Monday, March 17
9:36 a.m., Croftville: A deer was struck by a vehicle and
the caller said it needs to be put down.
10:44 a.m., Grand Marais: A citizen found a bottle
of pills and wanted to turn them in. There was no
prescription label on the bottle.
10:48 a.m., Lutsen: Stolen cell phone reported.
3:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a dog
roaming the Pike Lake access near Murmur Creek, and
it appeared to be anxious and took off running.
Tuesday, March 18
7:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Dead deer in the westbound
lane of the highway at mile marker 95.
8:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dog off its leash
and roaming East Fifth Street.
5:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle damage reported at the
corner of 11th Avenue West and West Second Street, no
injuries.
Wednesday, March 19
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: A semi was having a tough
time getting up Old Ski Hill Road and a deputy
requested sanding.
10:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that somebody cut off
the bar code from a lottery ticket and tried to cash it at
a store.
4:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Truck rollover on the highway
10 miles north of Durfee Road.
4:43 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm.
Thursday, March 20
7:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an injured wolf
about half of a mile north of Greenwood Lake Road.
10:08 a.m., Tofte: Snowmobile complaint.
1:31 p.m., Creechville: Threatening texts received.
7:04 p.m., Hovland: Caller heard about four shots near
the highway.
7:54 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a dead deer in the
northbound lane of the highway near Temperance Road.
9:56 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin Cove.
Friday, March 21
1:09 a.m., Lutsen: A guest at Eagle Ridge said a couple
guys were trying to get into their room, but they
(callers) yelled and the guys ran off.
3:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Sand was requested to be put
on the Gunflint Trail near South Gunflint Lake.
6:33 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said the highway is very
slippery, and wondered if the trucks were coming out to
plow.
6:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Minivan in the ditch near Fifth
Avenue West and West Fifth Street.
9:03 p.m., Grand Portage: The C-Store sent in a list of
gas drive-offs.
9:14 p.m., Tofte: Motorist assist near Bluefin Bay.
9:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy out on foot patrol in
the business district.
10:52 p.m., Grand Marais: A Coach bus was unable to
get back onto the Gunflint Trail from Hungry Jack.
Saturday, March 22
12:31 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy needed at the lodge.
Some guys were fighting in the lobby.
1:05 a.m., Hovland: A deputy struck a tree in the road
at mile marker 126 while en route to a call. The tree was
moved off the road and MnDOT contacted to remove
the debris.
9:15 a.m., Lutsen: Highway Department requested to
sand Ski Hill Road due to icy conditions.
9:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint regarding a
vehicle that has been left in front of Harbor House Grille
for a while, causing the plows to go around it.
11:33 a.m., Lutsen: A 17-year-old man hit a tree on his
snowmobile on the Caribou Trail, suffering a gash on
his knees and heavy bleeding.
3:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck near Croftville
Road and still alive on the side of the road.
6:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a tire in the road at
mile marker 96.
6:54 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin Bay.
Sunday, March 23
9:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there are two
vehicles parked on the highway, and he believes it is a
little suspicious.
10:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and injured near
Cascade River.
5:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to report that
a small brown dog was eating at his feeder on Eighth
Avenue West.
