Tuesday, Jan. 1411:03 a.m. Speed
Enforcement on West
Highway 61. Zero stops
needed; vehicles traveled the
speed limit while officer was
present.
2:26 p.m. County Jail
Assistance: after court
appearances, two people
transported back to Two
Harbors in Lake County for
housing.
3:09 p.m. Lutsen: Ski Hill
parking problem. Vehicle
has been parked in lot for
several weeks. Local owner
was contacted and promised
to have it moved the next
day.
Wednesday, Jan. 15
9:30 a.m. West Highway
61: Unwanted Person on
property. Caller’s neighbor
is in the home searching
through their stuff and won’t
leave. Neighbor believes
Caller stole some money
and has a key. Caller has
also received harassing text
messages from neighbor.
No weapons or drugs in the
home, but suspect may be
under the influence. Suspect
taken to Law Enforcement
Center.
Thursday, Jan. 16
6:00 a.m. West Highway 61
Fraud/Scam reported: Caller
was playing a card game on
the computer and was also
doing something with their
online bank account, when
a box popped up on the
computer screen. Some guy
named Jason was telling the
caller they had won some
money and Jason wanted
to put money into their
account. But it seemed like
Jason was trying to take
money out of their account.
Jason tried to call on the
phone repeatedly, but calls
were not answered. New
pop-up message appeared
on the computer screen
which included victim’s

name: ”Please answer your
phone; its urgent. Why are
you not answering your
phone? Please reply. Answer
the phone. Are you there?”
Victim contacted their bank
and money was moved into
a new account so Jason
would have no access.
Victim does not know how
Jason got access to their
computer. Victim contacted
their computer virus
protection company.
12:15 p.m. East Highway 61:
Hazard reported. Canadian
vehicle with thirty foot
trailer dropped hay bales on
the highway. Six hay bales
scattered high and low; all
bales removed from the
road.
4:35 p.m. West Highway
61: Animal disturbance
involving dogs. Brown
pit bull mix and German
shepherd puppy running
loose and chasing cars.
Owner contacted and
advised of leash law, warned
citation may be issued in the
future. Dogs were secured.

Friday, Jan. 17
12:57 a.m. Utility Assistance
requested on Peninsula
Point: Caller discovered
that they had no power
when they arrived on site.
Lineman was contacted,
but it was a problem
that requires residential
electricians.
5:50 a.m. West Highway
61: Assault with a weapon.
Caller said that his neighbor
may have stabbed him with
scissors. They were arguing
and suspect was swinging at
the caller, and then scissors
were spotted on the ground.
So when caller noticed a
wound, it was assumed
the wound was from the
scissors. Landlord heard
the shouting, came outside,
and told suspect to go back
to their apartment. Scissors

found by the suspect’s door.
Suspect taken to the Law
Enforcement Center.
12:41 p.m. West Highway 61:
Motor Vehicle hit a bobcat;
no injury to human. Bobcat
was able to leave the scene of
the accident.
2:38 p.m. West Highway
61: Snowmobile complaint.
Caller said that a
snowmobile passed through
his property and ran over
the power line outside
his front door. Caller
was advised to post NO
TRESPASSING signs on
his property and continue
to report violations to law
enforcement.
3:00 p.m. Grand Portage:
Theft reported on West
Townsite Road. Missing
items included diamond
willow lamp, radio and
cords. Possible suspect
named.
3:26 p.m. Grand Marais:
Medical Assistance
requested on North
Broadway. Woman fell at
home and her nose would
not stop bleeding. First
responder had woman
sit down, firmly pinch
her nostrils together, and
breathe through her mouth.
Bleeding was under control
by the time the ambulance
showed up. No transport
needed.
7:31 p.m. West Highway 61:
Animal Disturbance. Caller
was driving and turned on
Linnell Road from Highway
61; there was a red fox
moving down the road.
The fox did not run away, it
just kept walking down the
middle of the road. When
caller got out of their car,
the fox was right beside the
car. This behavior seemed
very odd so caller thought it
should be reported. The fox
looked very healthy.
Saturday, Jan. 18

10:24 a.m. Lutsen: Medical
Assistance on Ski Hill Road.
Twelve year old female may
have broken right arm.
Transported to North Shore
Health.
4:27 p.m. Lutsen: Motor
Vehicle Accident on Ski Hill
Road with property damage.
Black Chevrolet was hit by
a plow truck; no one was in
the vehicle when it was hit.
Front end was damaged.
Insurance information
exchanged.
7:06 p.m. Public Assistance
on Tom Lake Road.
Notification of unexpected
death of a family member.
Family member was
shoveling snow and had a
heart attack, did not survive.
Sunday, Jan. 19
6:48 a.m. Public Assistance
with vehicle theft: Canadian
caller reported truck stolen
last night, named suspects.
Caller was given phone
number for the Thunder Bay
Police Department.
11:23 a.m. West Highway
61: Vehicle Accident with
personal injury. Multiple
responders. Two vehicles
involved. One car flipped
upside down, woman inside,
air bags deplored. Woman
transported to North Shore
Health. Other vehicle had
people out and walking
around, no transport
needed.
4:16 p.m. Persons Lost/
Found. Caller reported
snowmobile group was
lost on the trail and one
snowmobile was stuck in
the slush. Group included
four people and four sleds.
Two people were older, in
their seventies; everyone
was dressed warmly, but one
person experienced some
hypothermia. That person
was brought into Grand
Marais. Other riders and
sleds were escorted out to
trail head areas.
