Monday, Jan. 5
7:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run
occurred at Hall Road-Highway 61.
12:06 p.m., Hovland: Theft of mail
from a mailbox.
2:31 p.m., Schroeder: A Birchwood
Lane cabin was broken into.
3:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Assistance
requested for a custody issue.
6:55 p.m., Grand Marais: A
vehicle went into the ditch south
of Trail Center.
7:10 p.m., Grand Marais: An
electronic key for a vehicle was
lost.
Tuesday, Jan. 6
7:42 a.m., Grand Marais: False alarm at
Sven & Ole’s.
10:13 a.m., Hovland: Check forgery
reported (over $70,000).
12:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a person hit by a bike at West Fifth
Street-Fifth Avenue West.
4:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
vehicle ran into the row of mailboxes
at Clearwater Road and took most of
them out. The vehicle is gone.
Wednesday, Jan. 7
1:11 a.m., Grand Portage: False alarm
on Mile Creek Road.
8:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Car in the
ditch off Golf Course Road.
12:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited
for no driver’s license.
Thursday, Jan. 8
2:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a loud party on First Avenue
West.
7:37 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic
altercation.
12:36 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called
to the ski hill for a 23-year-old man
with a lacerated pelvis.
2:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off
from Super America.
Friday, Jan. 9
8:18 a.m., Lutsen: Driver cited for no
license.
8:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Overdose of
pills reported.
10:41 a.m., Schroeder: Car-deer
accident at mile marker 78.
12:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Scam phone
call reported.
3:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited
for speeding and no proof of insurance.
5:55 p.m., Hovland: Driver cited for no
proof of insurance.
8:44 p.m., Lutsen: Driver cited for
speeding.
9:07 p.m., Lutsen: Report of suspicious
activity near Cathedral of the Pines. A
car drove down the Caribou Trail and
three people with big back packs and
head lamps got out and went down the
driveway.
Saturday, Jan. 10
6:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a false chimney fire. The caller saw
sparks coming out of the chimney, but
the homeowner had just put wood on
the fire. There was no smoke in the
house.
9:27 a.m., Schroeder: Driver cited for
speeding.
10:52 a.m., Hovland: False burglary
alarm.
10:56 a.m., Lutsen: Driver cited for
speeding.
11:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited
for speeding.

11:49 a.m., Grand Marais: A smart
phone was found on the road near
Third Avenue East.
12:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment
reported.
1:21 p.m., Grand Portage: Driver cited
for speeding and no driver’s license.
3:41 p.m., Lutsen: Driver cited for no
proof of insurance.
4:02 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to
the ski hill for a 25-year-old man with
a left collarbone deformity.
7:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle stuck
about 30 feet off the plowed road on
Bally Creek Road.
10:24 p.m., Tofte: Deputy checked on
an unoccupied snowmobile.
11:00 p.m., Lutsen: Driver cited for no
proof of insurance.
Sunday, Jan. 11
2:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Assault
reported at Aspen Lodge.
3:41 a.m., Hovland: Vehicle accident
at East Highway 61-Brule River. No
injuries.
9:26 a.m., Lutsen: Unfounded report
of a cloud of smoke south of Caribou
Trail. It could have been mist coming
off Lake Superior.
9:41 a.m., Schroeder: Driver cited for
speeding and no proof of insurance.
10:00 a.m., Schroeder: Driver cited for
speeding and no proof of insurance.
10:27 a.m., Tofte: Driver cited for
speeding.
11:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited
for speeding.
3:04 p.m., Hovland: Vehicle struck a
deer and rolled over.
4:05 p.m., Grand Marais: An injured
German shepherd just ran through the
caller’s back yard. It appeared to have
an injured paw.
