6:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of thick acrid smoke

a lost husky mix on Fifth Avenue West. It was not the
same dog that was reported missing earlier in the day.

music in town. It was determined the business was not
in violation of the ordinance, and the caller was advised
to let City Hall know how he feels about the music in
town.
9:39 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a white pick-up in the ditch
on the upper side of the highway near Mink Ranch
Road. State Patrol notified.

9:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint regarding
vehicles and a boat on Fifth Avenue West.
1:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there are about
seven kids hauling a couch up Third Avenue West
toward the Community Center.
2:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Property damage on Cardinal
Road reported.
6:45 p.m., Schroeder: Traffic citation issued.
9:00 p.m., Lutsen: Report of gunshots on Caribou Trail.
9:23 p.m., Grand Marais: State Patrol notified of an
erratic driver swerving all over the highway.

4:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said two dogs got loose
on Linnell Road about five hours ago and are lost.
5:40 p.m., Grand Marais: A black lab was found at the
Rec Park office.
6:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said kids were hotrodding on Third Avenue West.
6:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is an open
manhole cover at Gunflint Trail-East Fifth Street.
9:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious man
driving through the Rec Park campground with no
headlights.

lodge’s parking lot was keyed sometime
overnight.

scheduled to play on the harbor stage

10:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic accident
that happened Friday at the Rec Park was
reported.
11:33 a.m., Grand Marais: An iPhone was
found in the parking lot at IGA.
3:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run
damage done to a parked vehicle at Almost
Home.
4:57 p.m., Grand Marais: A wallet
containing cash was found at Boulder Park
and turned in at the Visitors Center.
5:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested
to remove an unwanted person from
Subway.
5:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two
lost people from a group of six on Brule
Lake.
5:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud
reported.
11:13 p.m., Grand Marais: The door at the
Community Center was propped open
with the lights off. The lights were on in
the log building.
11:23 p.m., Grand Marais: A man called to
rant about the noise from the bingo tent
and claimed that it’s been going on for a
week, it’s past 10 p.m. and time to shut
them down.

6:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of horses
running down Brandon Lane.
7:57 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm, set off by
cooking bacon.
9:10 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said a young
golden retriever was hanging around
Cathedral of the Pines.
9:56 a.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was
found off Meridian Road.
10:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic citation
issued.
3:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there
was a minivan stopped on the side of the
road at East Fifth Street-Highway 61, and
there was an adult and child outside of the
vehicle screaming.
4:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle damage
at the YMCA parking lot reported.
6:25 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog ran off
from a Devil Track Road residence last
night.

to an arrest for felony drug possession,
open bottle, speeding and possession of
drug paraphernalia.
Tuesday, Aug. 4
8:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire alarms set
off on South Broadway caused by a burned
breakfast.
1:03 p.m., Grand Marais: A couple
reported that they were in town yesterday
and now they can not find their laptop and
wallets containing about $1,000 in cash.
They were either stolen from the van or
fell out.
4:14 p.m., Grand Portage: A young
teenager was found passed out in the
Community Center.
7:49 p.m., Lutsen: Phone scam reported.
8:30 p.m., Hovland: Caller said a young
bear has been hanging around the
Dumpster at Naniboujou, and people are
taking pictures of it. DNR notified.
Wednesday, Aug. 5
12:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglar
alarm set off at the Coast Guard station
determined to be false.
8:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft of a piece of
jewelry reported.
8:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Damage to a
vehicle at Holiday after two kids got into a
fight over a fender-bender that happened
there also.
9:12 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy
requested to evict a guy from the casino
who destroyed his room and is pretty
intoxicated.
9:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Semi with a load
of gravel in the ditch near mile marker 99.
No injuries reported.
3:48 p.m., Grand Marais: A black lab with
bad hips was hanging out at East Bay.
10:05 p.m., Lutsen: Report of automatic
gunfire for the past 15 minutes near Isak
Hansen’s.
Thursday, Aug. 6
1:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver arrested
for DUI.
9:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle way in
the ditch off County Road 7. There was
nobody in or around the vehicle.
2:34 p.m., Grand Portage: A credit card
was found on the edge of the highway.
3:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
side dumpers speeding and Jake-braking
down the highway all day and honking
when people are in the crosswalk.
4:05 p.m., Tofte: The mini-storage units
were broken into. Unknown what was
taken.
5:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding
complaint about a black pick-up heading
down the Trail.
8:49 p.m., Grand Marais: A black border
collie ran off from West Fourth Street.
Friday, Aug. 7
3:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint
regarding a semi parked near the Mangy
Moose.
9:09 a.m., Tofte: Caller wanted some
information about having a 7-month-old
puppy removed from her house.
10:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he is
on the Gunflint Trail, and there is a bear in
front of him.
10:29 a.m., Grand Marais: A backpack was
found at the skate park.
3:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her
house was broken into and now her keys
and prescription meds are missing.
3:51 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle in the ditch
at mile marker 75.

three loud ATVs driving on Hungry Jack

on Brandon Lane.

found on the Arrowhead Trail.
6:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the
gray box at the corner of West Second
Street and First Avenue West was cracked
and making a hissing noise.
