1:21 p.m., Hovland: Dangerous dog
notification.
1:29 p.m., Hovland: Caller said a neighbor
was putting up a fence on his (caller’s)
property.
2:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Employee theft
reported.
3:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
vehicle parked at an abandoned residence
since July 20.
3:44 p.m., Schroeder: Credit card fraud
reported.
6:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud
reported.
10:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of a
motorcycle reported.
10:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Welfare check of
an 11-year-old requested.
Tuesday, July 22
3:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on
Loon Lake Road.
3:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a
12-year-old was hit by a falling tree at
Camp Menogyn.
3:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Trees down on
the Gunflint Trail.
7:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
empty pontoon boat floating on Devil
Track Lake.
10:15 a.m., Lutsen: Vehicle roll-over near
Superior National Golf Course.
12:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
girls doing a car wash at the credit union
are going out into traffic and asked that a
deputy go by and speak with them.
2:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment.
14:54 p.m., Schroeder: Credit card fraud.
6:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a tree
fallen on wires on Moose Ridge Road.
7:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller lost track
of grandma around Whole Foods Co-op.
9:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Missing person
reported.
Wednesday, July 23
2:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic
argument at the YMCA.
9:48 a.m., Lutsen: Clara Lake Road was
blocked by a couple large trees. Forest
Service contacted.
10:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
semi that just passed the library had one
of its back cargo doors flapping open and
closed.
3:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller lost a dog,
“Whitney,” on West First Street.
4:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Child welfare
concern at Birchwood Apartments.
7:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
mountain bike has been left in his yard for
the last three days.
8:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Boat in the ditch
off Trout Lake Road.
10:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported at
Trail Center.
10:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver arrested
for DUI.
Thursday, July 24
3:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
someone keeps knocking on the door and
no one is there. Also, someone is calling
and hanging up.
4:00 a.m., Tofte: Trouble with customers at
Bluefin Bay.
7:22 a.m., Hovland: Caller said there was
a chemical truck he has never seen in the
county, and believes it is odd.
7:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Property damage.
10:09 a.m., Lutsen: Drug investigation.
4:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost phone
reported.
5:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious phone
call.
7:41 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin
caused by a guest who didn’t open the
damper when using the fireplace, and then
didn’t open the window to get the smoke
out.
10:53 p.m., Grand Portage: Threats
reported.
Friday, July 25
2:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
could hear someone tapping on the wall
and believes it is the cops. He called the
FBI.
10:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Bear struck and
injured by a vehicle on the Gunflint Trail.

2:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
someone cut down 34 birch trees on his
property.
2:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint that
a propane truck was speeding near Trail
Center.
8:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver arrested
for DUI.
10:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic
argument.
10:46 p.m., Grand Portage: Threats
reported.
Saturday, July 26
1:23 p.m., Grand Portage: Theft of a camera
from a residence reported.
2:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint regarding vehicles at Boulder
Park.
2:50 p.m., Grand Portage: Theft reported.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog
complaint.
4:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic assault.
Sunday, July 27
12:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
again hears suspicious knocking and a
door slamming, but doesn’t need a deputy
to respond because it’s been going on for
so long now. Somebody is playing mind
games.
10:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller’s 80-yearold mother was locked in a car at the Rec
Park. A locksmith was contacted.
2:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A yellow Lab was
found on Old Ski Hill Road.
8:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said people
were releasing Chinese lanterns again on
Cascade Beach Road.
Monday, July 28
7:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft of three
political signs from a yard reported.
9:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Missing cat,
“Ninja,” has been gone a couple days.
9:29 a.m., Grand Marais: A purse
containing ID and credit cards was found
on the highway.
10:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a kid
on a motorized scooter was going through
his yard on East Fifth Street.
11:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost keys.
9:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
sled dogs on the property.
11:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on
Eighth Avenue West following a big bang.
Tuesday, July 29
11:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Scam phone call
reported.
11:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Threats made at
the courthouse.
11:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious
activity reported at Artist Point.
2:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
moped has been parked near the old pool
for about a month: Is it abandoned, stolen,
etc.?
2:48 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle rollover on
Highway 61 at Ski Hill Road.
4:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Threats made at
the courthouse.
5:15 p.m., Grand Portage: Power outage on
Eliza Road.
5:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Tree struck by
lightning and the power is out.
5:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Cash was found
in the parking lot at Magney State Park.
9:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A cat wandered
off from Way of the Wilderness and is still
missing.
Wednesday, July 30
3:00 a.m., Grand Marais: A truck ran off
the road near Cascade River State Park.
5:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a
vehicle near Croftville Road.
9:39 a.m., Schroeder: Report of two big
blasts by the ash pile, less than a minute
apart.
10:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Living
conditions complaint.
11:57 a.m., Grand Marais: A mountain bike
was missing from Birchwood Apartments.
2:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Counterfeit check
received.
3:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
injured buck stuck in the waterfall on Devil
Track River.
5:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint about a hay wagon left on
Brandon Lane, possibly since last fall.
6:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Attempted
suicide.

Thursday, July 31
12:48 p.m., Grand Portage: Trespassing
reported.
12:58 p.m., Grand Portage: Complaint
about a vehicle speeding up and down
Townsite Road all day.
2:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of an
8-year-old driving an ATV around the
reservation; it is unsafe.
6:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Inmate issue at
the jail.
7:07 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said there
are two huge campfires just south of
Temperance River State Park, and it is
unknown if anyone is watching them.
10:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud bang
reported, followed by a power outage.
Friday, Aug. 1
2:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of kids
partying at the Rec Park ball field.
4:00 a.m., Tofte: Burglary alarm at Coho
Café, false alarm.
10:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about tables way out front at Stone Harbor,
blocking the alley.
11:38 a.m., Grand Portage: Child neglect.
12:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
the driver of a pick-up truck made a
threatening motion at him at the crosswalk
near Dockside.
2:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
a motorcycle racing back and forth at over
100 mph on South Shore Drive.
2:45 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a
3-year-old boy running out into Stevens
Road in front of traffic.
4:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
vehicle parked in the turn lane off the
Gunflint Trail. The doors were open, and
the occupants were eating lunch.
4:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver cited for
exhibition driving.
6:19 p.m., Tofte: Lost dog reported.
9:28 p.m., Croftville: A series of large
booms reported, possible explosions.
9:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run at
Buck’s Hardware.
10:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a
vehicle at mile marker 121.
Saturday, Aug. 2
7:26 a.m., Grand Portage: Drug
investigation.
8:35 a.m., Grand Portage: Driver arrested
for DWI and possession of a controlled
substance.
12:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a foul
smell from the vacant lot near Bluewater
Café.
2:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog in a hot car.
4:38 p.m., Grand Marais: A diamond
engagement ring was reported lost.
5:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
woman with a dog harassing vendors on
First Avenue West.
7:35 p.m., Lutsen: A vehicle with a 25-foot
travel trailer was broken down in the
construction zone.
9:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a very
intoxicated man and woman at the Trout.
The man fell down and wet himself.
9:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal fireworks
complaint.
11:20 p.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was
found at the Legion.
Sunday, Aug. 3
12:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic
altercation.
3:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Large party with
underage drinking reported on South
Shore Drive.
9:26 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of an
unlicensed driver.
5:02 p.m., Grand Marais: An inmate was
breaking glass on the outside window at
the jail.
5:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed
concern for two huskies left in a parked
vehicle at Artist Point.
6:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
distressed dog left in a parked vehicle
behind Sister’s.
6:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Fight reported.
The caller said his wife and son are hitting
him, and one is drunk.
7:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
saw a bear walking down West Fifth Street,
heading toward town and the Rec Park on
County Road 7.
8:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a group
of boys throwing rocks at the ducks near
Trading Post.
