Monday, Aug. 7
9:16 a.m., Lutsen: Game warden’s
number was requested by Lutsen
Mountains to deal with a nuisance
bear.
9:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft of a
boat reported.
11:26 a.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle
rolled and hit another vehicle at
Artist Point.
11:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
hit-and-run at the hospital.
12:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said the sinkhole at Artist Point is
opening up again.
12:10 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a dog
left in a closed vehicle at Lutsen
Resort.
12:22 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog at
Artist Point came after a girl.
5:20 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle
hit the transformer box near the
Rec Park office.
10:21 p.m., Schroeder: A motorist
with a flat tire on Cramer Road
requested assistance.
Tuesday, Aug. 8
2:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Power
outage on Croftville Road.
10:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
wanted to talk to the sheriff about
dumping across the highway.
12:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said there are dogs left in a truck
parked across from the Harbor Inn,
and they look hot.
2:05 p.m., Grand Marais: A German
shepherd appeared at Angry Trout.
No one knows who he belongs to,
or where he came from. He has a
collar, but no tags.
3:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
witnessed a man driving a green
and gray Subaru jump the curb
and hit a tree at Grand Marais State
Bank, and then kick it in reverse
quick and continue west down the
highway.
5:02 p.m., Grand Portage: Power
outage on East Highway 61.
6:27 p.m., Grand Marais: A black
Lab was running around near the
library.
7:19 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog was
found in the dog pound that wasn’t
placed there by law enforcement.
7:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there is an injured sea gull out on
the rocks near the lighthouse.
8:12 p.m., Grand Marais: A yellow
Lab ran off from a Sixth Avenue
West residence.
11:04 p.m., Grand Marais: A
counterfeit $100 bill was received at
Sven & Ole’s.
Wednesday, Aug. 9
12:45 p.m., Grand Marais: The
phone lines at Tuscarora Lodge
were down.

3:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Twovehicle accident near Holiday. No
injuries reported.
4:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Arrest
made on a Beltrami County
warrant.
9:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Bicycle
theft reported at Gunflint Fire Hall

11:06 p.m., Grand Portage: Report
of a wild bear on Townsite Road.
It busted a car window and was
climbing on the car.
Thursday, Aug. 10
12:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported
theft of a car and wallet.
12:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Bicycle
theft reported.
4:16 p.m., Grand Portage: Loose
dog reported on Mile Creek Road.
5:21 p.m., Schroeder: Suspicious
activity reported near Tac Harbor.
6:00 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle
on the highway slowed for a deer
and was rear-ended by another
vehicle. No injuries reported.
10:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud
music complaint.
Friday, Aug. 11
8:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Three
porta-potties at Artist Point were
damaged. Someone tried to start
them on fire.
11:15 a.m., Grand Portage: A
license plate was torn off a vehicle
and left in the parking lot at the
casino.
12:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report
of a lot of smoke in the area of Loon
Lake Lodge.
12:55 p.m., Grand Portage: U.S.
Customs stopped a wrong-turn
vehicle at the border with 7 grams
of mushrooms.
6:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Report
of an injured sea gull (broken leg
or wings?) on the rocks at the
campground.
8:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assisted a motorist at mile marker
116.
9:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious
activity reported at the high school.
The lights were on in the scorer’s
booth, and the gate is open.
9:25 p.m., Lutsen: Hit-and-run in
the parking lot at Lutsen Resort.
There were witnesses.
11:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud
party complaint from the Rec Park.
Saturday, Aug. 12
9:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of
an aggressive dog on East Highway
61, barking and growling at
pedestrians.
10:16 a.m., Lutsen: One of the
bridges at Lutsen Resort was set on
fire, and was still smoldering when
a manager went to check on it.

10:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
lock-out at Loon Lake Lodge.
10:59 p.m., Lutsen: Caller with a
tire blow-out on Highway 61 (mile
marker 88) requested assistance.
12:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
lock-out at mile marker 121;
assistance requested.
2:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there is a bear on the Gunflint Trail
just below the overlook, and it’s
starting to draw a crowd.
3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious
activity/trespassing on the
snowmobile trail south of Hungry
Jack Lake.
7:33 p.m., Schroeder: Traffic
citation issued.
7:48 p.m., Schroeder: Traffic
citation issued.
10:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Arrest
made for DWI.
Sunday, Aug. 13
5:16 a.m., Grand Portage: A vehicle
that was reported stolen was
recovered at the Catholic church.
9:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Sewage
was backing up in a rental unit on
Fifth Avenue West.
10:09 a.m., Hovland: Caller said he
was staying at a friend’s cabin on
McFarland and left this morning.
He’s now pretty far down the road
and is unsure if he locked the cabin
door.
11:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite
victim said it was accidental and
occurred while playing.
1:31 p.m., Grand Portage: A
Canadian wrong-turn driver
was stopped at the border with 6
grams of marijuana, 6 grams of
mushrooms and 1 gram of MDMA.
1:54 p.m., Grand Marais: There was
a dead sea gull on the beach at East
Bay Suites.
3:20 p.m., Grand Marais: A female
German shepherd has been hanging
out around a house on County
Road 7 for the past two days.
3:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
from Grand Marais State Bank said
there is a man walking eastbound
down the highway with a small
child in a front pack. The child
appears to be clutching to hang on
and is flopping around loosely in
the carrier.
4:45 p.m., Grand Portage: Arrest
made for DWI after the driver
struck another vehicle at the pow
wow access road and tried to leave.
4:53 p.m., Grand Portage: Theft of a
cell phone reported.
7:27 p.m., Grand Marais: A car
went off the Gunflint Trail and was
on its side in the ditch.
8:18 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller
from Store Road said there is an
ATV sitting in her yard, and it’s
unknown who it belongs to or who
left it there.
