Monday, Nov. 9
11:00 a.m., Grand Portage: Border Patrol requested a check on a vehicle registration out of Mississippi. The license came back to a different vehicle.
2:23 p.m., Colvill: Complaint that kids were running up and down Caspers Hill Road on dirt bikes and four-wheelers. The caller said it was illegal, and they were causing a problem for the hunters, and he was willing to press charges. The matter was referred to the county attorney.
6:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported break-in was unfounded.
7:47 p.m., Grand Marais: A male golden retriever was put in the pound after it was hanging out on a neighbor’s porch most of the evening.
10:08 p.m., Lutsen: Report that three intoxicated men stopped in Lutsen Resort to see if the pub was open. Theyleft in a small blue pick-up, headed toward the highway.
Tuesday, Nov. 10
7:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy responded to a barking dog complaint, but there was only one dog outside on the deck, and it wasn’t barking.
8:17 a.m., Grand Marais: State Patrol notified of some rock and debris on the highway that accidentally spilled out of a dump truck.
11:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dog running around in the middle of the Gunflint Trail, creating a traffic hazard.
1:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said that a neighbor’s dog attacked her dog, causing physical damage and vet costs. She said the dog has attacked several other dogs in the neighborhood.
2:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a hunting stand and chair from an area near the Washington Pines off the Gunflint Trail.
Wednesday, Nov. 11
2:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire department called to assist a homeowner whose carbon monoxide detector kept going off. The residents were unsure if the levels were high, or if they were resetting it incorrectly.
9:01 a.m., Schroeder: Lake County requested tankers from Schroeder for assistance at a fire at Whispering Pines Motel.
12:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A Huffy bike was found stashed in the bushes in the lakeside ditch off County Road14.
2:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Assistance requested for a motorist stranded on an unimproved road off Crescent Lake.
5:09 p.m., Grand Marais: A party illegally camping on the beach off County Road 14 was told to move.
6:21 p.m., Grand Marais: The fire department extinguished a fire in the cigarette container outside the front door of the Law Enforcement Center.
Thursday, Nov. 12
8:42 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a long black station wagon drove onto his lawn, and he believes whoever it was was trying to steal gas or his car.
11:17 a.m., Tofte: Report of a large piece of metal in the west end of the construction zone.
3:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that kids are skipping school.
9:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Man asked to talk to a deputy because he believed he had some money stolen from him.
Friday, Nov. 13
11:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported seeing flames north of the hospital. There were no burn permits issued.
12:21 p.m. Grand Marais: A Tofte lad, 16, was cited for underage possession of tobacco.
3:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Anonymous caller reporting drug activity.
3:32 p.m., Grand Portage: The lodge requested assistance for a woman who had been given Salvation Army help.
Saturday, Nov. 14
12:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Neighbor dispute.
1:28 p.m., Grand Marais: An REA lineman got the hoist from his truck stuck in the power line on S. Gunflint Lake Road.
3:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about some kids on County Road 60 who were seen pulling down fence posts and using them for firewood. They have also been seen driving recklessly.
Sunday, Nov. 15
10:11 a.m., Tofte: Fire alarm at North Shore Market determined to be false.
2:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Highway Department notified of some slippery spots in the shady areas along the Gunflint Trail.
5:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious person on the Gunflint Trail said he was looking to give some “paperwork” to a party. When asked what company he was from or what the paperwork was, he would not answer.
