Monday, Feb. 1
9:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic assault reported.
9:04 a.m., Grand Marais: A purse was found near the Birch Terrace, and the owner was notified.
8:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Suicide threat reported.
Tuesday, Feb. 2
12:56 p.m., Fire department called to Lutsen Resort, where an alarm was going off, and there was smoke in the building. The fire was located and put out by employees, but the owners still requested the fire department to respond and check things out.
Thursday, Feb. 4
2:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that while he was out walking, two dogs came running out from a yard, barked at him and circled around him. The caller wanted the untied dogs noted for future reference.
3:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 37, cited for speeding.
6:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man cited for expired driver’s license and tabs, and no proof of insurance.
Friday, Feb. 5
1:24 a.m., Lutsen: Caribou Highlands requested a deputy to speak with international student employees who were “having an issue.”
8:15 a.m., Lutsen: Lockport reported that a vehicle just drove into the deck on the side of their store.
9:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a radio had been stolen from one of the Senior Center buses in the parking lot.
3:22 p.m., 4:37 p.m. and 7:22 p.m.: Deer struck by vehicles on the highway in three separate incidents.
Saturday, Feb. 6
8:38 a.m., Lutsen: State trooper removed a dead deer from the middle of the highway between Caribou Trail and Isak Hansen’s.
10:25 a.m., Lutsen: Deer struck on the highway, damaging the windshield and driver’s side doors of the vehicle.
10:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run damage reported to a parked vehicle.
3:44 p.m., Lutsen: The ambulance and First Responders were called to assist a snowshoer who slipped on ice and injured her ankle on the trail along the Cascade River. She was transported to the hospital.
3:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and possibly killed near mile marker 102.
Sunday, Feb. 7
12:36 a.m., Grand Portage: Report that someone entered a vehicle at Elders Housing, but the vehicle did not contain anything to steal. The suspect was apparently frightened off by the owner, and fled on foot (falling on the ice once) toward Townsite Road.
9:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported loss of a snowmobile ramp between Gunflint Lake and Devil Track.
10:03 a.m., Grand Portage: Ontario man, 18, cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
10:42 a.m., Lutsen: Reported theft of a stereo deck and XM radio receiver from a parked car at Eagle Ridge.
12:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy advised of a stray black and white dog wandering through an alley.
3:49 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle went into the ditch near Sea Villas after attempting to pass another vehicle. No injuries.
5:28 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle in the ditch at the county line. 6:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck on the highway just west of town.
