Tuesday, Dec. 3
7:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller on Eighth Avenue West said
his downstairs was flooded, and it had something to do with
the water gauge. The PUC was contacted.
Wednesday, Dec. 4
8:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on South Gunflint
Lake Road.
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on Birch Drive.
8:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Medical call on Romans Road.
8:36 a.m., Grand Portage: Automatic fire alarm on Upper
Road.
10:30 a.m., Grand Marais: A woman who was issued a
trespassing citation wanted to talk with the sheriff.
11:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Miscellaneous fire call on
Gunflint Trail.
12:19 p.m., Schroeder: Grass fire on West Highway 61
that originated from a burn barrel. Firefighters from Tofte
and Schroeder, and the Forest Service, responded and
put out the fire that burned an area about 10×10, and was
approaching a structure. The property owner was cited for
burning prohibited materials (cans, plastic and wires).
3:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported from West Highway
61. Caller said someone stole the memory card out of his
daughter’s game camera, then put up a deer stand in very
close proximity to hers.
3:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical transport.
5:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed by a vehicle
on East Highway 61 near mile marker 114.
5:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a couple labs were
running around in traffic on County Road 7.
6:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to know if the
AT&T tower was down.
Thursday, Dec. 5
2:07 a.m., Schroeder: A big dead deer was removed from the
northbound lane of the highway, near the county line.
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic complaint on First Avenue
East. The caller said a semi travels the road a couple times
a week, and it should be on the truck route. A deputy
searched the area, but found no truck, and will keep an eye
out for it in the future.
9:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Damage to property reported
at the Rec Park. Someone was spinning around in a car,
and tore up some of the new trees, causing $200-$300 in
damage.
11:52 a.m., Grand Portage: Medical call (stomach pains) on
Casino Drive.
12:16 p.m., Grand Portage: Motor vehicle accident reported
on Casino Drive. The accident occurred on private property,
and there were no injuries.
5:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Hazard (icy roadway) reported on
County Road 14.
6:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted another agency on
Gunflint Trail.
Friday, Dec. 6
7:37 a.m., Lutsen: Traffic complaint on West Highway 61.
The caller said a large yellow-paneled truck was driving
recklessly.
10:39 a.m., Grand Marais: A credit card was reported lost on
East Highway 61.
3:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Animal disturbance on West
Highway 61.
4:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Trespass complaint.
5:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Juvenile trouble reported at the
school on West Fifth Street. Four kids were “rough-housing”
near the Eagle doors, blocking the entrance. They were gone
when a deputy arrived.
Saturday, Dec. 7
8:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Probation check.
11:35 a.m., Schroeder: Suspicious activity reported on
Cramer Road. Caller said snowmobilers were trespassing on
the Minnesota Power property.
12:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical call on West Fifth Street
was determined to be false. A woman was testing her new
alarm, and it was accidentally activated.
3:34 p.m., Grand Portage: Public assist on Upper Road.
4:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Welfare check requested on a man
with dementia walking on County Road 7 with a small
collie. He returned home on his own.
6:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Hazard reported on First Avenue
West. There was a car in the middle of the road with its
hazard lights on. The driver said the vehicle lost a wheel,
and help was on the way.
10:10 p.m., Lutsen: Disturbance reported on Ski Hill Road.
