5:11 p.m., Lutsen: Report of an abandoned vehicle on
South Caribou Drive.
8:06 p.m., Grand Marais: A springer spaniel ran off from
a residence.
10:17 p.m., Lutsen: Fireworks complaint.
Tuesday, July 7
9:39 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said a vehicle that had been
reported as abandoned has been stolen.
6:10 p.m., Tofte: A 7-year-old got into a fight at a daycare
center.
10:06 p.m., Schroeder: Fireworks complaint.
Wednesday, July 8
9:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost white lab puppy on Fall
River Road.
12:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A dead deer was pulled off the
highway at mile marker 119.
12:45 p.m., Lutsen: Report of an abandoned vehicle in
Tait River gravel pit.
1:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Parked vehicle blocking traffic
on Townsite Road.
4:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost Canadian passport
somewhere in town.
4:52 p.m., Lutsen: Theft of a lawn mower reported.
6:09 p.m., Grand Marais: A glucose meter was found at
the Laundromat and turned in to the sheriff ’s office.
11:49 p.m., Schroeder: The driver of a vehicle that was
seen driving erratically near Tac Harbor was stopped
and warned.
Thursday, July 9
5:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Financial exploitation of an
elderly person reported.
9:04 a.m., Schroeder: Deputy assisted with traffic control
as requested by volunteers who were cleaning the
highway.
9:13 a.m., Grand Marais: A motorcycle struck a deer at
mile marker 106. No injuries reported.
2:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted with a DWI
arrest.
2:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said there were two
boats on Lake Superior close to shore with lights on and
off for about an hour.
4:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A truck hit another vehicle in
front of My Sister’s Place. No injuries reported.
5:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an uncomfortable
dog in a parked vehicle on First Street.
7:29 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog jumped in a car at the
water tower.
7:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that kids on skateboards
were hanging on to a car traveling west on Fifth Street.
Friday, July 10
10:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his vehicle was
stolen in April.
11:39 a.m., Grand Marais: An English setter, Bella, took
off from a Second Avenue West residence.
12:17 p.m., Hovland: Threats received.
2:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost camera reported.
2:48 p.m., Lutsen: Theft of prescription meds reported.
4:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a threewheeler on the beach near the DNR building “tearing it
up.”
5:36 p.m., Lutsen: Gas drive-off from Lockport.
7:38 p.m., Tofte: Report of an elderly man walking along
the highway who appears to be confused. State Patrol
notified.
9:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted a motorist.
11:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a
hitchhiker on Devil Track Road wearing dark clothing,
and was very difficult to see.
11:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he just arrived at
the Rec Park to the campsite he has reserved, and it’s
occupied.
Saturday, July 11
1:25 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said a 27-year-old woman fell
over the cliff at White Sky Trail.
6:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of illegal camping at the
Artist’s Point parking lot.
6:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run on Broadway.
10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a flipped-over kayak
far out on the lake from Artist’s Point.
1:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite reported.
2:16 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a loud and disruptive group
of guys at the Clara Lake campground.
3:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for parking and
blocking a driveway on Third Avenue West.
4:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint regarding a
van parked in front of the Legion for two days.
9:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost purse reported.
11:53 p.m., Grand Marais: A light brown dog, Mocha,
ran off somewhere on East Fifth Street.
Sunday, July 12
12:14 a.m., Tofte: Caller said a passenger on the shuttle
bus at Bluefin Bay is intoxicated and biting people.
12:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a group of guys
left a bachelor party at GunFlint Tavern and was being
loud and knocking down traffic barriers at the art
display.
12:40 a.m., Lutsen: Complaint about a group of 10-15
intoxicated Canadians on the beach near Lutsen Resort
being extremely loud.
5:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing reported.
9:55 a.m., Lutsen: Vehicle reported stolen from Caribou
Highlands.
10:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of two 55-gallon
barrels marked “Hazardous Waste” along an obscure foot
path about six or seven miles from town.
4:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run accident at Buck’s
Hardware.
7:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a car at
Artist’s Point with a group of kids smoking pot inside.
10:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller heard shots fired on
County Road 14.
