Monday, Aug. 24
1:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Bloomquist
Mountain Road.
9:54 a.m., Schroeder: A dog was hit and in the road near
mile marker 73, and vehicles are backing up.
12:04 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a tree down on a power
line and on fire.
2:36 p.m., Grand Portage: The fire department was called
to the Port of Entry after the brakes on a semi trailer
caught on fire.
Tuesday, Aug. 25
1:25 a.m., Lutsen: Report of wood objects in the highway,
possibly fallen off a truck, near Lutsen Resort.
11:17 a.m., Lutsen: A deer was removed from the
roadway.
12:51 p.m., Hovland: Report of a suspicious car with outof state plates in a neighbor’s driveway.
2:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Broadband was down
countywide.
2:43 p.m., Hovland: Traffic citation issued.
5:05 p.m., Tofte: Search & Rescue requested to look for
a man who went missing from a camp site on Sawbill
Lake.
6:41 p.m., Grand Marais: A black-and-white cocker
spaniel with no collar was found on Seventh Avenue
West.
8:49 p.m., Grand Marais: An 18-year-old woman
collapsed at the Rec Park and medical assistance was
needed.
10:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large group of kids
sitting in the ditch on Fifth Street East near Arrowhead
garage. There are also many bikes sitting in the roadway.
Wednesday, Aug. 26
10:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
11:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
12:39 p.m., Hovland: Traffic citation issued.
1:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Internet fraud reported.
1:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Dumpster fire near a cabin at
Nelson’s Traveler’s rest.
2:26 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
3:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation issued.
4:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost yellow hat and
camera in a case somewhere at Seagull.
4:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Some wet grain from the
brewery spilled on the highway in front of Buck’s.
Traffic control was requested for safety reasons as it was
shoveled off.
7:22 p.m., Tofte: Traffic citation issued.
8:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Concerns were raised at GoFer
Cabins about a sex offender who lives next door, and is
being allowed to hand out candy to the kids.
Thursday, Aug. 27
1:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Possible drug issues reported.
9:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of garbage dumped on
the beach near East Bay Suites, a number of times now.
10:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of someone residing in
a vehicle on Broadway.
10:32 a.m., Grand Portage: False hold-up alarm at the
casino.
10:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of possible unlawful
camping at Pincushion Mountain Overlook.
11:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about three ATVs
going up the Gunflint Trail in the traffic lane.
12:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Two men were involved in an
altercation at the gas pumps at Buck’s.
2:52 p.m., Schroeder: A small pick-up with a canoe
on top went into the ditch off Six Hundred Road. No
injuries reported, but a tow was needed.
2:54 p.m., Tofte: Vehicle accident with injuries near near
North Shore Market.
5:11 p.m., Tofte: Deputy assisted a lost motorist.
9:37 p.m., Tofte: False carbon monoxide alarm.
Friday, Aug. 28
11:09 a.m., Grand Portage: False alarm from the Visitors
Center elevator.
9:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Phone scam reported.
11:07 p.m., Grand Portage: Traffic citation issued.
Saturday, Aug. 29
6:03 a.m., Schroeder: A deputy backed a squad into a
trailer and broke out the rear window.
8:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle in the ditch
off the Gunflint Trail about a half-mile north of the
North Brule River crossing. No one was around.
2:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch off the
Gunflint Trail.
4:45 p.m., Tofte: Smell of propane on Aero Drive.
5:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
5:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a small terrier
running in and out of traffic near South of the Border.
9:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible garbage burning
reported.
11:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he couldn’t
figure out his new alarm clock and was wondering if a
dispatcher could call at 8:30 a.m. to wake him up. The
dispatcher said they’d try to help, but if they get busy
they wouldn’t be able to. The caller appreciated it very
much.
Sunday, Aug. 30
12:40 a.m., Lutsen: Traffic citation issued.
7:13 a.m., Grand Marais: A purple purse that was found
near the Coast Guard station was turned in at the Law
Enforcement Center.
8:24 a.m., Grand Marais: A deer was struck and injured
on West Fifth Street.
10:10 a.m., Grand Marais: An injured hawk was picked
up by a person who wanted it turned over to the DNR.
4:39 p.m., Schroeder: Report of two dogs left in a car
over an hour with no windows down at Temperance
River State Park.
10:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck near the water
tower.
