Tuesday, Jan. 9
5:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from East Highway 61 said there is
a bald eagle in his yard, under a balsam tree.
6:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a red truck at the
bottom of Second Avenue West with a man inside who appears to
be sleeping. He is not moving.
7:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Courthouse security.
10:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Inmate transport.
1:44 p.m., Tofte: A snowmobile on the Sawbill Trail was on fire.
2:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Inmate transport.
Wednesday, Jan. 10
6:42 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 53-yearold woman suffering left arm pain and tightness in her chest.
10:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost red Coach clutch
containing driver’s license and other information. Last seen at the
library.
12:06 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 36-yearold woman who hit her head and was unconscious for a bit.
5:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch at Deeryard-Ward
Lake.
5:34 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm.
Thursday, Jan. 11
2:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy checked on a vehicle that was
parked on the shoulder of the highway at mile marker 103.
3:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Caspers Hill.
8:07 a.m., Grand Marais: School patrol.
10:18 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
Friday, Jan. 12
8:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle into the ditch off Devil Track
Road.
8:47 a.m., Grand Marais: False panic alarm set off at the liquor
store.
10:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at Grand Marais
Motors, where an unknown vehicle has been parked since Oct. 24.
2:27 p.m., Hovland: Domestic altercation reported.
2:50 p.m., Grand Marais: A suspicious man was seen near North
House Folk School.
5:22 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle struck a deer at mile marker 78. The
car is not driveable.
7:57 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle in the ditch off Caribou Trail.
9:57 p.m., Lutsen: False alarm at Lutsen Resort,
Saturday, Jan. 13
1:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $52.52 from Super
America.
3:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassing phone calls reported, coming
from New York.
6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at the hospital for
problems with a patient.
7:05 p.m., Hovland: Assistance needed by three people on
snowmobiles who had no idea where they are, and didn’t have
enough gas to get back to town where they left from.
11:31 p.m., Grand Portage: Vehicle in the ditch and on fire off East
Highway 61. No one was around.
Sunday, Jan. 14
2:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic argument at Birchwood
Apartments.
8:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from West Highway 61 said his
dog, Skeet, just took off. The dog returned a short time later.
11:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
11:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Tow truck needed for a vehicle in the
ditch off County Road 14. There were no injuries.
12:25 p.m., Lutsen: A driver swerved to miss a deer near mile
marker 93, hit a mailbox and ended up in the ditch.
12:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic altercation.
1:39 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle was in the ditch off Devil Track
Road.
1:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near the water tower.
6:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic accident at the Old Gunflint Trailnew Gunflint Trail intersection above the hospital. There was a car
off the road, and a jackknifed trailer.
6:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle at mile marker
112.

7:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Safe Routes to School.
7:55 a.m., Grand Portage: School patrol.
8:07 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her neighbor is trafficking in
drugs.
9:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued for driving after
revocation.
9:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud reported.
1:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted a motorist.
3:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Safe Routes to School.
6:04 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a dead deer on the highway near
Tac Harbor.
Wednesday, Jan. 17
7:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Court security.
11:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Attempted credit card scam reported.
5:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an aggressive dog on West First
Street.
Thursday, Jan. 18
12:30 p.m., Tofte: Deer struck by a car on the highway at mile
marker 83.
4:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued for speeding.
7:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller’s son was yelling and screaming.
Something on the news may have triggered the anger.
8:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a moose in the ditch near
Gunflint Lodge.
9:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch, no occupants, near
Devil Track Campground.
Friday, Jan. 19
1:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud argument reported on Fifth Avenue
West.
1:27 a.m., Grand Portage: Alarm set off at the Heritage Center.
7:18 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm.
10:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller’s dog, Skeet, ran off about an
hour ago from his West Highway 61 residence.
1:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller whose vehicle was impounded
wanted to know what she needs to do to get the vehicle back.
2:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Vandalism reported.
3:15 p.m., Hovland: Caller locked himself out of his car.
5:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a black-and-white dog
running around near the library.
6:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to speak with a deputy
about an encounter she had in the co-op.
10:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in a snowbank off West
Highway 61.
Saturday, Jan. 20
12:15 a.m., Lutsen: Report of a stolen coat from Papa Charlie’s.
12:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Truck in the ditch at County Road
60-Devil Track Road.
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle struck and killed a deer on West
Highway 61. Transferred to State Patrol.
9:14 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin Bay.
2:07 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 9-year-old
female who was involved in a snowboarder-skier collision.
