Monday, June 1

3:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of campers overdue from the BWCA. Their permit was for Meeds Lake.

5:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm activated at the credit union.

5:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an attempted theft of an old pickup truck with $3,000 worth of tools in the back.

8:26 p.m., Grand Portage: Reported break-in of a residence while the owners were out. A window was found open, but it appeared nothing was missing.

Tuesday, June 2

2:14 a.m., Tofte: Burglar alarm activated at Coho Café. Everything was found to be secure.

10:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to resolve a dispute involving a borrowed boat trailer.

2:53 p.m., Grand Marais: A Grand Marais man, 28, was arrested on a Mille Lacs County warrant.

3:28 p.m., Grand Portage: Grand Portage firefighters were called to extinguish a grass fire at the transfer station.

11:55 p.m., Grand Marais: A Tavern employee called to report a man cooking in the kitchen who isn’t a cook there. The caller said he recognized the man as someone who was having drinks there earlier in the night, but was unsure of who he was. A deputy located the man.

Wednesday, June 3

7:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Car found in the ditch off County Road 6.

10:45 a.m., Grand Marais: A mechanic who was doing some work at DQ noticed when he got back to Duluth that there was some damage ($2,500-$3,000) done to the side of his van. He wanted it noted for insurance purposes.

2:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a bike that was sitting on the Creechville Road since Monday. One of the city guys working in the area said he saw a man riding the bike on Monday who ditched it, and then took off into the woods.

8:28 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy called to take care of an injured deer on the highway near Superior National Golf Course was unable to locate the animal.

Thursday, June 4

1:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that she and her husband drove back from Duluth with a new couch and ottoman in the back and either the ottoman vibrated its way out onto the highway or someone possibly stole it. The caller gave her phone number and asked to be called if the Italian leather ottoman was found.

2:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassing phone calls reported.

3:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Break-in reported, along with the theft of 100 vials of Benadryl, some syringes and $100.

5:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Minneapolis man, 30, cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

6:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an 8-year-old kid running around the Birchwood Apartments with a knife. A deputy spoke with the child and his mom.

Friday, June 5

12:01 a.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of a portable DVD player.

9:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Anonymous call that there was going to be a party at Blaze’s Pit proved to be unfounded.

Saturday, June 6

8:53 a.m., Lutsen: Contractor hit a power line while digging.

11:04 a.m., Grand Marais: City maintenance department was contacted to repair a broken railing near the East Bay.

7:25 p.m., Hovland: Caller reported hearing a bunch of voices near the cement house, and was afraid there was going to be a graduation party there at night. A deputy checked the area, and the concerns were unfounded.

7:48 p.m., Grand Marais: False burglar alarm at Superior Design Jewelry.

8:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputies called to search for a 20-year-old man who left his friends to go fishing in the Cascade River. The group was camping at Bally Creek/Devil Track Road. The missing man was found deceased and taken to the UMD medical examiner.

Sunday, June 7

12:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog complaint.

1:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite reported.

4:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an intoxicated driver leaving Howl ‘N Wolf, heading into town.

5:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Property dispute reported.

10:07 p.m., Grand Marais: An Apple Valley man, 53, was cited for trespassing after a property owner caught him lurking around his cabin on Croftville Road.
