Monday, Jan. 13
2:16 a.m., Lutsen: A vehicle was stuck in the ditch near
Arrowhead Electric, but the driver was okay.
3:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller believed there was a party
going on at Birchwood Apartments. He could see people
moving around, and someone was outside starting up
their car.
6:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and injured near
mile marker 95.
10:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle stopped in
the southbound lane on the Gunflint Trail (near Northern
Light Lake). The windows were iced up and no one was
around.
11:54 a.m., Grand Marais: The stop sign was out of whack
on West Second Street-Fifth Avenue West. It was not
facing the right direction. City Hall was notified.
1:51 p.m., Grand Marais: A semi was stuck in the parking
lot at Steve’s Sports and the trailer was blocking the
westbound lane of the highway.
3:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a drunk
person parked near the post office, staggering.
4:44 p.m., Hovland: Deer struck on the highway.
5:27 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
8:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Motion alarm at Security State
Bank.
Tuesday, Jan. 14
9:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her Siamese cat “Koi”
didn’t come home last night.
12:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a big green outhouse
in the roadway about three miles up the Gunflint Trail.
1:22 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
22-year-old man with an injured back.
5:55 p.m., Grand Marais: A pick-up truck was stalled and
unoccupied on the Gunflint Trail near Bearskin Road.
7:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a kid
wearing a white jacket and a plaid backpack heading
towards Birchwood.
7:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Three-car accident on Sixth
Avenue West. No injuries reported.
Wednesday, Jan. 15
8:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and injured on Pike
Lake Road.
11:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Threats reported.
11:49 a.m., Lutsen: Caller discovered a burn hole in his
deck at an Isak Ridge cabin. It was unknown what caused
the hole. The state fire marshal will be consulted.
4:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a neighbor
who leaves his cars running with the bright lights shining
into the neighbor’s house.
5:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Highway Department notified of
icy roads.
5:55 p.m., Grand Portage: Altercation on Store Road.
Thursday, Jan. 16
12:50 a.m., Grand Marais: The radio station’s door was
found wide open and there was snow in the hallway.
12:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there’s a
snowmobile sitting out on Pike Lake since Sunday, and it’s
starting to get buried in snow.
2:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint regarding a
broken-down truck at Fifth Avenue West-Highway 61.
Friday, Jan. 17
12:08 a.m., Grand Portage: False hold-up alarm at the
casino.
1:53 a/m/. Grand Portage: Caller said a woman is trying
to get into her apartment and is kicking and banging,
possibly crying at the side door.
8:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at the
Congregational Church to speak with a citizen who has
issues with the grader.
9:36 a.m., Lutsen: Accident with no injuries in the parking
lot at Caribou Highlands. One car was believed to be
totaled.
11:04 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
man with a back injury.
2:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a guy in an SUV was
driving with his doors wide open.
5:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost snowmobilers called from
Seagull Guard Station seeking directions back to Gunflint
Lake.
6:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Phone fraud reported.
7:57 p.m., Tofte: Fire alarm at Bluefin Cove caused by
someone who started a fire in the fireplace and didn’t
open the damper.
Saturday, Jan. 18
1:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost wallet reported.
3:38 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
woman with a head laceration.
4:14 p.m., Schroeder: Medical assistance requested for
a 58-year-old woman on snowshoes who was exhausted
and cold.
6:05 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy called to the Sea Villas due
to a disturbance caused by an irate guy who said he was
almost hit by the maintenance guy, and wanted to speak
with him.
Sunday, Jan. 19
7:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious activity. There was an
occupied van behind the co-op.
8:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run damage done to a
parked truck at Ball Club Road-The Grade.
10:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Mailbox damaged on Cascade
Beach Road.
1:17 p.m., Lutsen: Parking complaint at Lutsen
Mountains. Cars were parked on the sidewalk, causing
people to walk out onto the road.
2:35 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
5:18 p.m., Grand Portage: Theft of prescription drugs
from a home reported.
7:51 p.m., Lutsen: Hit-and-run at Lutsen Resort.
11:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Car in the ditch at Cutoff Road.
