Monday, March 8
11:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that the Howlin’ Wolf was broken into. The back door was busted open and many bottles of liquor were taken.
12:16 p.m., Grand Portage: Harassing phone calls reported.
4:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 23, cited for speeding.
6:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller who wants to remain anonymous reported that a man is sleeping in his vehicle.
Tuesday, March 9
7:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Parent reported that her son was assaulted by another student at school.
8:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm sounded at the pharmacy.
12:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Illinois man, 21, cited for speeding.
4:42 p.m., Grand Portage: An anonymous caller wanted to report suspicious activity.
9:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Colorado man, 51, cited for speeding.
Wednesday, March 10
7:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that within the last two months, wires were cut on a vehicle parked on his business property.
6:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario man, 48, cited for speeding.
8:25 p.m., Schroeder: Report of overflow from a stream near Superior Ridge Resort going over the highway, creating a hazard. MnDOT notified.
Thursday, March 11
1:52 p.m., Schroeder: Tow truck called for a pickup pulling a 23-foot trailer that went into the ditch.
3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a dog whining on and off for about four days. A deputy checked and found that the dog’s owner had died and the owner’s sister was taking care of it, and had confined the dog to a smaller space in hopes that he would stop digging up her yard.
Friday, March 12
8:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Child welfare matter.
9:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud.
10:05 a.m., Schroeder: Caller reported that he lost a large bin from the back of his truck, somewhere between Schroeder and Grand Portage. It contained papers and clothing.
8:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Disturbance reported.
9:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an assault.
9:35 p.m., Grand Portage: Report that five or six people were walking down Townsite Road obstructing traffic. One caller said one of the people ran at her vehicle, and then just stood in front of it for at least a minute. A deputy was already on the way there.
Saturday, March 13
12:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loud ATV driving around the neighborhood intermittently all night long. A deputy was unable to locate it.
8:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint that someone has been burning trash.
10:47 a.m., Lutsen: Two ambulances requested at the ski hill. One person had a knee injury, the other a head injury.
1:13 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a man, 41, with a head injury. 3:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Duluth Patrol requested assistance after stopping a vehicle with four people inside, and possibly weapons and/or drug paraphernalia.
9:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a man just exposed himself at the window to the people working at WTIP. It appeared that he might have come from and returned to the Super 8 Motel across the road.
Sunday, March 14
9:48 a.m., Grand Marais: St. Paul man, 41, cited for speeding.
10:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
12:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Cambridge man cited for speeding.
12:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Bloomington man, 26, cited for speeding.
1:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Reports that a couple people were mining thomsonite across from Thomsonite Beach, using tools and digging (not just walking around looking).
4:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 44, cited for speeding.
5:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loud argument (father vs. daughter) in a neighboring apartment.
5:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver arrested for DWI and speeding.
Monday, March 15
9:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 69, cited for speeding.
9:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of threats received by text, e-mail and voice mail.
12:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Manitoba citizen, 38, arrested for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Tuesday, March 16
3:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Anonymous caller reported underage drinking going on at a house both on weekends and week days.
7:29 a.m., Grand Portage: Roll-over accident on Highway 61. Driver taken to the hospital.
9:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 63, cited for speeding.
1:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Two juvenile males arrested for terroristic threats after a teacher at Great Expectations reported that an adult had overheard a seventh-grader talking about bringing a gun to school.
5:07 p.m., Lutsen: Report that an eastbound vehicle on Highway 61 was driving in the left-hand lane.
Wednesday, March 17
2:31 a.m., Schroeder: Report received that a man was in a building by the old fuel tanks at Tac Harbor, and had a bad gash on his head.
10:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported assault at Hungry Jack by an intoxicated employee. 8:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to remove an unwanted person from a residence.
Thursday, March 18
4:42 p.m., Grand Portage: Fire department paged to investigate a reported brush fire on Mount Josephine.
Friday, March 19
11:57 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a man, 25, with a head injury.
1:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 53, cited for speeding.
2:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Suicide threat investigated.
7:32 p.m., Grand Marais: A wandering black lab was retrieved by the owner.
Saturday, March 20
7:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a man came to his house requesting an ambulance and law enforcement officer. He had a knife sticking out of him. The man went back to his residence across the street. It was unclear if it was accidental, or an assault. Officers, ambulance and First Responders all went to the scene, and it was determined to be accidental; a hunting knife was buried in his forearm. Thevictim was taken to the hospital.
10:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious vehicle reported on County Road 8. It was gone when a deputy arrived to check it out.
11:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 29, cited for speeding.
Sunday, March 21
1:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that he stopped to help two men with a broken-down vehicle in front of Cascade Restaurant, and they were both drunk. A trooper responded and arrested a Duluth man, 29, for DUI and booked him into jail. His passenger received Salvation Army assistance for the night because he had no money for a place to stay.
12:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario man, 41, cited for speeding.
12:30 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a 12-yearold male with a head injury.
1:15 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested for a woman with a head injury.
2:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Cambridge man, 57, cited for speeding.
9:20 p.m., Hovland: Report of a cabin break-in.
11:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of a single barking dog all day and now all into the night.
