Monday, Aug. 25
3:39 a.m., Tofte: Fire alarm on Tofte Park Road.
9:16 a.m., Grand Portage: A parked vehicle was
hit sometime during the night, causing damage
to the rear end.
11:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there are
all sorts of new black skid marks and donuts on
South Shore Drive.
3:10 p.m., Grand Portage: A counterfeit $50 bill
was received at the casino.
4:06 p.m., Grand Marais: A parked car was
blocking the sidewalk near the dental office.
4:31 p.m., Grand Portage: A child pressed the
elevator emergency alarm button at the national
monument. There was no emergency and
nobody was stuck in the elevator.
8:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Two teenagers were
reported missing from Gunflint Pines.
Tuesday, Aug. 26
10:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said juveniles
have been going into an abandoned shed across
from Birch Terrace and breaking glass.
11:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the
highway department is doing ditching on County
Road 56, and cows are running all over.
3:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller requested a game
warden to report a wolf that was threatening kids
on Wahlstrom Road.
3:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for
exhibition driving.
6:54 p.m., Grand Marais: An older golden
retriever was found at the Rec Park.
Wednesday, Aug. 27
4:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic altercation.
9:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of possible
criminal sexual conduct.
12:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
camper and pick-up truck that have been parked
near the co-op for five days, and haven’t moved.
2:40 p.m., Grand Marais: A purse was found in
the Laundromat.
5:21 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of break-ins on
Stevens and Bay roads.
8:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller at Birchwood
Apartments heard one bang from fireworks.
Thursday, Aug. 28
3:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage preceded
by a loud bang.
9:50 a.m., Grand Marais: A big white dog was
running around near the sea plane base, eluding
capture.
12:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Motorist assist at mile
marker 107.
12:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dog left in
a parked vehicle near the Trading Post, with the
windows cracked only a little.
5:37 p.m., Grand Marais: A canoe was found on
Fireplace Road.
Friday, Aug. 29
1:26 a.m., Grand Portage: Driver cited for driving
after suspension.
11:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there may
be people living at Gateway Lodge, and it should
be empty.
11:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint
near the Harbor House.
1:43 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said a man was
hitchhiking on Cramer Road, and it seemed odd;
he had no bags or anything else with him.
3:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
Saturday, Aug. 30
4:37 a.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at
Sawtooth Ridges Apartments.
1:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A purse was lost.
4:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
small dog wandering around Seventh Avenue
West.
6:54 p.m., Grand Marais: A wolf went after a dog
on the caller’s driveway.
10:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic argument at
a campsite at Cascade River State Park.
Sunday, Aug. 31
12:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint
on County Road 6.
7:31 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin. Bacon
was burning.
1:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost iphone near the
lighthouse.
2:40 p.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at
Sawtooth Ridges.
5:31 p.m., Lutsen: Motorcycle accident, no
injuries reported, at Lutsen Resort.
9:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite reported
behind Pine Mountain Trailer Court.
9:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Graffiti discovered all
over the ramps at the skate park.
9:43 p.m., Grand Portage: Attempted break-in
reported.
10:32 p.m., Schroeder: Driver cited for no proof
of insurance.
Monday, Sept. 1
10:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
junked car on Brandon Lane that has been sitting
out in the middle of the cul-de-sac for months
and is an eyesore.
11:33 a.m., Grand Marais: A juvenile gull was
seen in the shrubs near the Bear Tree with a lure
stuck in its beak.
1:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost key fob, possibly
near IGA.
1:52 p.m., Schroeder: Suspicious activity
reported at Temperance River State Park.
2:30 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a vehicle break-in
overnight at Poplar River Condos.
9:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported a
disturbance outside Birchwood Apartments.
10:20 p.m., Tofte: Driver cited for no proof of
insurance.
Tuesday, Sept. 2
12:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation
issued.

1:16 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said there was
a suspicious person walking around outside the
house.
9:48 a.m., Tofte: Man arrested for burglary after
he was seen going through the cabinets at his
neighbor’s house.
7:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost bear
hunter who was on Shoe Lake Road.
Wednesday, Sept. 3
7:44 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a drifter with
a dog hanging out near the C-Store with a sign
that says “Grand Marais.” The caller said the man
had also tried to get into Canada but didn’t make
it, and was earlier found sleeping inside the car
wash.
8:12 a.m., Lutsen: Report of a semi blocking both
lanes of traffic near Lutsen Resort. Referred to
State Patrol.
12:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned
about someone making homicidal and suicidal
threats.
2:12 p.m., Grand Marais: A small dog named
“Bandit” went missing from Humphrey Circle.
2:16 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with a
transient at Birch Terrace.
2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dangerous
dog that has moved into the county.
2:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Internet scam reported.
4:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his neighbor
tried to run him over – all because of a clothes
line that is illegally put up.
4:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller received rude
and disrespectful texts.
8:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic argument
reported at Birchwood Apartments. A person
was screaming at young children.
11:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he shot a
nuisance bear that has been coming on his porch
with birdshot, and is concerned about dogs and
children in the area. A Conservation Officer will
be contacted.
Thursday, Sept. 4
7:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he woke up
to an animal being attacked behind the house
last week, and he just saw a wolf near one of the
buildings.
9:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dump truck
smoking near the water tower.
9:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned
about a neighbor again making homicidal and
suicidal threats.
3:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of dogs being
attacked by a wolf on Fall River Road. One was
killed.
9:39 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a person
was selling meth to kids.
Friday, Sept. 5
12:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
loud group at the Rec Park campground.
10:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller on County
Road 6 said she heard her dog yelping at about
5:20 a.m., ran out there, and the dog was able to
come back but was injured.
11:37 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of someone
illegally tapping into the electric line at a vacant
house.
1:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a person is
squatting behind the Maple Hill Fire Department
in a camper.
1:54 p.m., Grand Marais: An RV backed into a
parked truck at the Rec Park.
2:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Two-car accident at the
Rec Park, no injuries.
4:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about an
aggressive white dog that charges people on
Eighth Avenue West and West Fourth Street.
5:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
6:07 p.m., Tofte: Caller said he started hunting at
3 p.m. at Onion River Road, shot a bear, followed
it, and is now lost.
6:30 p.m., Tofte: Report of a man wearing camo,
a head band, and carrying nothing walking along
the highway near Cliff Dweller and throwing
his hands in the air. He appears to be talking to
something.
9:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Birchwood
Apartments said someone was pounding on her
door, and left a bag of dog food with a bizarre
note.
11:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog
complaint on Second Avenue West.
11:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
loud group at the Rec Park.
Saturday, Sept. 6
6:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a wolf caught
in a trap on Humphrey Circle.
7:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller’s dog went
missing last night on Pike Lake Road.
12:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
witnessed a large bull moose knocking down a
driveway gate.
1:54 p.m., Lutsen: Missing person reported – the
person did not show up at the finish line of the
bike race.
2:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of four overdue
people who may be lost on the Pincushion
Overlook trail.
7:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an older
golden Lab running around the highway near
Harbor Light.
10:48 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported an
overdue man who left this morning to check his
fishing nets and hasn’t returned.
Sunday, Sept. 7
11:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that kids were
playing in a vacant house on Sixth Avenue West
again.
4:18 p.m., Tofte: Overdue bear hunter on the
Pancore Lake Road.
10:17 p.m., Tofte: Caller said a group of four or
five bicyclists was riding along the highway, all
wearing dark clothing and difficult to see.
