Monday, May 19
12:30 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to remove an
unwanted person from a residence.
1:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an older woman taking
garbage out of her car and dumping it at the MnDOT garage.
3:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost set of keys reported.
5:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle parked along the
side of Trout Lake Road for the last three days.
7:33 p.m., Grand Marais: A building was hit and damaged at
Grand Marais Motors.
Tuesday, May 20
10:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Unauthorized credit card use
reported.
11:55 a.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at the Border
Patrol building caused by a water main break.
1:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the stop sign at the
north end of Cutoff Road is knocked down.
3:23 p.m., Hovland: Noise complaint on Camp 20 Road.
3:42 p.m., Grand Portage: Harassment.
3:54 p.m., Hovland: Report of a large sinkhole (5 feet deep)
on the Arrowhead Trail.
5:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost purse reported.
8:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said there was a syringe on
his counter, and it wasn’t there when he left.
8:16 p.m., Hovland: Barking dog complaint.
10:13 p.m., Lutsen: Report of unattended children.
11:17 p.m., Lutsen: The shocking team on the lake was
confronted by a cabin owner.
Wednesday, May 21
3:25 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic altercation.
11:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Somebody found what she thought
was a wallet near the East Bay beach, but when she opened
it, it looks to be drug paraphernalia. It was turned in to Law
Enforcement.
3:01 p.m., Grand Marais: A key ring with five keys was found
at the Trading Post.
7:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said some cows came
through the back fence and are now in his yard near the
raised beds.
7:22 p.m., Schroeder: Complaint about a semi hauling
propane tanks driving erratically on the highway.
Thursday, May 22
3:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a semi idling near
Super America.
7:19 a.m., Grand Marais: A dog was found roaming near the
county gas pumps.
8:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of graffiti in the large culvert
north of Trailside Cabins.
9:38 a.m., Hovland: Caller said someone put pink ribbons
up on the property, but they are in the wrong location. (The
DNR was out putting up ribbons.)
1:59 p.m., Grand Marais: A medium-size bear dog that
appeared to be lost was seen on Eighth Avenue West.
6:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic disturbance. The caller
said his son was out of control.
Friday, May 23
1:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an intoxicated couple
near the Mangy Moose.
9:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Harassment reported.
9:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of someone burning trash
near Betsy Bowen’s studio.
11:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic disturbance.
12:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of drug use.
3:57 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog took off from its home on
Mort Meadows Drive.
5:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Hot-rodding complaint about two
motorcycles going up North Broadway.
8:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his neighbor removed
his fire number and threw it into the woods, the third time
he has done this.
Saturday, May 24
10:07 a.m., Grand Marais: A canoe with two occupants
tipped over about 30 feet off shore on Mile-O-Pine.
1:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large pile burning on
Cascade Beach Road.
2:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a dead deer washed
up on the shore at his house on South Shore Drive, and he
doesn’t want to keep it.
2:55 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle accident on the Sawbill Trail
near Plouff Creek.
3:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two dogs in a hot car near
Joyne’s Store.
6:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle on the side of the road near
Blue Moose.
8:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Trees on phone lines on Lullaby
Creek.
8:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of shots fired in a no-shoot
gravel pit on Lindskog Road.
Sunday, May 25
5:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from the Rec Park said he
had a feeling that a gentleman in a van with two kids was up
to something, and wanted to talk to a deputy about it.
7:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large stray dog running
around the highway near Harbor House.
11:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $95.70 from Super
America.
11:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Animal complaint.
12:32 p.m., Hovland: Threats made by a neighbor.
1:57 p.m., Tofte: Theft of property (Kevlar canoe valued at
$3,500).
3:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a car parked in the
middle of the road east of town, and a tent set up. The caller
told the people they were not allowed to camp there, but they
said they’ve been coming there longer than the signs have
been up and are “grandfathered in.”
7:23 p.m., Lutsen: Caller wanted to report wolf problems,
possibly under the building at Cathedral of the Pines.
8:04 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle stuck on Wringer Lake Road,
tow needed.
8:32 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a white motor home
passed him on the shoulder, heading toward Grand Marais.
9:41 p.m., Grand Marais: A white spaniel was found on
County Road 7.
9:48 p.m., Grand Marais: A black-and-white springer was
found near Magney State Park and put in the pound.
9:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Public assist.
11:02 p.m., Schroeder: Domestic argument at Lamb’s
Campground.
