Monday, July 20
8:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a sailboat, possibly
in distress, at the entrance of the harbor.
10:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
10:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for driving
without a driver’s license.
10:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
11:00 a.m., Grand Portage: Property damage done at
the powwow grounds. Pictures were taken, a screen
door was ripped off and security lights were broken.
11:01 a.m., Grand Marais: False residential motion
alarm.
11:13 a.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at Grand
Marais Condos.
12:00 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm.
1:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost house key reported.
1:51 p.m., Grand Marais: A power tool was found and
turned in at City Hall.
2:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for no proof of
insurance.
7:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of drugs being
bought at Birchwood Apartments.
8:31 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her daughter’s
bike was left at the Community Center, and it was
taken and spray-painted.
Tuesday, July 21
1:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about fireworks
going off near the Coast Guard building.
2:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller heard shots fired on
First Avenue West near the school. It sounded like a
high-powered rifle.
7:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on
Thomsonite Beach.
9:15 a.m., Lutsen: Three-car accident near Lockport.
12:37 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog was found
wandering on Fifth Avenue West.
2:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
2:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver warned for illegal
passing.
3:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
4:00 p.m., Tofte: Vehicle roll-over on Highway 61
between Bluefin and Holiday. State Patrol notified.
4:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Hikers on the Pincushion
Trail were unable to find their way out. They
eventually met up with a biker, who said he will make
sure they get out.
6:03 p.m., Grand Portage: False security alarm at the
Great Hall kitchen.
6:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a dog
in an enclosed kennel in the back of a pick-up truck
on Wisconsin Street for the past 30 minutes.
7:23 p.m., Grand Portage: Speeding citation issued.
7:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint on
County Road 60.
9:30 p.m., Schroeder: Loud party/fire on the beach
complaint.
9:52 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
10:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on East
Highway 61.
Wednesday, July 22
7:56 a.m., Grand Portage: Trespassing citation issued
at the lodge.
9:33 a.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at the high
school. Someone burned popcorn.
10:07 a.m., Grand Marais: A black and white spaniel
was found wandering on Seventh Avenue West.
12:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned
about a dog left in a vehicle in the Senior Center
parking lot.
1:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller complained about
two ATVs driving northbound on the Gunflint Trail.
7:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
9:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver warned for impeding
traffic.
Thursday, July 23
9:41 a.m., Grand Marais: A camera was found on the
floor at Joynes.
10:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted a motorist
pick up a leaking load.
2:58 p.m., Grand Portage: Driver warned for driving
with no valid license.
3:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
3:50 p.m., Speeding citation issued.
9:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about drag
racing on Wisconsin Street. The vehicles were gone
when a deputy arrived.
Friday, July 24
5:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a truck
engine running since 3 a.m. at Sawtooth Lumber.
9:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a
canoe chained to a fire hydrant at Gunflint Trail-East
Highway 61.
9:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked for a deputy to
discuss concerns about loud vehicles and motorcycles
driving in the area.
9:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost keys reported.
12:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a group of
three women going store to store downtown and
shoplifting.

4:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of downed wires
near Kingdom Hall for the last few days.
8:17 p.m., Grand Marais: A motorcycle was stolen
from a property on Second Avenue West, and later
recovered behind the GunFlint Tavern. There was a
broken clutch lever and a missing GPS unit.
8:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about illegal
burning of construction materials on Eighth Avenue
West. The flames were out when a deputy arrived, and
there was no acrid odor, but the owner was advised it
is illegal to burn lumber with stain on it.
9:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic disturbance at
Birchwood Apartments.
10:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a pick-up
almost ran him off the road near Hedstrom’s.
11:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a lime green
truck just ran the red light, going up the hill.
Saturday, July 25
1:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Motorist assistance at
Gunflint Trail-Pincushion Drive.
9:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
10:50 a.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was found at Stone
Harbor.
3:54 p.m., Schroeder: Report of debris in the road at
mile marker 72.
6:31 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said there was a golden
retriever mix in his yard.
7:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Warrant arrest.
9:55 p.m., Tofte: Loud party-music complaint on
Sugar Beach Drive.
11:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog ran off from a
Cascade Beach Road residence.
11:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for no proof of
insurance.
Sunday, July 26
8:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint from Pine
Mountain Trailer Court about three bears hanging
around. The caller was told to put away all garbage
and food that was out, and the bears will go away.
2:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Citation issued for driving
after revocation.
3:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a
person riding a skateboard down the Gunflint Trail
with a black vehicle following it with flashers on.
9:54 p.m., Lutsen: Power outage on White Pine Lane.
