Monday, Oct. 12
12:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that someone wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans just broke into his garage and stole his son’s mountain bike.
9:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a woman she didn’t know was taking photos of her while she was sitting at Java Moose reading a book.
9:47 a.m., Hovland: Report of a vehicle with Ontario plates speeding. A deputy saw the vehicle on the east side of Grand Marais, but it wasn’t speeding.
4:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a man with blond hair driving a black sports-type car ran a stop sign on West First Street, and almost hit the caller.
9:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that the mid-Trail area was glare ice. Highway Department notified.
Tuesday, Oct. 13
9:06 a.m., Grand Marais: A pink bike was found lying in the middle of First Avenue East.
10:46 a.m., Grand Marais: PUC reported theft of electricity.
10:30 p.m., Grand Marais: The Grand Marais fire chief and NSOP were called to investigate a residential carbon monoxide detector that was going off.
Wednesday, Oct. 14
6:44 a.m., Colvill: Fire departments dispatched to extinguish a woodpile on fire next to a house.
10:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at the school after a male student was found in possession of drug paraphernalia.
1:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Car slid off the road into the ditch on County Road 7 near County Road 48. No injuries, but a tow truck was needed.
3:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone busted out the back window of a vehicle and took a chainsaw. The theft occurred while the vehicle was parked at the Howl ‘N Wolf.
4:22 p.m., Grand Portage: Break-in to the Waaban Building at Mineral Center.
7:30 p.m., Lutsen: Deputies advised that a party may be held where underage drinking and marijuana may be used.
9:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that someone came to the end of his driveway on County Road 60 and tried to take some firewood.
Thursday, Oct. 15
9:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he suspected that someone was shooting BBs at his pickup truck at night because he’s getting dings in the windshield that weren’t there the night before, and he can see where the brush was trampled down near the driveway.
Friday, Oct. 16
3:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone was going around the Rec Park knocking on campers.
8:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern for an employee who disappeared after a scuffle at the bar the night before. The man was found “safe and sound but kinda marked up” and wasn’t interested in pressing charges.
1:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of a white semi with a trailer driving erratically and passing on the right shoulder.
Saturday, Oct. 17
4:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that her neighbor’s house on County Road 60 exploded.
7:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Chimney fire reported. Gunflint Fire Department and ambulance dispatched.
6:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that there was a minivan coming into town from the east going about 75 mph.

11:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Woman caller said her husband just came home from the bar and is fighting with another man in the entryway of their home.
Sunday, Oct. 18
3:03 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a loud drinking party.
7:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that there was a dead person in the ditch on County Road 14 near Trout Lake Road. The caller said the man was in the water, and his dog was with him. He was taken to the hospital by Search & Rescue.
8:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of attempted break-in that happened sometime between Labor Day and Oct. 5. Thehomeowner said a glass pane was taken off the basement window and the screen was cut, but entry was not made.
8:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of ATVs driving on the Trout Lake Road and almost hitting a vehicle. Game warden notified.
2:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A makeshift shelter was discovered on Artist Point. It had a Johnson’s grocery cart, table, chairs and a bed inside. The Forest Service was notified.
4:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle passing illegally near Cascade.
