5:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a white pick-up
swerving all over the highway near Rosebush Lane. State
Patrol notified.
9:01 a.m., Schroeder: Speeding citation issued.
9:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Fraud phone call reported.
9:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an abandoned
campfire site near Pincushion Overlook. The logs were
cold to the touch, but the caller said it was too dry to be
having campfires.
9:58 a.m., Lutsen: Speeding citation issued.
10:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Disturbance reported at the
courthouse.
11:04 a.m., Grand Marais: A tackle box was found at
Elbow Lake Access.
11:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Hold-up alarm at Holiday.
12:26 p.m., Hovland: Traffic citation issued.
3:15 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her grandson has
climbed a 50-foot tree to rescue a cat, and now she’s
scared he will fall. The child climbed down on his own,
and was unharmed.
4:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Two counterfeit $100 bills were
found on Artist Point.
6:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a person pointing a
gun out of a car.
11:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted a motorist on
East Highway 61.
Tuesday, May 24
6:07 a.m., Schroeder: Vehicle in the ditch near mile
marker 76.
7:16 a.m., Lutsen: Vehicle in the ditch at Highway
61-Poplar River. Referred to State Patrol.
11:35 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic disturbance.
12:31 p.m., Lutsen: A reported burglary was a civil
dispute over property.
1:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Accident reported in front of
IGA. No injuries reported.
10:36 p.m., Schroeder: Deer down and injured in the
northbound lane of the highway.
Wednesday, May 25
1:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a couple high
school-aged kids just came to the door looking for
cigarettes.
1:29 a.m., Grand Marais: A deputy was called to the
American Legion parking lot for what appeared to be an
extremely intoxicated person. He was taken to a hotel,
where his friends took possession of him.
9:16 a.m., Tofte: One-vehicle accident reported on
Highway 61.
11:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Avis Rental requested deputy
assistance in locating an overdue rental vehicle that has
not been returned.
4:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller on East Fifth Street
reported a stolen trash can.
4:57 p.m., Schroeder: Residential burglar alarm.
5:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a black dog
running out onto East Highway 61 and being aggressive
toward bicyclists.
6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man sitting on the
side of the highway at mile marker 106 with a backpack
and no shoes.
6:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Citation issued for speeding
and possession of drug paraphernalia.
7:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A black Lab was found on
Third Avenue East.
7:49 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with an
unlicensed juvenile driver on a scooter.
Thursday, May 26
12:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone is
lighting fireworks across the street from Sawtooth
Ridges.
6:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle off Cardinal Road,
nobody around.
9:24 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin Bay.
10:13 a.m., Hovland: Report of an illegally parked house
trailer in Superior National Forest for more than two
weeks.
11:55 a.m., Grand Marais: A credit card was found at the
Trading Post.
2:36 p.m., Grand Portage: A cabin that was broken into
a few weeks ago was broken into again. Suspects were
identified and arrested.
3:30 p.m., Grand Portage: Speeding citation issued.
3:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of burning on East Fifth
Street was employees burning wood crates in a barrel.
8:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a fire in an alley
resulted in no fire found, but a suspect detained for a
Hennepin County warrant.
Friday, May 27
6:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Report from the Rec Park of a
white car with a yellow canoe on top driving erratically.
9:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of four-inch
PVC wrapped in orange foam.
12:14 p.m., Lutsen: Complaint about a belly dump
driving fast through the 40 mph zone.
2:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of gravel all over the
highway, causing flat tires. The owner was contacted and
cleaned it up.
3:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that there was
part of a blown tire on the highway at the rock cut.
3:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A dead moose was found on
the shoreline off Birch Lake Road. It was bloated and
stinky.
3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: False hold-up alarm at Holiday.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: County assistance requested
by a female hiker who was exhausted and looking for a
place to stay.
9:27 p.m., Lutsen: Report of loud explosions south of
Caribou Trail.
