Monday, April 4
12:08 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Surfside.
7:06 a.m., Hovland: Large van fire on Tom Lake Road.
8:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported.
4:09 p.m., Lutsen: False fire alarm on Ski Hill Road.
6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible vulnerable adult
abuse reported.
Tuesday, April 5
7:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy out on Safe Routes to
School patrol.
9:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he hit a deer on
the highway on April 3, and needed a number for
insurance.
12:38 p.m., Grand Marais: A set of keys was found at
Subway and turned in to Law Enforcement.
6:17 p.m., Schroeder: Arrested made for driving after
revocation.
9:05 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin Bay.
9:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a revving
truck engine for the past half-hour on Second Avenue
East.
Wednesday, April 6
8:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a beagle or
hound running up the Gunflint Trail.
9:45 a.m., Tofte: Caller reported that there is an
eastbound semi with an unsecure load strap, swinging
into the westbound lanes. State Patrol was notified.
12:12 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
1:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy conducted a DARE
program at the high school.
2:11 p.m., Hovland: Report of a mangy wolf hanging
around a yard on North Road.
5:23 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
7:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
Thursday, April 7
6:27 a.m., Grand Portage: Power outage reported on
Bay Road.
11:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loose dog,
“Buddy,” on Fifth Avenue West.
12:05 p.m., Hovland: Traffic citation issued.
1:13 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy conducted a DARE
program at the charter school.
2:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
7:48 p.m., Grand Portage: Attempted pick-up for a
probation violation.
8:39 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
8:42 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said there is a suspicious
vehicle parked on the driveway at Lockport. The driver
got out and walked away.
9:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Customs stopped a wrong-way driver who was high on meth, and also found
some amphetamine pills in the vehicle. An arrest was
made for possession of amphetamines.
Friday, April 8
1:25 a.m., Grand Portage: A stolen vehicle with
Wisconsin plates went through Canada Customs
earlier tonight and was finally stopped in Thunder Bay.
The Sparta, Wis., police department will not issue a
warrant, and Ontario Police will hold onto the guy for
a day or two before dropping him off on the U.S. side.
Customs will notify the sheriff when this happens so
they know the whereabouts of the individual, as he will
probably be on foot.
9:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Attempted pick-up for a
probation violation.
9:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
9:58 p.m., Lutsen: A vehicle slid off Ski Hill Road and
needs a tow.
Saturday, April 9
12:23 a.m., Grand Portage: Arrest made for DWI.
12:36 a.m., Lutsen: Power outage on Lodge Lane.
12:53 a.m., Hovland: An injured deer was dispatched
on the side of the highway.
7:52 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin Bay caused
by cooking.
12:38 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Surfside.
2:13 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy removed hazardous
debris from the highway.
2:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
destructive brown dog off his leash at GoFer Trailer
Court. The caller said the dog destroys property
from several neighbors, and he just dragged off a life
preserver and now has something else in his mouth.
7:58 p.m., Tofte: Traffic citation issued.
8:44 p.m., Grand Portage: Attempted pick-up for a
probation violation.
9:57 p.m., Tofte: Report of an oddly parked vehicle.
10:02 p.m., 10:25 p.m., 11:53 p.m., Grand Portage:
Traffic citations issued.
Sunday, April 10
8:18 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said he flipped his
vehicle on the way to work near mile marker 140 on
the highway.
1:10 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
15-year-old female with hip and back pain.
2:20 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported at the
lodge.
4:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Numerous power outages
reported along East Highway 61.
10:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious activity reported
on Golf Course Road. Somebody was walking around
the caller’s house and banging on the windows.
11:39 p.m., Grand Marais: GunFlint Tavern reported
that a 19- or 20-year-old tried to get served.
