had hip problems and may
have internal injuries. Patient
was transported to trail head
with snow ambulance, then
transported to North Shore
Health.
12:14 p.m. West Highway 61
Trespass situation: Resort
owner established ski trails for
exclusive use by their customers
on private property, but other
people keep using the trails.
Resort owner was advised of
state minimum requirements
for posting a property for
NO TRESPASSING. Current
signage did not meet the
standards.
2:13 p.m. Lutsen: Medical
assistance requested on
Ski Hill Road. Male, 39,
suffered possible broken legs.
Transported to North Shore
Health.
Sunday, March 1
8:51 a.m. Cascade Beach
Road: Suspicious activity
reported. Caller reported that
a drone traveling from the
west appeared on some private
property. Two people were
enjoying some morning coffee
when the drone showed up.
It appeared in front of their
window, paused for about 15
seconds and then left, headed
back west.
