12:59 p.m., Hovland: Caller heard shots
being fired close to the post office.
1:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
bear cub in a tree on First Avenue West.
1:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Parking
complaint.
2:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible
trespassing and theft reported.
2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation
issued.
3:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two
barking dogs in a parked car near Blue
Water Café.
5:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
broken speed limit sign near Benny’s
Collision Center. The top bolt appears
broken and it’s hanging upside-down.
State Patrol notified.
5:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing.
Nine signs have been torn down in the
last three weeks.
6:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
suspicious car that has been parked in a
back yard for a day or so.
9:09 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at
Bluefin. The employees said they didn’t
know why the alarm is going off.
Tuesday, Sept. 15
8:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a bear cub in a yard on Fifth Avenue
West.
11:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle
accident at Wisconsin Street-North
Broadway.
6:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run
reported at Cascade Lodge. A vehicle
backed into a parked vehicle, and then
took off.
7:36 p.m., Hovland: Report of a huge
couch dumped on the side of North
Road.
7:44 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of
gunshots coming from Upper Road.
8:02 p.m., Grand Portage: Customs
stopped a wrong-turn motorist at the
border who appeared to be intoxicated
and had a dice-size amount of hash in
the vehicle.
8:06 p.m., Grand Marais: A scooter was
found in the woods near the skate park
and brought in to the Law Enforcement
Center.
8:47 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller’s son
was missing. He didn’t get off the bus
after football practice as expected.
9:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Threats
reported.
Wednesday, Sept. 16
1:24 a.m., Grand Marais: A person
riding his skateboard down to the Point
found a six-blade knife in the middle of
the road. He left it there.
7:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle
accident at Trailside Cabins. No
injuries.
10:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Two giant
poodles ran off from Rosebush Hill.
10:26 a.m., Hovland: Report that
an older black pick-up truck has
been parked about halfway up the
Arrowhead Trail for the past several
weeks.
1:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
black-and-white dog running around
the moose viewing trail.
3:32 p.m., Grand Marais: A women’s
wallet was found in the roadway in
front of Holiday.
4:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
someone has been stealing his firewood
logs.
4:33 p.m., Grand Marais: False burglary
alarm.
Thursday, Sept. 17
8:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
strong smell of smoke near the airport.
10:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assisted a motorist with a flat tire.
4:35 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a
suspicious vehicle at mile marker 144.
6:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
witnessed a pizza box being tossed
out of a vehicle onto the Gunflint Trail
about a half-mile north of the water
tower.
7:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud noise
complaint.
8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: A package
that was left at an apartment door at
Birchwood Apartments was reported
missing.
10:28 p.m., Lutsen: Caller from Mogul’s
said his girlfriend walked away about
two hours ago and he has not seen her
since.
Friday, Sept. 18
10:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Carbon
monoxide detector was going off at a
residence.
11:54 a.m., Grand Marais: A loose
dog was running around near the
courthouse.
12:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a bear cub in a tree near Bethlehem
Church.
12:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off
of $200+ from Super America.
7:24 p.m., Tofte: False commercial fire
alarm.
8:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog
complaint at Birchwood Apartments.
Saturday, Sept. 19
3:12 a.m., Lutsen: Power outage
reported.
10:05 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at
Bluefin.
10:38 a.m. Grand Marais: Probation
warrant arrest made.
12:11 p.m., Schroeder: Employee found
an unlocked door when he got to work.
12:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck
at West Highway 61-Beargrease
Crossing.
1:47 p.m., Hovland: Caller wanted to
know if there was anything the county
could do about ongoing issues with the
phone company.
2:58 p.m., Lutsen: A power line was cut
at Lutsen Mountains.
5:45 p.m., Grand Marais: A wallet left
on the counter at Ben Franklin was
turned in.
8:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
vehicle was camping in a non-camping
area at Magney State Park.
Sunday, Sept. 20
7:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
lot of garbage is piling up in front of his
neighbor’s house.
8:21 a.m., Hovland: Caller said he put
his car into the ditch off Esther Lake
Road last night and was looking for a
tow. There were no injuries or damage.
2:16 p.m., Lutsen: Report of two small
dogs roaming around Lockport store.
5:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about two loud trucks racing up and
down Broadway.
8:38 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said four big
guys were out by his car, rocking it back
and forth.
