Monday, July 18
8:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of
damaged and stolen campaign signs
on Voyageurs Point.
10:21 a.m., Hovland: Parking
complaint regarding vehicles
at Highway 61-North Road,
belonging to the construction
workers. The caller said the
vehicles are blocking the view of
traffic pulling onto the highway.
10:45 a.m., Grand Marais: There
was a bear cub on the caller’s deck
at Pine Mountain Trailer Court.
11:06 a.m., Grand Marais:
Caller was concerned about
a vehicle that has been
parked in front of his
residence on West Highway
61 for a couple weeks.
11:55 a.m., Hovland: A
vehicle backed into another
vehicle at East Highway
61-North Road.
3:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud
phone calls reported.
4:16 p.m., Grand Marais: A rental
car was vandalized off Pike Lake
Road-Cascade River. The gas cap
door and gas cap were stolen.
6:30 p.m., Tofte: Traffic citation
issued.
6:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assisted a motorist with a flat tire.
7:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic
citation issued.
Tuesday, July 19
1:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud
reported; a Social Security number
was stolen and used to open a Dish
network account.
4:09 p.m., Grand Marais: A woman’s
wallet was found at the Recycling
Center.
5:03 p.m., Tofte: Report of a
possible indoor pool drowning at
Bluefin Bay.
5:36 p.m., Hovland: Caller said
a person has eaten three native
mushrooms and is now drowsy
and having auditory and visual
hallucinations.
7:17 p.m., Lutsen: Caller on Rollins
Creek Road said there is a large
black bear in the garbage.
9:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Attempted
theft of a campaign sign from a
yard on Second Avenue East by four
teenagers.
10:41 p.m., Grand Portage:
Domestic disturbance on Townsite
Road.
Wednesday, July 20
7:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Possible
illegal camping reported.
9:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said that a food stand is giving food
poisoning.
12:31 p.m., Grand Marais:
Complaint about dump trucks
speeding on Devil Track Road.
2:24 p.m., Grand Marais: ID theft
reported.
5:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported increased activity and
suspicious activity at a neighbor’s
residence.
5:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Report
that a man has been coming in
to the Trading Post for the last
week and a half and making very
inappropriate remarks to the girls
working there.

7:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Assault
reported by campers at Gunflint
Pines.
8:34 p.m., Grand Marais: A little
black-and-white spaniel was
running around East Fifth Street.
10:22 p.m., Grand Marais:
Complaint about fireworks on
Cascade Beach Road.
Thursday, July 21
1:20 a.m., Grand Portage:
Trespassing reported. The caller
said transients have been breaking
into a camper.
5:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of
multiple trees down on the Gunflint
Trail north of Greenwood Lake
Road.
9:46 a.m., Grand Marais: A
black lab was wandering around
downtown. The caller caught it, tied
it up in the shade at the pavilion
and gave it some water.
10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Kids
were dropped off at Chik-Wauk
museum, and the driver took off
with their food and water.
11:19 a.m., Grand Marais:
Motorized vehicle and equipment
use was authorized into the
Boundary Waters to help with
rescues. There were about 3,400
people in the Boundary Waters.
Also, fly-overs will be done to check
on damage and help with rescues.
11:43 a.m., Grand Marais:
Harassment reported, and a man
left a business without paying.
5:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible
child maltreatment reported.
6:17 p.m., Traffic citation issued.
8:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic
citation issued.
Friday, July 22
12:23 a.m., Hovland: A vehicle
rolled on East Highway 61. No
injuries reported.
4:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported that a man was sleeping in
the road near Birch Terrace.
6:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
a man passed out several times in
South of the Border restaurant.
7:32 a.m., Grand Marais: A driver
clipped a mail box on the Gunflint
Trail while trying to avoid a deer in
the road.

8:29 a.m., Grand Marais: A
white-and-black cocker
spaniel was walking
on Highway 61 near
Croftville Road.
9:06 a.m., Grand
Marais: Report of two
sheep on the highway
near the mini golf
course.
10:01 a.m., Grand Marais:
Caller lost a wallet near the
donut shop.
11:12 a.m., Grand Marais:
Report of stolen coolers from
camp sites at the Rec Park.
1:41 p.m., Lutsen: Caller reported
damage to his vehicle caused when
a rock from a dump truck fell off
and hit his windshield on Caribou
Trail.
2:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Report
that a dog was running out and
chasing cars on Linnell Road.
2:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Two
employees were stuck in the
elevator at East Bay Suites.
9:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about two loud pick-up trucks
speeding around Artist Point. The
caller said they have been there all
summer.
Saturday, July 23
9:01 a.m., Schroeder: Report of a
tree blocking the southbound lane
of Sawbill Trail.
10:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Illegal
dumping reported.
11:00 a.m., Grand Marais: A
salesman said he was talking to an
elderly woman, and she just quit
talking. He requested a welfare
check.
11:40 a.m., Schroeder: Traffic
citation issued.
11:46 a.m., Grand Marais: A red
21-speed bicycle went missing from
Hughie’s Tacos.
5:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported
theft of a 17-foot canoe.
6:24 p.m., Grand Marais: A red
sweatshirt, a gray sweatshirt and a
wallet were found at the skate park.
9:37 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said a
vehicle was in the ditch about five
miles east of the Trestle Inn on Six
Hundred Road. It was a minivan
with a small child inside. There
were no injuries reported.
10:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud
music complaint at the Rec Park.
Sunday, July 24
1:29 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic
disturbance/attempted assault
reported.
1:41 a.m., Tofte: Deputy requested
to remove an unwanted person
from a room at Bluefin Bay.
1:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there is a dog in an overheated car
at the clinic.
4:45 p.m., Grand Marais: An animal
issue was reported on Harbor View
Trail.
10:04 p.m., Grand Marais:
Complaint about a semi idling
across from the Mangy Moose.
11:20 p.m., Grand Marais:
Complaint about two hot-rodding
pick-ups on North Broadway.
