Monday, Aug. 21
10:01 a.m., Grand Marais: A wallet
was found at the business
park and turned in to the
Law Enforcement Center.
11:28 a.m., Tofte: Traffic
citation issued for passing
on the right.
12:15 p.m., Grand Marais:
Deputies were on the lookout
for a white van that drove off
from Super America with
the gas hose attached.
The owner was being
sought to pay for the
damage.
2:17 p.m., Grand
Marais: A vehicle was
stuck in the ditch at
Harmon Sever Road-
Pike Lake Road.
2:36 p.m., Grand Marais:
A trailer was damaged at the
Rec Park.
3:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Family
custody issue.
4:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A person
flagged down a deputy to request
assistance at Lullaby Creek Road-
Gunflint Trail. His vehicle was stuck
about five miles in on Lullaby Creek
Road, and one person is diabetic
and needed insulin soon. A tow
truck was contacted and responded.
4:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
from School House Road said there
are three pigs in her yard eating her
strawberries.
5:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Report
of heavy white smoke on South
Clearwater Road.
Tuesday, Aug. 22
8:03 a.m., Hovland: Caller said her
mother and sister are selling off her
belongings.
10:28 a.m., Grand Portage:
Complaint about ATVs going
around the gate to Mount Rose and
destroying vegetation.
10:33 a.m., Grand Marais: A big
ladder fell off a westbound pick-up
truck.
11:16 a.m., Tofte: A motorcyclist
struck a deer on Highway 61. No
injuries reported.
1:05 a.m., Hovland: Call expressed
concern for two dogs chained to a
kennel on the Arrowhead Trail.
2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there are four young boys riding on
the tennis courts and being mouthy.
4:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Citation
issued for driving after suspension.
6:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Power
voltage problems on Hungry Jack
Road.
7:06 p.m., Grand Portage: Motorist
assist.

Wednesday, Aug. 23
10:31 a.m., Grand Marais: The
caller’s dog was attacked by another
dog at Trout Lake Resort. The
owners will work it out between
themselves.
11:17 a.m., Hovland: Illegal
dumping reported on the upper
side of the highway.
12:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller
reported two individuals who are in
possession of an assault rifle.
2:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Twovehicle accident at Gunflint Trail-
Cutoff Road.
4:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
from School House Road said her
neighbor’s pigs are loose again.
4:22 p.m., Schroeder: A truck went
off the highway at mile marker 74
and hit a tree.
4:26 p.m., Grand Portage: Barking
dog complaint on Upper Road.
Thursday, Aug. 24
1:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Loose lab
reported on Peninsula Point Trail.
1:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible
illegal camping reported west of
Traveler’s Rest.
2:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller on
West Third Street said there is a sick
crow in his yard.
3:42 p.m., Grand Portage:
Complaint about a motorcycle
driving extremely fast on Townsite
Road.
3:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Citation
issued for no proof of insurance
and tires too wide for fenders.
6:18 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic
disturbance reported.
6:34 p.m., Schroeder: Deputy
removed a tree from Two Island
Road.
6:54 p.m., Hovland: A vehicle
parked at the post office was
damaged.

9:37 p.m., Grand Marais:
Property damage reported at
Dairy Queen.
11:40 p.m.: Harassment
reported on County Road 7.
Friday, Aug. 25
12:23 a.m., Grand Marais:
Report of an abandoned
vehicle partly on the highway
between mile markers 95
and 96. The lights were on, but
nobody was around.
8:54 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy removed
a deer from the highway.
11:00 a.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle
struck a deer on the highway at
mile marker 107.
11:13 a.m., Hovland: Driver cited
for no proof of insurance.
12:06 p.m., Grand Marais:
Attempted break-in of a garage.
2:56 p.m., Lutsen: Reported theft of
a rain bucket from the golf course
that may have happened on Aug.
4 or 5. Approximate value of the
rain bucket is $200. There are no
suspects.
3:50 p.m., Grand Marais: An
injured adolescent eagle was seen
on the highway at mile marker 121.
7:32 p.m., Grand Marais: The Coast
Guard was requested at the Rec
Park marina, where a boat was
sinking.
Saturday, Aug. 26
8:19 a.m., Grand Marais: The Forest
Service and DNR were notified
about a grass fire on Ball Club
Road. The fire was put out by rain.
8:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Speeding
citation issued.
3:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
cited on the Gunflint Trail for
speeding and no proof of insurance.
5:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Singlevehicle accident reported at the
bottom of Flyby Drive.
8:48 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle
windshield was damaged by debris
thrown up from the wheels of a
truck on West Highway 61.
Sunday, Aug. 27
7:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Report
of a large pine tree down across
Cascade River Bridge.
12:13 p.m., Schroeder: Trespassing
reported at the power plant.
1:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about an ATV ripping around the
East Bay beach.
4:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding
citation issued.
4:45 p.m., Tofte: Property owners
on Hoaglund Drive were cited for
burning garbage.
8:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
struck a deer at mile marker 123.
