Monday, June 8
8:36 a.m., Tofte: Driver cited for speeding.
2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
3:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a strong smell of smoke
on the Gunflint Trail, preceded by lightning in the area. MIFC
crews were notified.
3:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Two scooters were taken from
outside the Recycling Center. They are owned by two people
who were helping there.
4:50 p.m., Tofte: Report of a smoky smell on Crosswind Trail.
9:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Gunflint Narrows.
9:15 p.m., Grand Portage: A person wanted on a Cook County
warrant was sighted at the lodge.
Tuesday, June 9
10:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding and no
proof of insurance.
10:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Phone outage on all of Gunflint
Lake Road.
11:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
11:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
1:14 p.m., Grand Portage: Fake $100 bill received at the lodge.
1:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Security requested at the courthouse.
3:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint. A vehicle was
parked in a no parking zone downtown, impeding deliveries.
4:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about two trucks and
ATVs racing up and down Wesley Lane.
6:49 p.m., Lutsen: Threatening text messages received.
7:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported from Trail’s End
campground.
9:20 p.m., Tofte: Report of a person lost on Superior Hiking
Trail near Britton Peak.
Wednesday, June 10
6:11 a.m., Schroeder: Speeding citation issued.
7:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near Swamper
Lake. No apparent injuries.
9:08 a.m., Grand Portage: Another counterfeit $100 bill
received at the lodge.
12:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Someone turned in a suspicious
item (possibly weed) that was found in the roadway at the Rec
Park.
1:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A set of keys was found on County
Road 7.
1:57 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller asked a deputy to remove her
daughter from her home.
2:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud reported.
4:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible trespassing at The Landing.
5:05 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a loose guy wire and
power pole.
9:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a black Lab
running around the beach near Best Western.
10:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious person
walking west of town near Aspen Inn.
Thursday, June 11
12:22 a.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at Grand Marais
Condos.
8:09 a.m., Grand Marais: False security alarm at the Trading
Post.
3:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Arrest made on an Olmsted County
warrant.
3:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a sink hole starting on the
first block of Second Avenue West. The PUC was notified.
4:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was confronted
downtown.
7:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a tree on the power line
near South Brule Road.
9:27 p.m., Lutsen: Driver cited for speeding and no proof of
insurance.
Friday, June 12
12:28 a.m., Schroeder: Complaint about a howling dog.
12:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller found a threatening note on
the cabin door.
10:50 a.m., Tofte: Speeding citation issued.
12:03 p.m., Schroeder: Speeding citation issued.
12:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Horses were loose on County Road
6. The owner was out looking for them.
12:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint on Old Shore
Road.
4:33 p.m., Grand Marais: A customer left a bank bag with a
large amount of cash and a deposit slip (but no ID) at a local
store. It will be brought to the LEC if not claimed.
8:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A pony was running loose on
Brandon Lane.
Saturday, June 13
12:17 a.m., Hovland: False alarm at Naniboujou Lodge.
1:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
7:58 a.m., Grand Marais: False security alarm at Cascade State
Park.
8:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint regarding a
vehicle blocking the Farmer’s Market. People were trying to set
up, and the owner was contacted to move it.
8:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Cascade Lodge requested the fire
department to check black smoke coming out of a stack, but
there’s no fires burning in the building.
3:57 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said there were three hikers on
the Superior Hiking Trail. He heard shots and a bullet fly by.
7:12 p.m., Tofte: Driver cited for speeding.
9:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
10:24 p.m., Grand Portage: Arrest made for a probation
violation.
11:00 p.m., Lutsen: Disturbance at Sea Villas.
11:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint on Ninth
Avenue West.
Sunday, June 14
3:01 p.m., Hovland: Caller said Chicago Bay Marketplace was
unlocked and no one is around.
3:34 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said there was a group of
adolescent boys jumping off the cliffs at Temperance gorge and
wondered if a ranger could speak with them.
5:45 p.m., Lutsen: Complaint about two motorcycles speeding
up and down the Caribou Trail at over 80 mph.
5:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said two guys were
hammering out a chunk of rocks on Artist Point.
6:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver arrested for driving after
cancellation.
10:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there were five or six
kids playing, unattended, at the playground at Birchwood
Apartments. They were very loud.
11:45 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
