A man was concerned about a notice
that had been stuck to his vehicle, but
it was not issued by Cook County law
enforcement. He was told not to worry
about it.
7:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical call
(trouble breathing) on First Avenue
East.
9:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Two reports
received of a dead deer on West
Highway 61. State Patrol was notified.
Sunday, Dec. 22
1:35 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy assisted
another agency on Caribou Trail.
10:30 a.m., Grand Portage: Medical
call (fall victim) on Store Road.
12:59 p.m., Lutsen: Medical call at the
ski hill for a 51-year-old woman with a
rib injury.
1:25 p.m., Grand Portage: Medical call
on Store Road.
Monday, Dec. 23
8:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious
activity reported on North Broadway.
Caller said someone rummaged
around her unlocked car sometime
during the night and scattered the
contents around, but nothing appears
to be missing.
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Either power
or phone lines were torn down and
lying across the access to a logging cut
off Humphrey Circle. The power and
phone companies were contacted.
8:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft
reported on Third Avenue West.
Someone rifled through a pickup and
took a torque wrench. The vehicle was
left unlocked.
Tuesday, Dec. 24
8:30 a.m., Lutsen: Medical assistance
for possible stroke victim on Ski Hill
Road.
9:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Police
transport for one person from Lake
County to Cook County jail.
11:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Medical
transport to airport from Fifth Avenue
West.
1:59 p.m., Grand Portage:
Snowmobiler stranded on Speckled
Trout Trail. Rider not injured, but
snowmobile broken down. Rider
contacted his son. Son contacted
Casino security. Casino staff contacted
DNR tip line. Cook County Law
Enforcement assigned K79 team
response. Snowmobiler was located
and brought out to Trout Lake Road.

11:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Checked
residence on North Broadway, all
good, no suspicious activity.
11:38 a.m., West Highway 61: Checked
business, cleared alarms, secured gate.
Thursday, Dec. 26
7:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Attempted
to locate someone at Pine Mountain
Court.
10:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Checked
a residence on Fourth Avenue
West. Front door secure, no signs of
suspicious activity, no footprints in
snow at the back porch.
12:03 p.m., Lutsen: Public assistance
on Moosehorn Road. No ambulance
needed, two vehicles stranded,
occupants not prepared for winter
weather. Vehicles and occupants were
safely brought out to the Lutsen fire
hall.
Friday, Dec. 27
1:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Medical
assistance for man on First Avenue
West. Man fell on sidewalk and injured
his head.
7:10 a.m., Grand Portage: Security
alarm on Upper Road canceled.
11:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Animal
disturbance reported on Sixth Avenue
West. Small brown dog was running
around and seemed to find its way
home.
2:34 p.m., Lutsen: Medical assistance
on Ski Hill Road. Fourteen year old
with cracked helmet showing signs of
concussion.
Saturday, Dec. 28
7:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Animal
disturbance on County Road 7. Dead
wolf found on the road.
8:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Probation
check on County Road 7. No answer at
the door.
10:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
prowl on Third Street. White male
observed looking inside vehicles
parked near the courthouse and the
laundromat. No attempt to break into
the vehicles was observed.
10:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking
problem reported on East Highway 61.
1:29 p.m., Lutsen: Medical assistance
on Ski Hill Road. Eleven-year-old
male victim experienced possible back
injury.
3:57 p.m., Lutsen: Medical assistance
requested on Ski Hill Road. ATV sideby side roll over, 28-year-old male
experienced lacerations and possible
concussion.
7:48 p.m., Lutsen: Suspicious activity
reported on Ski Hill Road. Yelping
heard between Caribou Highlands and
Eagle Ridge.
11:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Structure
fire reported on Store Road. Entire
family left the house safely and went
to a neighbor’s house. Fire may
have started from wood stove in the
basement. No foul play suspected.
Multiple emergency responders offered
assistance.
Sunday, Dec. 29
7:57 a.m., Grand Portage, structure
fire reported on Store Road. Flames
coming up again at the same house
that burned last night. Remaining
structure engulfed in flames. Blowing
wind created possible fire danger to
adjacent neighbor’s property.
3:56 p.m. Grand Portage, structure fire
reported on Store Road. Same property
is smoldering, no active flames.
5:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Public
assistance. Adult daughter was
scheduled to meet parents at Trail
Center on the Gunflint Trail 30
minutes ago. Parents drove to town
looking for her. Wondered if any
accidents had been reported. Daughter
was located a few minutes later.
6:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical
assistance requested up the Gunflint
Trail on Clearwater Road. Sixty-two
year old male needed a ride to the
hospital. He was experiencing a 102
degree fever and possible pneumonia.
Monday, Dec. 30
3:01 a.m., Grand Portage: Welfare
check requested. Family concerned
about man that wanted to enter
Canada but was denied entry at the
border. Man was having problems
with his church and his wife and hoped
to find peace elsewhere. His parents
traveled to Grand Portage to pick him
up and bring him home.
7:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Medical
assistance requested on Sixth Avenue
West. Seventy two year old male fell
and is unable to stand up or lie down;
he is sitting on the kitchen floor.
Medical transport was provided to
North Shore Health.
Tuesday, Dec. 31
12:06 a.m. Grand Marais: Motor
vehicle accident on East Highway 61.
Vehicle skid sideways and landed in
the ditch. No injuries.
12:31 p.m. Lutsen: Property lost/
found, person found envelope of cash
on the ground near Ski Hill Road
and is keeping it locked up in a safe
until someone claims it. Amount is
approximately $800.
12:54 p.m. Lutsen: Animal disturbance
on South Caribou. A short hair dog
with a pink collar is running around
and will not go to any person calling
to it.
