Monday, Sept. 19
9:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost
wallet reported.
9:19 a.m., Grand Marais:
Complaint about people
who are digging a trench on
Clearwater Lake boat landing.
10:55 a.m., Grand Marais:
Caller said a yellow tabby cat
has been hanging around a
residence on West Second
Street for the past four days.
11:08 a.m., Tofte: Carbon
monoxide alarm
activation at Surfside.
3:52 p.m., Grand
Marais: Caller said he
was lost in the woods
near the border. He
found his way out before
Search & Rescue could
respond.
4:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Tree down
at Gunflint Trail-East Bearskin
Road, blocking a traffic lane.
5:20 p.m., Tofte: Deputy assisted
State Patrol on a high-speed
pursuit, which was terminated.
5:43 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said she
received a phone message from
a person stating she was with the
Reader’s Digest Sweepstakes. When
she called back a woman answered
and put a man on the phone, who
said he was with ISIS and he would
come and get them and blow up
their house.
7:50 p.m., Grand Marais: A Clinton
sign was stolen from a yard on Golf
Course Road. This was the second
time it happened.

Tuesday, Sept. 20
7:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Twovehicle head-on collision in front of
the school reported.
8:14 a.m., Grand Marais: The driver
of a chipper truck was cited for a
school bus stop arm violation.
8:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglar
alarm at Sven & Ole’s.
8:25 a.m., Grand Portage: Break-in
and theft of two vehicles reported.
9:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assisted with an eviction.
10:44 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy
was contacted to remove a homeless
man who has been sleeping in the
bathrooms at the state park.
12:33 p.m., Grand Marais: A gray
dinghy was found on the shore near
Java Moose outdoor coffee shop.
1:07 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a tire
in the eastbound lane near mile
marker 97, causing a traffic hazard.
State Patrol notified.
1:19 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said the
tailgate of a dump truck hauling
gravel up the Caribou Trail isn’t
closed, and gravel is spilling out.
1:20 p.m., Grand Marais:
Automated fire alarm at Grand
Marais Apartments.
3:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Drug
investigation.
4:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
damaged by a hit-and-run driver at
IGA parking lot.

6:50 p.m., Tofte: A storage garage
was broken into and a gas can is
missing.
11:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
lost a remote control dog beeper
somewhere on Pike Lake Road.

Wednesday, Sept. 21
7:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Car in
the ditch off the Gunflint Trail just
north of Hedstrom’s Lumber.
10:41 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy
assisted a probation officer.
12:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
was walking her dog on East Fifth
Street and a large St. Bernard-type dog that was loose kept
approaching and following them.
1:50 p.m., Tofte: A report of
suspicious activity on Leveaux
Ridge involving a “young shady kid
with a beard” turned out to be the
cleaning people.
3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: A tackle
box was found at Northern Light
Lake access.
4:05 p.m., Tofte: Fire alarms at two
units at Tofte Homestead.
6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
some RVs are setting up in a no
camping area on Artist Point.
6:59 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said a
neighbor’s dog has attacked his
dog a few times, and he wants
something done about it.
8:00 p.m., Grand Portage: Threats
reported.
9:51 p.m., Hovland: Vehicle parked
at Trinity Lutheran Church was
struck and damaged by another
vehicle.

Thursday, Sept. 22
7:51 a.m., Grand Portage and
Grand Marais: School zone patrol.
9:06 a.m., Tofte: An eight-foot
orange kayak was found on the
Temperance River shoreline.
10:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Report
that two kids went into the alley
window of Sven & Ole’s. The
manager was contacted and said
everything is fine.

10:55 a.m., Grand Marais:
Complaint about two
recumbent bikes
traveling eastbound on
the highway, creating a
traffic hazard.
3:37 p.m., Grand Marais:
Traffic citation issued.
4:07 p.m., Hovland: Traffic
citation issued.
5:10 p.m., Grand Marais:
Caller said an island was on fire
behind Munker’s Island. Referred
to the Forest Service.
8:44 p.m., Grand Portage: A person
who had drugs and was attempting
to cross the border was arrested and
held for court.
9:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
from Two Island Lake campground
said he lost his keys in the lake, so
his vehicle will be there for the next
few days. His wife is sending a spare
set of keys.

Friday, Sept. 23
3:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
two hunting dogs on the highway
near Colvill.
5:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there are suspicious vehicles coming
and going from his neighbor’s.
6:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
ongoing child neglect.
9:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about the loud music coming from
downtown.
10:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic
citation issued.

Saturday, Sept. 24
1:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
was locked out of his hotel room at
Aspen Lodge.
11:09 a.m., Lutsen: Gas drive-off of
$92.43 from Lockport. State Patrol
notified.
12:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible
trespassing at Gateway Lodge.
12:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
illegal ATV travel on the Gunflint
Trail.
4:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic
citation issued.
4:24 p.m., Lutsen: A male chocolate
Lab was found on Ward Lake Road.
8:04 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle
parked near North House was
damaged by a hit-and-run driver.
9:56 p.m., Grand Marais:
Disturbance at Lund’s Motel.
9:59 p.m., Lutsen: Complaint about
loud music and public intoxication
in the pool area at Eagle Ridge.
10:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said there are three people riding
bikes in her driveway and near her
windows.

Sunday, Sept. 25
10:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run at North Shore Health.
10:36 a.m., Lutsen: Complaint
about loud people who are drinking
in the Eagle Ridge pool area.
9:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a truck and trailer with its flashers
on, blocking the eastbound lane of
the highway near mile marker 96.
