Monday, Sept. 22
12:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer in the middle of the lakeside
lane of the highway near Cascade Lodge.
2:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about noisy truck
engines running near Super America.
7:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from the YMCA said
something that couldn’t be understood and gave a plate
number. When asked to repeat it, the caller said, “Never
mind,” and hung up.
11:18 a.m. Grand Marais: Driver cited for passing in a no
passing zone.
3:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Carbon monoxide alarm going off
at a residence. Not sure what the problem is.
7:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal hunting on Sag Lake Trail. A
hunter shot a grouse.
Tuesday, Sept. 23
5:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to know if there
were any reports of power problems at the library overnight.
There were none.
2:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for no proof of
insurance.
2:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller believes there is someone in
a supposedly abandoned vacant house.
4:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost wallet reported.
7:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at Harbor Light
to pick up a couple bikes that have been there for a few days.
8:38 p.m., Grand Portage: Driver cited for speeding.
10:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his laptop was stolen
from his house.
10:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported marijuana use at
Birchwood Apartments.
Wednesday, Sept. 24
10:06 a.m., Grand Portage: Suicide threats received.
4:32 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off from Holiday.
7:36 p.m., Grand Marais: An injured goose was on Eliasen
Mill Road. Referred to the game warden.
Thursday, Sept. 25
6:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near the water
tower.
9:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious activity on County
Road 48.
10:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for speeding.
11:26 a.m., Lutsen: A male border collie was found in the
lobby at Caribou Highlands.
12:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a vehicle has been
parked at the Cross River pit for over a month.
1:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost passport reported.
5:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic disturbance at Pine
Mountain Court. The caller was pushed by another female.
6:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost debit card.
7:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Stolen bike reported.
7:11 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
Friday, Sept. 26
12:38 a.m., Schroeder: Suspicious activity at the Sugarloaf
wayside rest. Two people with flashlights got out of a vehicle
and headed down the trail.
2:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of pills reported.
2:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a group of
people playing music in the street on First Avenue West-
Highway 61.
3:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Attempted burglary. The door and
jamb were damaged, but nothing was taken.
5:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious person on a picnic table
at Grand Marais State Bank.
7:30 p.m., Hovland: DNR forester treed by wolves.
7:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of loud howls near
Sawtooth Ridges.
9:40 p.m., Grand Marais: A set of keys was found on a bench
near the Coast Guard station.
Saturday, Sept. 27
12:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud party complaint on Bents
Road.
12:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for expired license.
7:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Small dog on the highway near
Cascade Beach Road.
7:55 a.m., Grand Marais: A red day pack was found in the
ditch near Fall River.
8:23 a.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle ran over the pedestrian
crossing sign near Java Moose and did not stop.
11:19 a.m., Grand Portage: False fire alarm at the
Community Center.
1:06 p.m., Grand Portage: Unsafe passing reported.
3:43 p.m., Grand Marais: A golden retriever, “Annie,”
escaped on County Road 44.
8:01 p.m., Grand Marais: A black backpack was left at Super
America.
9:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver struck and killed a bear cub
on the highway.
10:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a car hit a deer on the
Gunflint Trail, and the deer flew off and hit two people on a
motorcycle. The car kept going, and the driver was cited for
failure to stop.
11:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about loud guitar
music at the Rec Park.
Sunday, Sept. 28
12:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint at the Rec Park.
9:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic disturbance at the
Shoreline Motel.
11:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle near
Hedstrom’s Lumber.
1:20 p.m., Grand Marais: False alarm at the Coast Guard
station.
1:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible abuse reported.
3:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near the
George Washington Pines.
8:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost dog, “Chippy,” from Gofer
Trailer Court, has been missing about five hours.
