12:07 a.m., Grand Portage: Loud
fireworks complaint in the area of
the powwow grounds.
2:45 a.m., Grand Marais: DUI arrest.
2:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious
activity reported at the Rec Park,
where a white pick-up was sitting in
front of a camp site.
4:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from
County Road 44 said a vehicle drove
up his driveway with bright lights,
and then left.
5:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that
all of the Brandon Lane mailboxes
have been ripped off their posts and
are in the ditch at the intersection of
County Road 6 and Brandon Lane.
11:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
wanted to know if there is a
90-minute limit on downtown
handicapped parking, as there is on
other parking.
1:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding
citation issued.
3:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from
Pike Lake Road reported hearing six
or seven shots fired between 3 and
4 a.m. He was advised that there are
no shooting ordinances in that area,
and they could have been fireworks.
3:53 p.m., Grand Portage: Elevator
emergency alarm at the national
monument was set off by accident.
7:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
burning on the upper side of the
highway near Spruce Creek.
7:22 p.m., Tofte: A smart phone
was found at Crescent Lake
campground.
7:30 p.m., Grand Portage: U.S.
Customs detained two females who
had LSD and marijuana in their
possession. Federal charges are
pending.
11:17 p.m., Lutsen: Domestic
argument reported at the Mountain
Inn.
Sunday, July 3
12:24 a.m., Grand Portage: Report
of three or four teenagers walking
around throwing eggs at vehicles
near Holy Rosary Church. They
were found and will clean the
vehicles in the morning.
12:51 a.m., Lutsen: Loud party
complaint from Eagle Ridge.
2:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a loud party on First Avenue
East.
4:37 a.m., Grand Marais: False fire
alarm at Cobblestone Cove.
7:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that
a vehicle hit a power pole on the
Gunflint Trail and drove off.
8:33 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of
a man and woman fighting at the
marina, and one has a knife. The
caller said both had cuts.
11:13 a.m., Tofte: Campers on Baker
Lake campground reported a strong
odor of decaying flesh. Referred to
the Forest Service.
12:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint regarding a vehicle that
has been parked near the co-op for
two or three days.
12:28 p.m., Tofte: The rear window
of a vehicle left at the Britton Peak
trailhead was busted out.
2:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assistance requested to locate a
missing 9-year-old boy last seen at
the Trading Post.
3:09 p.m., Tofte: Report of illegal
shooting on Overlook Trail.
3:36 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a dog
left in a van at Lutsen Mountains,
with the windows down only a little
bit.
4:39 p.m., Hovland: Reported three-vehicle accident, unknown injuries,
at Highway 61-North Road. State
Patrol notified.
5:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
dropped keys through the street
grate near Java Moose.
6:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Person
bitten by a dog on Old Shore Road.
7:40 p.m., Grand Portage: Complaint
about an Ontario vehicle parked
“very recklessly” at the national
monument.
9:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Arrest
made for domestic assault and
fleeing on foot.

7:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Report
of a strong propane smell at the
Laundromat.
10:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said there is a sinkhole starting at
the entrance of Nelson Road.
12:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a car-killed animal in the roadway.
1:30 p.m., Tofte: A Jeep with two
elderly people inside sideswiped
a Tofte fire truck, causing minor
damage.
3:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Power
outage on Cascade Beach Road.
5:56 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at
Surfside Resort.
6:54 p.m., Hovland: A set of keys
was found at the Hovland Art Fair,
and turned in to law enforcement.
8:12 p.m., Grand Marais: A small
spaniel ran off from Sixth Avenue
West.

cocker spaniel ran off from West
Third Street after being scared by
fireworks.

10:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said someone cut off the wheel
fenders on his boat trailer at Trail’s
End Campground while he was in
the Boundary Waters.
11:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported
damage done to vehicles parked at
Nelson’s Travelers Rest.
3:03 p.m., Schroeder: A 10-weekold yellow Lab ran off from Cramer
Road.
4:19 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog ran
off from East Rosebush Lane.
6:23 p.m., Grand Marais:
Disturbance at Aspen Lodge.
8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about fireworks at the end of Pike
Lake Road, for the fourth night in
a row.

no injuries.

arrest made by State Patrol.

6:20 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said
someone kicked his car and dented
it two days ago.
6:24 p.m., Grand Marais: A sea
gull was hanging around Buck’s
Hardware, and kept trying to get
inside. A game warden was notified.
6:28 p.m., Lutsen: A Kindle was
found on the highway.
8:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic
argument.
9:56 p.m., Grand Marais: A
counterfeit $20 bill was received at
Dairy Queen.
Friday, July 8
12:18 a.m., Lutsen: False fire alarm
at Caribou Highlands.
8:57 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at
Bluefin Bay.
9:35 a.m., Tofte: Caller said people in
a gray van with Ontario plates were
throwing bags of garbage out on the
highway near mile marker 85.
12:43 p.m., Grand Marais: The alarm
on a vehicle parked near Voyageur
Brewing has been going off for about
15 minutes.
1:27 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic
argument.
1:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint regarding a vehicle on
Third Avenue West that’s been there
for five days.
2:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about the “terrible” condition of Pike
Lake Road, and emergency vehicles’
ability to access residents.
4:32 p.m., Grand Marais: A spaniel
was hanging out near a residence on
West Second Street.

from East Bay Suites about a group
of loud drunks on the beach.
6:03 a.m., Lutsen: Dead deer on the
highway just south of Caribou Trail.
8:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from
Sixth Avenue West said there was
a springer spaniel hanging around
her house today, and it was there
barking on and off all night long.
8:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint at the Farmers Market.
10:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said there is a baby sea gull in the
entryway of Buck’s Electronics, and
someone threw down minnows for
it.
10:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Someone
backed into a vehicle parked at
Grand Marais Pharmacy.
12:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint about a giant brown van
that has been parked in front of a
First Avenue West business for a
couple hours.
5:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
that the Shoreline Motel would not
let her into her room.
5:46 p.m., Lutsen: Callers said they
have been hiking for four hours, and
they’re not sure where they are.
6:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
her purse was stolen from a booth at
Dairy Queen.
6:26 p.m., Grand Marais: A wallet
was found near Dockside.
Sunday, July 10
12:48 a.m., Lutsen: A passerby saw
a woman on the road near Lutsen
Resort crying and screaming, and
was not sure what was going on.
9:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Possible
drug use/suspicious activity
reported.
11:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said he was bitten by a dog on
Eighth Avenue West a couple weeks
ago, either Thursday or Friday, and
he spoke with the owner.
1:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint about a motor home that
was parked over the crosswalk near
Dockside, causing traffic to stop and
creating a hazard.
4:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
damaged on Skyport Lane.
6:07 p.m., Grand Marais: A female
pit bull mix ran off from GoFer
Trailer Court.
7:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Another
counterfeit bill was received at Dairy
Queen, possibly passed by some kids
who were still there.
