4:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted another agency.
6:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic complaint on West Highway
61 near Cascade was referred to State Patrol. The caller said the
driver was possibly intoxicated and was swerving into the other
lane, nearly hitting two vehicles.
7:14 a.m., Grand Marais: A caller said he believes he knows
who committed two murders that occurred in Cook County
back in the ’70s. Unfortunately the county doesn’t have the
resources to look into an incident that took place so long
ago based on hearsay and a gut feeling; the caller said he
understood and would continue to look into it himself.
9:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Business checks.
10:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Medical call on South Broadway
regarding a woman with a knee injury on Artist Point.
12:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Lift assist requested.
12:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Keys were found on Wisconsin
Street and turned in at the bank.
1:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical call on Pincushion Drive. An
8-year-old with allergies was stung by a bee.
1:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud reported.
3:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to speak with a woman
who threatened a lineman who was there to disconnect power
due to nonpayment.
4:19 p.m., Grand Marais: E-mail fraud attempt reported.
4:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted with a vehicle in the
ditch.
5:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to a disturbance (loud
music) on First Avenue East.
8:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted another agency.
9:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Residence check requested.
9:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Animal disturbance reported on
Fourth Avenue West.
10:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical call at Cascade Lodge. A
woman fell and possibly broke her ankle.
Thursday, July 25
6:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Miscellaneous fire call.
9:22 a.m., Grand Marais: A license plate was found on West
Highway 61.
10:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted another agency.
10:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on Gunflint Trail.
1:19 p.m., Grand Marais: A golden doodle, “Nelly,” took off
from her owner. Nelly returned around 11 p.m., wet and tired.
3:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic complaint on East Highway
61.
3:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted the Forest Service
with a man who was acting “shifty” and looking for a ride to
Isabella.
3:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported on East Highway 61.
4:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was an injured bald
eagle on the highway. A deputy checked and said the bird
appeared to be okay and had no apparent injuries.
5:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported at Dairy Queen. The
caller said a long-sleeve purple hoodie was stolen off a stroller,
but the video showed no sign of a sweatshirt or theft.
6:48 p.m., Lutsen: Medical call (possible stroke) on West
Highway 61.
8:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Property lost/found on West First
Street.
8:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical transport.
9:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious activity reported on West
Highway 61.
9:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Welfare check requested.
9:55 p.m., Schroeder: Animal disturbance reported on Cramer
Road. The caller’s setter took off during the thunderstorm and
has not been seen since.
10:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Business checks.
11:20 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy called to Casino Drive to
deal with an intoxicated person.
11:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a cat was trying to get
into her residence on East Second Street. The cat was taken to
the shelter and fed.
11:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a truck engine
idling near the Como parking lot. The driver said he was
unaware of any restrictions, and turned the engine off.
Friday, July 26
8:08 a.m., Grand Marais: A wallet and credit cards were lost
somewhere on the Gunflint Trail.
8:13 a.m., Grand Marais: An audible alarm on East Fifth Street
was cleared.
10:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on Gunflint Trail.
11:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Grass fire on Menogyn Trail was
referred to the Forest Service.
12:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Lift assist requested.
12:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint on West First
Street.
3:09 p.m., Grand Marais: A person who was mowing grass on
Seventh Avenue East found a pair of glasses.
3:43 p.m., Grand Marais: A stray dog was seen traveling up the
Gunflint Trail near the water tower. A deputy and passersby
were unable to capture it.
5:37 p.m., Lutsen: Suspicious activity on Ski Hill Road. The
caller said there appeared to be some illegal camping going on,
but a deputy found no evidence to indicate camping had been
going on.
6:54 p.m., Schroeder: Suspicious activity reported on West
Highway 61 at the Cleveland Cliffs property. The caller said
two men with a duffel bag were headed toward the fence
and apparently went over it. A deputy found the vehicle and
nobody around, and was unable to locate any people.
7:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported possible sex
trafficking was going on, but there was no evidence to prove it.
8:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Public assist on Eighth Avenue West.
9:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Hazard reported on Old Gunflint
Trail.
10:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said two men he saw in
Marathon might be the suspects being hunted by Canadian
authorities. Others present said they did not believe the
descriptions matched.
11:16 p.m., Grand Portage: Medical call (female yelled, and
then collapsed) on Blazes Road. The woman was transported to
the hospital.
