Monday, May 29
5:33 a.m., Grand Portage: Medical personnel were called
to the lodge, where a 40-year-old employee was bleeding
from the head.
11:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of shots fired west of
Cascade Beach Road.
11:49 a.m., Lutsen: Traffic citation issued.
12:27 p.m., Schroeder: Computer fraud reported. The
victim had $600 taken from his account.
8:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a shed on his
property was kicked in, but nothing appears to have
been taken. However, some engine oil is missing from a
boat on his property.
8:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
Tuesday, May 30
5:32 a.m., Lutsen: Power outage on Caribou Trail.
6:30 a.m., Grand Marais: False burglar alarm on County
Road 7.
9:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a neighbor might
have been peeking in the window last night.
11:10 a.m., Grand Marais: A license plate was found and
brought in to the Law Enforcement Center.
12:04 p.m., Grand Marais: School bus stop arm violation
reported on Broadway.
12:34 p.m., Tofte: Birch Grove School reported that a
shed door was found open with garbage on the ground,
and some flower pots were damaged.
5:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious man
who has been seen sitting in his vehicle at Trail’s End
Campground for at least two days. The windows are all
fogged up and he doesn’t appear to be moving.
Wednesday, May 31
2:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller on the Gunflint Trail was
locked out of her vehicle, and referred to Cook County
Towing.
3:49 p.m., Schroeder: Trespasser at Cliffs loading dock.
5:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said three teenagers were
skateboarding and doing tricks in the street and parking
lot of the post office.
10:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of power outage on
Hall Road.
Thursday, June 1
2:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance called to a
residence where a 31-year-old woman just had her baby
in a bathtub.
6:38 a.m., Tofte: Report of a person, now driving east,
who was causing a ruckus at Holiday.
7:36 a.m., Grand Marais: School patrol.
7:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assistance requested by
the school to help students cross the highway; they are
all going down to the beach.
9:57 a.m., Grand Marais: A white medium-sized dog was
running loose near Mangy Moose Motel.
1:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost person on
the portage between Seagull and Paulson lakes in the
Boundary Waters.
3:02 p.m., Grand Marais: A person calling from the
Superior Hiking Trail got turned around and said he
was now walking on the snowmobile trail, and was
wondering which way to go. He was advised to turn
around and follow the way they came; dispatch will
check back with them in a half-hour to make sure they
are going the right way.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Super America
said there was a guy hanging around, creeping her out.
8:00 p.m., Tofte: Traffic citation issued.
9:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from East Highway
61 said her cat, “Joy,” has been missing for about 12
hours. She is an inside cat but escaped out the door on
Wednesday; she was seen near the garage at about 9 a.m.
today, but they were unable to catch her.
10:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
Friday, June 2
6:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Super America
said the guy who was hanging around earlier in the
week came back and tried to steal hot dog buns. He
was stopped from stealing the buns, and left in a black
pick-up, westbound on the highway.
6:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dead deer on the
highway near Mopar Trail.
8:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said Murmur Creek
Road has been torn up, and it looks deliberate.
9:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an unattended
campfire at Two Island Lake Campground.
10:44 a.m., Tofte: Caller said three horses ran off into the
woods near Highway 61-USFS 1201.
10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint from
Birchwood Apartments.
3:14 p.m., Grand Marais: School patrol.
5:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Third Avenue West
said a small puppy just showed up at her house.
6:45 p.m., Grand Marais: False burglary alarm at
Sivertson’s Gallery.
6:49 p.m., Grand Marais: A parked car was run into by
another vehicle at the Community Center lot.
7:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic disturbance.
11:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
Saturday, June 3
5:57 a.m., Hovland: Dead deer in the eastbound lane of
the highway.
6:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of possible illegal
harvesting of birch trees near the Pine Mountain Lake
Access.
10:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about someone
burning big logs on East Third Street the last two days,
creating lots of smoke.
5:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from County Road 6
said an outside electrical box is making a loud noise.
5:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
Sunday, June 4
2:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he could hear a loud
party on Devil Track Road.
2:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an older man sitting
on the side of the highway at mile marker 95. He had a
couple bags with him sitting on the white line.
9:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing reported on Devil
Track Road, where ATV tracks were found.
1:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two vehicles racing
up the Gunflint Trail.
7:14 p.m., Lutsen: Caller from Evergreen Road heard a
loud boom out on the Caribou Trail. There was a similar
sound around 4 a.m.
