Monday, Sept. 23
10:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Traffic warning given on
Wisconsin Street.
10:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
1:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to check out
two hunting stands on city property.
4:00 p.m., Grand Marais: An Iowa driver’s license was
found by the donut shop.
4:17 p.m., Grand Marais: A purse containing cash and ID
was found near the donut shop and returned to the owner.
5:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Trespassing complaint.
6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A passerby reported that the
lights were on and the doors unlocked at Johnson’s Foods,
and no one was around.
7:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed by a
vehicle on the highway near Devil Track River.
Tuesday, Sept. 24
10:08 a.m., Hovland: Medical issue, transport to the
hospital needed.
10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost purse reported.
12:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint. Someone
parked in front of the fire hydrant near Joynes.
8:32 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog was hit and killed by a
vehicle on Fall River Road.
9:24 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog broke its leash and was
running loose somewhere near the school.
11:34 p.m., Grand Marais: An intoxicated person was
passed out in the doorway at Aspen Lodge.
Wednesday, Sept. 25
9:29 a.m., Lutsen: Caller had a raccoon in her garage and
there were no COs available to take care of it. She was
given permission by the sheriff ’s office to take care of it
herself.
9:47 a.m., Lutsen: Fire at Caribou Highlands Resort.
11:18 a.m., Grand Marais: The radio station reported a
toxic smell coming from the back room area, kind of like
plastic burning.
11:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle hit-and-run reported
near the school.
11:53 a.m., Grand Marais: A 23-year-old woman had an
allergic reaction to a bee sting.
12:20 p.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at the
courthouse.
8:38 p.m., Hovland: Caller expressed concern about a
possibly suicidal man whom she could not find.
Thursday, Sept. 26
9:25 p.m., Grand Marais: A suspicious man with no shirt
on was walking toward the sewer plant and throwing
rocks at the hotel windows.
11:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
Friday, Sept. 27
1:28 a.m., Grand Portage: A man was trying to start a
fight at the casino entrance.
9:14 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
9:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint on First
Avenue West. The caller said a red van blocks the sidewalk
every day near the News-Herald.
11:44 a.m., Lutsen: Bee sting victim with an allergic
reaction at Lutsen Mountains.
12:33 p.m., Tofte: Malfunction with the fire alarm at
Surfside.
1:18 p.m., Hovland: Medical assist on the Arrowhead Trail
for a woman with a broken foot.
1:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he is putting in fence
posts, and his neighbor keeps digging them out.
5:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch off Bally
Creek Road.
6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch off Lima
Grade. There were no injuries, but the passengers were
stranded up there.
7:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Missing indoor black cat

reported on Third Avenue West.
8:56 p.m., Grand Portage: Complaint about a loud party
on Townsite Road.
Saturday, Sept. 28
11:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a flatbed
truck going up the Gunflint Trail dropping brush the
whole way.
2:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Residential fire alarm on
Fireplace Road.
2:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost cell phone reported.
3:15 p.m., Tofte: Vehicle off the road near the tower on
Honeymoon Trail.
4:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two trees down on
South Shore Drive, completely blocking the roadway.
5:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Tree down on South Brule Lake
Road.
7:30 p.m., Schroeder: Two vehicles in the ditch east of the
county line.

Sunday, Sept. 29
8:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Possible drug overdose
investigation.
10:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Tree down on Devil Track
Road.
2:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a guy who
came to the dog park and was screaming and swearing to
shut the dogs up. He was told they were puppies, and he
left. A little while later he returned and started screaming
again.
3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint on Devil
Track Road.
5:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a white car going 60
mph and passing cars on the right near the post office,
headed toward Canada.
5:51 p.m., Lutsen: Reported theft from a residence of an
Adirondack chair valued at $279.
