briefs. When court proceedings are complete, the Cook County
News-Herald publishes a complete accounting of names and
penalties in its Matters of Record.

Monday, Dec. 14

8:30 a.m., Grand Portage: Human Services requested a deputy escort for a person to pick up some things from a residence.

12:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported lost or stolen meds.

12:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reporting that he just found his friend dead.

4:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud reported. The alleged incident took place on Nov. 30.

Tuesday, Dec. 15

12:28 a.m., Tofte: Power outage reported in Tofte and Schroeder. REA notified.

5:00 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported that two men are pounding on his neighbor’s door.

6:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Minor fender-bender in Ryden’s parking lot. No injuries reported.

8:21 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of screaming, yelling and apparent pushing and shoving coming from a residence.

Wednesday, Dec. 16

4:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of three lost white plastic barrels that were cut in half. The caller said they fell off his truck somewhere between Grand Marais and Trout Lake Road.

6:37 p.m., Hovland: Deer struck by a vehicle. The deer ran off into the woods.

Thursday, Dec. 17

10:46 a.m., Tofte: A wallet was found on the side of the road and returned to the owner.

11:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Single car accident on the highway near Caribou River.

2:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two stolen pieces of Betsy Bowen artwork, valued at $150 each.

Friday, Dec. 18

12:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Tow truck needed to remove a disabled vehicle that ran over the stop sign at the intersection of County Road 7 and Highway 61. MnDOT notified to replace the stop sign.

7:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a Montana vehicle parked at the Community Center for several days.

4:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost iPod somewhere on the bike trail.

Saturday, Dec. 19

11:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a deer struck the previous evening. The caller wanted it noted for insurance purposes.

4:56 p.m., Tofte: Report of a car and pick-up near the hangars at the old airport. The caller said no one should be there.

5:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a fire at a neighbor’s residence. It was put out with a fire extinguisher, but the fire department checked the scene.

Sunday, Dec. 20

12:13 p.m., Schroeder: Lake County requested traffic assistance at the county line for four vehicles in the ditch.

3:44 p.m., Lutsen: One-vehicle roll-over near Arrowhead Electric. The vehicle was on its side, and two occupants crawled out the window unhurt. The vehicle was towed.

4:17 p.m., Grand Portage: A Canadian woman, 52, of Calgary, was booked into jail after she was stopped at the port with felony amounts of hash, cocaine and ecstasy.

4:21 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle slid into the ditch at Highway 61 and Ski Hill Road.
