alarms going off.

9:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud reported.
10:19 a.m., Tofte: Fire alarm was determined to be
false.
12:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of (supposed) drug
use.

4:45 p.m., Hovland: Illegal dumping reported at the

port by Customs to deal with an American citizen with
marijuana and a pipe.
7:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was getting
calls (three so far) with yelling and screaming, and
wasn’t sure if he was being pranked or what’s going on.
10:24 p.m., Schroeder: Deputy called to remove
unwanted persons.
11:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy removed an
unwanted person from a residence.
Thursday, May 29
1:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of money and two
handguns reported.
1:51 p.m., Grand Marais: A gray and brown dog
escaped from a residence on First Avenue East.
Friday, May 30
9:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Funeral escort from St. John’s
Catholic Church to Chippewa City Cemetery.
4:31 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported a person
driving without a valid driver’s license.
4:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a smoky smell in
the area of Gunflint Narrows. Referred to the Forest
Service.
5:46 p.m., Grand Marais: An Ontario resident’s wallet
was found on Highway 61 between Hovland and Big
Bay.
10:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said kids are having a
graduation party off County Road 14 in the pit.
11:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted State Patrol.
Saturday, May 31
9:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked that a deputy
check on a semi driver who was pulled off the highway
at Coyote Ridge.
12:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that an old Suburban
was parked in the YMCA lot for over two weeks.
12:33 p.m., Grand Marais: A yellow Lab was running
loose on Pike Lake Road.
2:00 p.m., Grand Marais: A beagle named Bonnie got
off its leash on Croftville Road and was missing.
2:07 p.m., Schroeder: A suspicious man wandered into
Sugar Loaf Cove, and they wanted law enforcement to
be aware of it.
3:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was upset that there
was heavy smoke hanging in the area of West Fifth
Street.
5:01 p.m., Hovland: Missing game camera reported.
6:51 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said a man wearing an olive
green shirt, blue pants and a pony tail just walked
down his neighbor’s driveway and looked suspicious.
He had been seen earlier trying to hitch a ride near
Clearview.
8:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of high school kids
doing burn-outs on County Road 6-7, taking up the
whole road.
9:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a gas smell in the
parking lot at North House.

1:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic altercation.
1:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Public assist.
6:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to Holiday
after a large truck doored a vehicle very hard.
7:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic stop at Five Mile Rock,
citation issued.
Monday, June 2
7:03 a.m., Tofte: Power line down, and pole hit person
in vehicle at Bluefin Bay.
2:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two vehicles parked
on the corner on the yellow curb near Angry Trout,
creating a visibility problem.
3:46 p.m., Hovland: Caller who reported a large
sinkhole on Arrowhead Trail called back to say that the
hole should be blocked with lights for safety.
4:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Wallet found near the Beaver
House.
4:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Child custody question.
4:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two kids
skateboarding down the Gunflint Trail, right past the
sheriff ’s office.
5:39 p.m., Hovland: Suspicious person in Chicago Bay
Marketplace.
10:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Moose hit by a vehicle on
the Gunflint Trail just south of Loon Lake.
Tuesday, June 3
10:26 a.m., Lutsen: Driver cited for driving after
revocation, owner cited for no insurance.
10:27 a.m., Grand Portage: Predatory offender check.
12:02 p.m., Hovland: Caller said his kitchen door
appeared to be busted open, but nothing was missing
and he did not need a deputy to respond.
12:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two kids
skateboarding down Broadway from the school.
2:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a little fawn in the
alley behind Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
6:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Man arrested on an Itasca
County warrant and arrested for driving an ATV while
intoxicated.
9:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Homestead
Cooperative said he heard six or seven gunshots.
Wednesday, June 4
9:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a cabin break-in on
West Twin Lake.
3:08 p.m., Grand Marais: A dachshund was seen
running loose on First Avenue West.
5:44 p.m., Grand Marais: ATVs running on the Daniel
Lake spur trail.
Thursday, June 5
2:26 a.m., Grand Portage: An SUV parked at the lodge
was vandalized (mirrors pulled off).
6:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Two men drove off from
Super America without paying a $23 bill.
2:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Fire alarm at the museum on
Broadway.
3:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Trespassing complaint.
3:47 p.m., Tofte: Stray dog was captured and tied to a
tree.
Friday, June 6
2:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Someone pulled the valve
stem out of a tire of a truck parked at the school. The
caps from the other three tires were removed.
7:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle at
mile marker 123.
2:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance called to Cascade
State Park for a woman who fell on the trail and broke
her ankle.
7:05 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a big bear is
demolishing everything at Elder Housing, and last
night a bobcat with a baby was screeching. The caller
was worried about the kids in the area, and wondered
if a deputy could warn people with kids so nobody is
injured. The game warden was notified.
8:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about people on
Cascade Beach lighting lanterns and letting them go to
float into the sky.
9:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance called to Devil
Track Road for a man who fell on the trail and injured
his hip.
10:06 p.m., Tofte: Chimney fire reported.
Saturday, June 7
2:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of gunshots coming
from Gofer Cabins for about five minutes.
6:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver arrested for DWI.
Sunday, June 8
1:03 a.m., Lutsen: Loud party complaint at Caribou
Highlands.
4:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglary reported.
5:33 p.m., Grand Marais: A loose dog was headed west
through the Rec Park, acting strange.
