Monday, May 5
9:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm at Sven & Ole’s.
11:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted State
Patrol with a deer that needed to be put down on the
highway.
3:54 p.m., Grand Marais: A car went through a crossing
guard’s flag at the high school.
4:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Wallet found at Buck’s
Hardware.
6:39 p.m., Lutsen: Report of smoke down in the valley
near the ski hill.
8:24 p.m., Grand Marais: An injured deer was sitting in
the southbound lane of the highway.

Tuesday, May 6
11:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported.
12:48 p.m., Grand Marais: A home was broken into.
1:18 p.m., Grand Portage: Harassment reported.
2:01 p.m., Grand Portage: Squad car stuck in the mud
on Mineral Center Road.
2:37 p.m., Hovland: Report of dogs with no food or
water, no bedding, chains around their necks and wear
marks from the chains.
6:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an aggressive dog.
7:44 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to remove
an unwanted person from a residence.

Wednesday, May 7
5:34 a.m., Grand Portage: False hold-up alarm at the
lodge.
7:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of two ponies running
down County Road 6 near Brandon Lane.
11:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to speak to a
deputy regarding a renter who was way behind on his
rent payments.
12:43 p.m., Tofte: Theft at a cabin reported.
1:49 p.m., Hovland: Someone hit a piece of angle iron
on the North Road and punctured his gas tank, then
pulled into the post office and leaked about eight
gallons of gas into the parking lot.
3:16 p.m., Hovland: A person who lost his keys in the
snow sometime in November wondered if anyone
found them and turned them in. They were not in the
lost key box at the Law Enforcement Center.
6:11 p.m., Schroeder: Power outage on Cliff Cove
Road.

Thursday, May 8
7:09 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller’s daughter wouldn’t go
to school.
7:38 a.m., Hovland: Suspicious activity reported. A pile
of clothing was found by the Flute Reed River.
11:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Phone scam reported.
3:02 p.m., Hovland: Neighbor trouble.
3:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a couple items
were missing from his safe deposit box.
4:46 p.m., Grand Marais: PUC notified of a water
problem at a rental property. Water was coming out of
the garage.
4:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone was
shooting off a firearm in the woods behind Birchwood
Apartments and the hospital, and yelling “woohoo”
afterwards.
11:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Injured deer on the highway
near Terrace Point.

Friday, May 9
12:43 a.m., Grand Portage: False alarm at Health
Services.
10:48 a.m., Grand Portage: Neighbor trouble.
8:47 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic altercation.

Saturday, May 10
4:04 a.m., Hovland: Caller said nearby dogs have been
howling since 3 a.m.
4:50 a.m., Lutsen: False alarm at the ski hill.
9:44 a.m., Grand Marais: A black-and-white dog was
seen running around in the area of the Laundromat on
the old Gunflint Trail.
10:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a large black bear
keeps returning to their deck and won’t go away.
11:08 a.m., Hovland: Tree down on power lines on
the Arrowhead Trail. There is arcing, smoking and
flaming, but the power has not gone out.
11:40 a.m., Grand Portage: Threats reported.
7:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller on Rosebush Lane said
he could see something floating about 200 yards out
from the shore, and was unsure what it is.
10:11 p.m., Lutsen: Loud party complaint.

Sunday, May 11
5:07 a.m., Hovland: Caller said nearby dogs are
howling, crying, their chains are making noise and
they’re running around.
8:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Two loose dogs were running
around Creechville.
1:01 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a deep and dangerous
washout on the Cramer Road near Dyers Lake, about 1
1/2 to 2 feet deep, all the way across. The Forest Service
was notified, but it’s not their road.
2:49 p.m., Lutsen: A cell phone was found near Poplar
River and dropped off at the LEC.
9:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said kids were pulling
a weight bench with wheels on it on Wisconsin Street,
driving west.
