Tuesday, Nov. 12
1:41 a.m., Grand Portage: Medical call (baby being born) on Bay
Estates Drive.
2:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Animal bite reported on West Highway
61. The owner tripped on a rug, scared the dog, and was bitten on
the hand.
4:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller on First Avenue East reported
seeing very bright flashes in the sky. It was the Taurid meteor
shower.
9:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a hazard on the highway.
10:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Phone fraud attempt reported on
Second Avenue East.
3:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle accident reported on
County Road 6. There were no injuries.
4:21 p.m., Grand Portage: Security alarm on Upper Road was
cancelled.
10:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to a disturbance on West
Fifth Street. The caller said he keeps hearing some kind of loud
construction noise, like a jack hammer. He later realized it was his
electronic fireplace, and shut it off.
10:29 p.m., Grand Marais: A semi driver parked near Como was
advised that his engine needs to be shut off, or moved. The driver
moved his truck.
Wednesday, Nov. 13
7:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Motor vehicle accident reported on West
Highway 61.
8:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Hazardous conditions reported on West
Highway 61.
1:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run, with property damage,
reported in the high school parking lot.
Thursday, Nov. 14
5:45 a.m., Grand Portage: Deer (nine-point buck) struck by a
vehicle on East Highway 61.
6:40 a.m., Grand Portage: Deer struck on the highway. A deputy
removed the body from the road.
12:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Phone fraud attempt reported.
12:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he sees a doe with an injury
on the Gunflint Trail.
1:38 p.m., Lutsen: Structure fire on Caribou Trail. The building was
filling up with smoke, but there was no visible sign of flames. Upon
further investigation, the firefighters determined the smoke was
the result of burned lunch in the microwave.
9:04 p.m., Lutsen: A bush was on fire on West Highway 61. It was
determined that someone dumped an ash bucket; the fire was
quickly extinguished.
Friday, Nov. 15
9:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Juvenile trouble reported at the high
school. A ninth-grade girl was found with alcohol, and was under
the influence.
5:16 p.m., Grand Marais: A brush fire on Creechville Road was
first believed to be a structure fire. There was a burning permit
issued.
6:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Predatory offender check.
Saturday, Nov. 16
12:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint on West First Street
was resolved.
1:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported at the pharmacy.
4:26 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off from Ryden Road was
determined to be unintentional.
7:05 p.m., Grand Marais: A loose dog wandering the highway was
taken to the pound.
Sunday, Nov. 17
8:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Medical call (back injury) on Second
Avenue East.
10:37 a.m., Grand Portage: Traffic complaint on Townsite Road.
2:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A loose dog was picked up near Holiday
and taken to the pound.
Monday, Nov. 18
2:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Structure fire reported on Fifth Avenue
West.
Tuesday, Nov. 19
7:57 a.m., Grand Marais: ATV patrol.
7:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Canine training.
1:26 p.m., Grand Marais: A loose dog was taken from the
pharmacy down to the pound, and the owner contacted.
6:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a traffic hazard on West
Highway 61.
Wednesday, Nov. 20
8:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint on Fifth Avenue West.
10:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on Third Avenue West.
2:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Structure fire on East Highway 61.
3:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Seventh Avenue West had an
injured deer in his yard. A CO was contacted.
5:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Automatic fire alarm on Overlook Trail
was cleared.
5:35 p.m., Grand Portage: Adult abuse reported.
9:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious activity reported on West
Highway 61.
Thursday, Nov. 21
1:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Hazard reported on Gunflint Trail.
Referred to the highway department.
2:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking problems on North Broadway,
Fifth Avenue West and West Fourth Street were dealt with.
4:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Motor vehicle accident, with property
damage, reported on East Highway 61. The driver slid off the road
and took out some trees; the vehicle was probably totaled.
8:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Hazardous road conditions reported.
9:47 a.m., Grand Portage: Damage to vehicle reported on Bay
Estates Drive.
10:22 a.m., Grand Portage: Child protection/neglect reported.
11:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Damage to property reported at South
Gunflint Lake.
11:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Automatic fire alarm on Wisconsin
Street was false.
2:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Livestock complaint on Fall River Road.
The cows were out of the fence, and the owner was notified and
brought them back in.
3:11 p.m., Hovland: Hazardous conditions reported on North
Road.
Friday, Nov. 22
5:59 a.m., Grand Portage: Security alarm on Upper Road was
determined to be false.
10:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Property lost/found on Gunflint Trail.
1:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Suicide threat.
1:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Adult abuse reported.
6:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic complaint on Eighth Avenue
West. The perpetrator was not located. The caller said the driver
was driving recklessly through town and passing people.
Saturday, Nov. 23
8:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Automatic fire alarm on 11th Avenue
West was cleared.
10:15 a.m., Grand Marais: A lakeside deer was hit on West
Highway 61.

6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on Birch Drive. A hunter
shot a deer, but it went onto private property and help was needed
to track it.
10:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from the Gunflint Trail said a
large white dog was just at her house. Is the owner looking for it?
11:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint regarding an intoxicated
person on First Avenue West.
Sunday, Nov. 24
1:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch off Devil Track Road.
There were no injuries reported.
10:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Automatic fire alarm on West Highway
61.
12:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was given information on the
passing laws in light of the new speed limits on the highway.
1:01 p.m., Lutsen: Medical call (trauma and internal bleeding) at
the ski hill.
1:28 p.m., Grand Marais: A credit card was found at Java Moose.
10:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Motor vehicle accident with an animal
on East Highway 61.
11:35 p.m., Grand Portage: Medical call on Townsite Road.
11:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Motor vehicle accident with an animal.
Monday, Nov. 25
7:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Animal disturbance on Gunflint Trail.
Tuesday, Nov. 26
8:21 a.m., Grand Marais: A husky was running loose at Great
Expectations. The owner was contacted and picked up his pet. A
citation was issued.
9:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic disturbance (aggressive
behavior) reported on County Road 7 was actually a reaction to
medication.
10:30 a.m., Grand Marais: An automatic fire alarm on West Fifth
Street was cancelled.
2:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on East Highway 61.
2:56 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy called to Store Road for
unknown trouble. A person who was lying in the road was found
to be highly intoxicated. He was taken home.
3:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud attempt reported.
4:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a fire on West First Street.
Wednesday, Nov. 27
6:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Car-deer collision on East Highway 61.
9:04 a.m., Hovland: Vehicle in the ditch off County Road 14. The
driver said he swung too wide to miss the plow truck, and went off
the road.
9:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from West Fifth Street said her dog
got loose and was running around. The dog returned home a short
time later.
10:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Automatic fire alarm on West Highway
61.
11:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on West Fourth Street. A
deputy disposed of some bags of leaves that were blowing around.
11:47 a.m., Grand Portage: Child protection/neglect issue.
2:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Trespass complaint. Caller said it is an
ongoing neighbor dispute.
3:41 p.m., Hovland: Vehicle in the ditch off Magney Lane.
6:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Animal disturbance on East Highway 61.
7:29 p.m., Grand Portage: Fraud attempt reported.
9:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run reported on West Highway
61. An intoxicated man was reportedly driving around with the
vehicle’s door open.
Thursday, Nov. 28
4:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Livestock complaint. There were three
horses on the highway near Temperance. They returned home on
their own a couple hours later.
9:03 a.m., Grand Portage: Automatic fire alarm on Mile Creek
Road was cancelled.
11:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch off East Highway 61.
2:10 p.m., Lutsen: Two-vehicle accident reported on Mink Ranch
Road. Both had front-end damage, and there were no injuries
reported. Citations were issued for no proof of insurance, driving
after revocation, and failure to transfer vehicle title.
6:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch off Thompson Park
Drive.
6:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on Gunflint Trail.
8:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Car-deer crash on West Highway 61.
There were no human injuries, but the car was not driveable, and
the deer was dead.
Friday, Nov. 29
1:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Automatic fire alarm on West Highway
61.
2:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Phone fraud attempt reported.
2:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic complaint on West Highway 61.
3:24 p.m., Grand Portage: Motor vehicle accident reported on
Casino Drive. A vehicle went up onto the sidewalk and hit the side
of the building. The driver was not injured.
5:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Automatic fire alarm on West Highway
61.
Saturday, Nov. 30
2:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Animal disturbance on West Fifth Street.
Caller said that her hamster attacked the other hamster in the cage,
and the guts are hanging out and she needs help. The vet was not
in town, but suggested wrapping the injured hamster in a towel for
comfort until it passes; there is nothing they could do. The caller
said she was sad this happened, and was going to call her pastor.
11:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
7:05 p.m., Tofte: Automatic fire alarm on Tofte Homestead Road.
Sunday, Dec. 1
11:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from East Highway 61 said his
yellow lab has been missing for about half an hour. Kirby returned
home about 10 minutes later.
3:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a hazard on County Road 7. A
car was parked in the middle of the road, blocking the traffic lane.
The vehicle was subsequently towed by the owner.
6:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run damage reported to a
parked vehicle on Wisconsin Street near the tavern. The driver
headed toward the highway.
Monday, Dec. 2
12:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Security alarm on East Highway 61 was
determined to be false.
5:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical call on Pike Lake Road.
6:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic complaint on West Highway 61.
Tuesday, Dec. 3
12:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Business and residence checks.
9:11 a.m., Hovland: Damage to property reported on North Road.
12:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud attempt reported.
1:48 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported.
2:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical transport.
2:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted another agency.
2:42 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic complaint on Townsite Road.
