Creechville Road said a suspicious truck has
gone by his place a few times, and he thinks
they might be checking out the tools and
equipment in the back of his (caller’s) truck. It
was a very, very loud truck.
1:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais:
Deputy spoke with people at the campground
regarding the fireworks violations.
2:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of parties
having sex on a park bench on Wisconsin
Street.
4:43 a.m., Grand Marais: City workers turned
in a wallet they found on the beach in Harbor
Park.
6:17 a.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with
people who were camping at Artist Point.
6:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on
Second Avenue East.
8:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on
Crooked Pine Trail.
11:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Fifth
Avenue West stated there was a large party at
a neighbor’s last night, and there were young
people there.
11:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a panting
dog left in a hot car near Fourth Avenue West.
12:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Power to the
downtown vendors was out.
12:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint
at Artist Point.
1:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his
landlord keeps walking into his cabin and
snooping around, even after being asked not
to.
2:02 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said he went
over to get his lawn mower that someone was
going to fix, and the man came out on the
porch with a club and threatened him. He
left, but now needs assistance to get his lawn
mower back.
3:33 p.m., Grand Marais: A person passed out
on the deck at Birch Terrace.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said it looks as
if someone exploded fecal matter in the men’s
restroom at City Hall.
4:41 p.m., Grand Marais: A 14-year-old
shoplifter was apprehended and being held at
Ben Franklin.
5:37 p.m., Grand Marais: A 5-year-old girl fell
at Sven & Ole’s and suffered a split lip.
10:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was with a
lost 11-year-old child at Ben Franklin.
11:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on

1:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of drunk
and loud people at a camp site at the Rec Park.

6:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a
man passed out at Second Avenue West-West
Fourth Street.
7:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Car in the ditch at
Trout Lake-Mink Lake roads.
10:04 a.m., Lutsen: Power outage on Rollins
Creek Road.
11:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a dog
was running out into traffic near Aspen Lodge.
11:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a vehicle
swerved over the centerline at IGA and hit
him.
3:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller’s daughter lost
her clear retainer at Holiday.
3:19 p.m., Hovland: A gate at Lost Lake-
Greenwood River Road was badly damaged.
6:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted an
unwanted person removed from his residence.
7:28 p.m., Grand Marais: A blue bike went
missing from the vacant lot next to Bluewater.
10:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked that
a deputy drive by and check his residence
because he saw people in his yard with
flashlights when he left for work.

loud music from downtown.
Monday, Aug. 8
1:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance called
to a residence for an unconscious 18-year-old
who consumed a lot of alcohol.
6:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a man
was screaming at his child in the parking lot at
Pincushion Mountain Overlook.
7:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
10:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed
concern for a dog left in a closed vehicle
parked at Artist Point.
12:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
4:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is
a vehicle westbound on the highway at mile
marker 99 with two green canoes on the top
that look like they are falling off.
5:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
vehicle parked at the stop sign at First Avenue
West and West First Street.
5:25 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a person
is drinking and driving around with a young
child in the vehicle.
6:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Break-in of a shed

8:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Multiple cooler thefts
reported at the Rec Park overnight.
8:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaints about an
aggressive dog on Croftville Road.
10:46 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a pile of
gear sitting on the side of Sleepy Hollow Road.
11:53 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller with a flat
tire on Old Highway 61 requested assistance.
12:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Attempted phone
fraud reported.
2:29 p.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was found
near Cobblestone Cove.

7:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to
speak with a deputy about patrons of the
Harbor House who leave their bicycles and
other items in their (caller’s) driveway.

sign near mile marker 134 was down.
9:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was stuck at
the second waterfalls on the Kadunce. He is
not injured, just afraid to come down.

semi trucks idling in front of Mangy Moose.

9:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
vehicle driving unsafely on the Gunflint Trail.
11:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost
person at Magney State Park who got separated
from his family and was last seen an hour ago.
2:52 p.m., Hovland: Report of construction
debris and household garbage dumped on the
west side of Jackson Lake Road.
3:01 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of
$38.51 from Ryden’s gas station.
3:47 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to
check on a suspicious vehicle parked on Old
Highway 61.
5:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A kayak was seen on
the side of the road at the water tower.

traffic assistance on Clearwater Road because
people were parking on the roadway to see
moose.

caused by burned bacon.
10:18 a.m., Lutsen: Missing person reported.
11:57 a.m., Tofte: Fire alarm activated at
Surfside.
1:11 p.m., Grand Marais: A rubber raft that
was found floating in the harbor was pulled up
on the beach at the Rec Park.
1:21 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation
issued.
6:56 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said there is a
boat out on the lake that looks like it is having
mechanical problems.
7:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her son
lost his iPhone while visiting about a month
ago.
Friday, Aug. 12
12:54 a.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation
issued.
1:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
semi trucks idling near Mangy Moose.
1:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy on foot patrol
found an open door at City Hall.
9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there
is a black and white puppy walking near the
library, and it turned on Second Street.
10:48 a.m., Grand Marais: A long-haired cat
named Izzy went missing from West First
Street.
12:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment
reported.
1:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible abduction of
a juvenile reported.
2:50 p.m., Grand Marais: An Arrowhead
Transit bus parked at the courthouse was
backed into.
3:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal garbage
dumping on County Road 7 reported.
3:41 p.m., Grand Portage: DWI arrest made.
4:52 p.m., Lutsen: False residential fire alarm
caused by burned food.

cows on Lindskog Road, all heading toward the
highway.

large group outside the Aspen Lodge that is
very loud and obnoxious.

of a camper at Devil Track Campground
reported.
8:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of glass
and other debris all over the highway at mile
marker 122.
8:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large
group of kids in a 4-Runner spinning their
tires in the westbound lane of the Gunflint
Trail near the Pines.
10:51 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said there
is a one-legged paranoid schizophrenic on
the bridge between the U.S. and Canada. The
Canadians don’t want him and he doesn’t want
to come back to the U.S.
Saturday, Aug. 13
8:00 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her
vehicle was taken and the person who has it is
selling drugs.
9:04 a.m., Grand Marais: The airport was
notified of a missing plane that should have
landed at 8:35 a.m.
12:41 p.m., Grand Marais: A black and tan
hound, “Max,” was found at Grand Marais
Motors.
4:43 p.m., Grand Marais: An odd individual
has been coming into Drury Lane Books and
asking inappropriate questions.
6:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
abandoned and possibly stolen motorcycle on
Forest Road 1310.
7:11 p.m., Grand Marais: A woman said she
got jumped by some people and wanted to go
to Bethany.
10:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is
about a foot drop-off at the “bump” sign in the
construction zone near Devil Track River on
the highway. State Patrol was notified.
11:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
that two high school-aged people are trying to
break into cars on North Broadway.
11:23 p.m., Grand Portage: Loud party
complaint on Upper Road.
Sunday, Aug. 14
3:15 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested to remove
unwanted people from Caribou Highlands.
5:42 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to
remove a drunk and disorderly man from the
powwow grounds.
8:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned
about a dog wandering around near the Colvill
Fire Department near the highway.
10:39 a.m., Lutsen: Two-car accident at County
Road 34-Highway 61.
11:16 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of two kids
on a four-wheeler doing donuts in the road
near the national monument.
11:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic
disturbance at Pine Mountain Court.
1:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to
know what he could do to keep people digging
for thomsonite and doing damage off his
property.
5:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of stolen
items out of a truck parked at Aspen Inn.
5:23 p.m., Grand Portage: A vehicle parked
on Upper Road was struck and damaged by
another vehicle.
7:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious vehicle
parked on Taylor Lane.
7:47 p.m., Grand Portage: Arrest made for
substance abuse.
7:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
suspicious-looking vehicle parked in the Grand
Marais State Bank’s parking lot. It has been
there all day, and the plates look like they were
ripped off.
