Monday, Feb. 13
5:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from 10th Avenue West said
the person in the apartment below is yelling for help.
7:25 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy participated in Safe Routes to
School.
8:18 a.m., Schroeder: Traffic citation issued.
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that an SUV was parked
on the side of the highway near Cascade Lodge, partially
blocking the eastbound lane.
8:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Computer scam reported.
10:48 a.m., Grand Marais: A little black-and-white dog that
was running around near Buck’s Hardware was picked up
and held for safekeeping.
12:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Deer struck on the highway.
12:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the driver in front of
her has crossed over the lines.
1:41 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill.
2:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A large dog hanging around
Seventh Avenue West was retrieved by the owner.
2:33 p.m., Lutsen: A deputy checked on a truck that has
been parked at the Grade for a week and a half.
3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of snowmobilers using the
ski trails.
4:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run reported in the IGA
parking lot.
8:15 p.m., Grand Marais: The stop sign at West Fifth
Street-Fifth Avenue West was knocked down. The highway
department was notified.
9:52 p.m., Grand Marais: A Burmese mountain dog was
missing, last seen near IGA.
Tuesday, Feb. 14
7:08 a.m., Tofte: A dead deer was removed from the
highway.
8:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said an elderly man was
driving erratically near Holiday. He pulled into the wrong
lane of traffic twice.
9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: A small deer was struck by a
vehicle at mile marker 95.
9:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Two puppy dogs (one black, one
brown) were seen running around Second Avenue West
behind the Century Link building.
11:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy participated in a DARE
program.
3:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible phone fraud reported.
6:23 p.m., Grand Marais: A deer was struck on the highway
near Isak Hansen’s and is lying injured in the southbound
lane.
10:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Arrest made on a Cook County
warrant.
Wednesday, Feb. 15
8:04 a.m., Grand Marais: School patrol.
9:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an injured deer at mile
marker 104.
9:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle that has been
parked in front of Hughie’s Tacos since yesterday.
4:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a woman in a
red Subaru near the co-op yelling at her dog.
Thursday, Feb. 16
8:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Disturbance involving an
unwanted person at Birchwood Apartments.
3:30 p.m., Grand Marais: A driver’s license was found and
turned in to a deputy.
7:29 p.m., Lutsen: Deer-car accident reported near
Happy Acres Drive.
Friday, Feb. 17
4:07 a.m., Lutsen: Report of an injured deer on the highway
near Ski Hill Road.
7:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Walter Road,
preceded by a big bang.
8:02 a.m., Schroeder: Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
reported.
10:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from East Highway 61 said
there is a four-wheeler parked at the edge of his property
and he doesn’t know who it belongs to.
2:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
2:57 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill.
5:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck on the highway.
7:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost purse reported, somewhere
downtown.
7:44 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy assisted a motorist with a broken
trailer.
Saturday, Feb. 18
9:34 a.m., Grand Marais: A delivery driver hit another
vehicle at Best Western.
12:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Two pedestrians were struck by a
vehicle near Super America.
4:18 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm.
5:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck on the highway near
Sawtooth Lumber.
6:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a minivan on the
snowmobile trail off Devil Track Campground, in about 100
yards. It was unknown if the driver had been drinking.
Sunday, Feb. 19
1:00 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy called to the casino to
stop a fight.
8:33 a.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
8:57 a.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Harassing text messages received.
10:39 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill.
10:50 a.m., Lutsen: A driver’s license was found
on the ski hill.
10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: A lost cocker spaniel
was found on the Gunflint Trail.
10:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on West Fifth
Street. The caller said there was a loud pop,
then dead squirrel.
11:17 a.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
1:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance called to the YMCA
for a pool incident.
2:15 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
12-year-old male with a lower leg fracture.
2:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on County Road 44.
6:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about a
group of guys who were heard to say they were going to
have some drinks and then go take a canoe and paddle to
Five Mile Rock. Can a deputy keep an eye out for them?
10:51 p.m., Grand Marais: A report of suspicious activity on
Fourth Avenue West was determined to be unfounded.
