Monday, April 5

9:04, Tofte: Report of an older man with a beard driving and passing unsafely. He was seen at Holiday a few minutes later.

4:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais woman, 33, cited for no proof of insurance.

Tuesday, April 6

8:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Someone noticed that the screen door was missing and a couple windows were broken at the old border crossing building. Border Patrol notified.

Wednesday, April 7

9:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Report from the clinic that a woman modified a prescription.

3:07 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a break-in at a vacant rental property. Thescreen was popped off, but there was no other damage. It was learned that a former tenant had taken the screen off to get in and retrieve some of his things, so there was no break-in.

3:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal dumping at Pike Lake gravel pit, someone dumped a love seat. TheForest Service was also notified.

5:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Grass fire in the ditch near a power pole on Margaret’s Road.

11:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Portage man, 60, arrested for DWI.

Thursday, April 8

12:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Anonymous caller reporting two unregistered ATVs being pulled by sled dogs on Trout Lake Road, which is closed to ATVs.

4:18 p.m., Schroeder: Trooper notified of a speeding gray car with Wisconsin plates that was passing unsafely near Sugarloaf.

4:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Pick-up with Ontario plates seen traveling at a high rate of speed into Grand Marais.

Friday, April 9

6:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Numerous callers reported three llamas running on County Road 7 near County Road 13. Messages were left with the owners.

Saturday, April 10

7:23 a.m., Grand Marais: The fire department began a house burning/training exercise along with Colvill and Maple Hill.

3:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of suspicious activity at the house that burned down during reconstruction last year near Sag Lake. Thecaller said he heard voices and saw some people who fled when they noticed him looking at them.

8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.

10:26 p.m., Lutsen: St. Paul man arrested for DWI. Four other men were also cited for possession of marijuana and open bottle violations.

10:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint about loud music coming from Gateway Lodge at all hours of the night.

Sunday, April 11

8:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that owners were mistreating their sled dogs was unfounded.

8:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Injured deer in the ditch on County Road 45 was dispatched.

12:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.

2:13 p.m., Grand Marais: The hospital reported that they had treated a dog bite victim, who had gone to Duluth for further treatment. The victim said she was dog sitting as she had done many times before and the dog, unprovoked, bit off about a one-inch piece of her ear. Thewoman said she was in the kennel playing with the dog when the bite occurred.

6:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about someone firing a shotgun too close to the road.

6:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible brush fire near the Brule River and Lake Superior reported by the Coast Guard in Sault St. Marie, Mich. Hovland and Colvill fire departments and the DNR were notified. It was determined the fire was near the Brule and Iron River in Bayfield, Wis., and all local units were cancelled.
