Monday, Jan. 25

3:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Reports of two areas on the Gunflint Trail that were partially blocked by downed trees. Highway Department notified.

3:54 p.m., Grand Marais: A black snowmobile helmet was found on the Gunflint Trail.

11:23 p.m., Schroeder: Problems created by water and ice flowing over the highway near Tac Harbor.

Tuesday, Jan. 26

10:14 a.m., Grand Marais: A cut fiber-optic line in Duluth led to no 911 service in Cook County. Stations were set up at Grand Portage Lodge, Hovland Fire Department, Gunflint Trail Fire Department, Lutsen Fire Department and Tofte Fire Department to handle any emergencies. In addition, deputies were assigned to various areas throughout the county, and radio communication was established with Lake County until phone service was restored.

1:33 p.m., Lutsen: Deer struck on the highway, causing vehicle damage. The deer ran off.

Wednesday, Jan. 27

12:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to remove a man from the caller’s property. He was reportedly intoxicated and trying to get into the house.

12:49 a.m., Grand Portage: Anonymous caller reported the whereabouts of a wanted adult male. Deputies headed out to get him.

7:22 a.m., Tofte: School bus stop arm violation reported at the highway and Fly By Drive. The caller said this has happened before at that location, and requested added law enforcement presence.

6:24 p.m., Grand Marais: An anonymous caller wondered about being paid as a drug informant.

9:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that there was a wanted man at his home. He was arrested on a warrant.

9:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle accident on Devil Track near the Landing. No injuries reported, but assistance was needed from the Maple Hill Fire Department, Cook County Ambulance and Grand Marais Fire Department.

Thursday, Jan. 28

8:02 a.m., Hovland: Car-deer accident just west of Magney Park. The deer was still alive in the middle of the highway.

Friday, Jan. 29

1:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputies investigated a blue SUV that was in the ditch near Voyageur’s Point. Thevehicle was off the road but had a trailer that was jackknifed, and partially on the road.

3:03 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a drunk driver in a dark-colored pickup that was stopped in the middle of the highway. When asked if he needed help, the caller said the driver started swearing at him and said he was turning. Referred to State Patrol.

3:22 p.m., Grand Portage: Drug investigation.

Saturday, Jan. 30

9:49 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested at the border to help with a Canadian man, 17, who had 3 ounces of marijuana. He was charged with fifthdegree felony possession.

1:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost set of three keys reported.

3:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Dead wolf found on one of the ski trails at Pincushion. There was a blood trail leading to it, and a hole in its neck. Game warden notified.

7:25 p.m., Grand Portage: Theft from the Trading Post of three beef sticks. Theincident was recorded on the surveillance video.

Sunday, Jan. 31

3:04 a.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of a gambling voucher at the casino.

5:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle at the west intersection of Croftville Road. Minor car damage, and the deer ran off the road.

7:36 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a 24-year-old man overdue from a ski weekend. He was found safe.

8:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Canadian man, 46, cited for speeding.
