Monday, April 12
12:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Doors were found open at the library and secured by a deputy.
11:46 a.m., Lutsen: Barking dog complaint.
2:00 p.m., Grand Marais: A mother said she was concerned about a note that a man gave to her juvenile daughter.
6:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Property owners reported the theft of 90 Flexoral pills, a gold and silver bracelet and a silver watch from their residence. They said they came home to find the door unlocked; there was no forced entry.
Tuesday, April 13
12:05 a.m., Grand Portage: A vehicle parked in the Lodge’s parking lot for about a week was traced to a missing endangered person. Theman was later found deceased.
9:48 a.m., Grand Portage: Complaint about erratic driving by an older female driver.
1:41 p.m., Two Harbors: School bus driver reported unsafe passing by a white pickup truck that was heading toward Cook County.
2:04 p.m., Grand Marais: The fire department, First Responders and ambulance were dispatched to the school following a general fire alarm. The school was evacuated and it was determined the smoke was caused by an experiment in one of the science labs.
3:20 p.m., Grand Marais: A loose dog was taken to the Law Enforcement Center and the owner contacted to pick it up.
Wednesday, April 14
5:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Prescription drug investigation.
Thursday, April 15
8:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a black pickup truck westbound on Highway 61 from 8th Avenue West at a high rate of speed without its headlights on.
2:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost red leather wallet in Holiday’s parking lot.
4:55 p.m., Lutsen: Grass fire on Highway 61 between Caribou Trail and Clearview.
5:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost fanny pack containing a wallet.
8:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked to speak to a deputy regarding his son, who had been climbing cliffs, fell and hit his head.
10:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck near the old sawmill and bus turnaround.
Friday, April 16
8:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Residential burglar alarm. No problems were found.
9:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Tree down on Clearwater Road. Reported to the Highway Department.
3:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Tree down and on utility lines on the Gunflint Trail about 15-20 miles from town. Highway Department notified.
3:36 p.m., Schroeder: Dead deer in the middle of the highway near the county line, creating a traffic hazard. A passing motorist removed it from the road before State Patrol arrived.
5:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern about a group of four men camping at Trail’s End who were asking about campfires despite the wind and red flag warning. One of the men was also smoking and flicked a butt into pine needles. A deputy was asked by the Forest Service to check the area during the night to make sure the fires were under control.
5:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Firefighters from Maple Hill, the Forest Service and the DNR were dispatched to investigate a plume of smoke rising on the south side of Devil Track Lake. It was determined the smoke was coming from an outdoor wood boiler on the Meridian Road.
7:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Gunflint Trail firefighters extinguished a grass fire on Sag Lake Trail. It was caused by a downed power line.
Saturday, April 17
3:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence.
9:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of loose llamas on County Road 7.
10:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 72, cited for speeding.
5:30 p.m., Tofte: Report of buildings broken into, unknown if anything was taken.
11:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
Sunday, April 18
10:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 64, cited for speeding.
11:38 a.m., Lutsen: Barking dog complaint. 11:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
4:50 p.m., Colvill: DNR firefighters put out a brush fire on Linnell Road.
