Monday, Aug. 26
12:01 a.m., Grand Portage: Four gas drive-offs between Aug.
23 and Aug. 25 reported by the C-store.
12:29 a.m., Tofte: Alarm at Bluefin Bay.
7:32 a.m., Grand Portage: Report that there was a white truck
parked outside Human Services with its windows rolled up,
and a guy thrashing around inside.
8:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Clearwater Lodge shot
an aggressive bear last night that was breaking into cabins.
Referred to a Conservation Officer.
12:36 p.m., Hovland: Report of a stolen three-wheeler.
1:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of underage consumption
of alcohol.
2:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Citation issued for speeding.
3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller had two stray dogs at her
house.
5:09 p.m., Grand Marais: A driver swerved to miss a deer and
hit a transformer near Ugly Baby.
7:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Two men arrested for DUI.
7:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy was out with a large group
of people on the side of the road at mile marker 123.
9:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and still alive on the
highway near Sawtooth Lumber.
11:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy was called to check on an
RV that was parked on the helicopter pad at the hospital. The
people were advised that they cannot camp there.
Tuesday, Aug. 27
2:59 a.m., Schroeder: Fire alarm at Cross River Heritage
Center.
3:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $180 from Buck’s
Hardware.
5:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern for a man
who lives in his vehicle, and was parked outside Java Moose.
He had been in the hospital recently for being dehydrated.
9:03 p.m., Tofte: State Patrol notified of a gas or oil spill in the
southbound lane of the highway near Chateau Leveaux.
10:32 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of kids fighting and
screaming in a neighboring apartment.
Wednesday, Aug. 28
2:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that two males at
a local motel will not let a girl go free in the basement. The
caller went to check on it but said the owner swooshed him
away. A deputy checked and the girl was found to be okay.
3:52 p.m., Grand Marais: A burning tree on Winter Wren
Road was blown over.
3:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was almost run off
Fall River Road by a red dump truck.
8:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic at Birchwood
Apartments.
11:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint about a parked
semi running near Mangy Moose.
Thursday, Aug. 29
5:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man walking on the
shoulder of the road near Cascade Lodge, limping.
7:34 a.m., Grand Marais: A bunch of trash was found on
Wildwood Lane.
9:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller requested that a deputy check
on a kid at the skate park. He was crying and saying “ow.”
9:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone was driving a
four-wheeler around the fire department parking lot.
12:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two people on Lindskog
Road, and a motorcycle on its side.
4:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his wife fell and possibly
broke her ankle on Artist Point.
Friday, Aug. 30
8:22 a.m., Grand Marais: North House reported that a
building was broken into last night, and property stolen.
5:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a storage facility was
broken into.
6:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Truck rollover on the Gunflint
Trail. A 24-year-old man from Hayfield was arrested for DUI.
7:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $104 from Holiday.
8:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $34 from Buck’s
Hardware.
Saturday, Aug. 31
12:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a guy sitting in the
middle of the Gunflint Trail with two suitcases.
12:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Birch Terrace said he
thinks a couple of guys threw a rock at him.
10:39 a.m., Grand Marais: A bag of garbage was in the middle
of the highway near mile marker 110.
11:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller’s 7-year-old was missing.
Child was found while deputy talked to family.
1:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A van was hit and damaged at the
Rec Park.
3:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle accident in Holiday’s
parking lot.
5:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large group of campers
on Fishhook Point.
10:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint about a loud
group at the campground.
11:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a big noisy
truck headed up the old Gunflint Trail.
Sunday, Sept. 1
12:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an argument and fight
in a vehicle.
1:06 a.m., Grand Portage: Loud party complaint on Townsite
Road.
1:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said would you please send
someone over to the Birch and quiet them down, then hung
up.
1:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a large group of people
were jumping into the lake near the Coast Guard station.
3:08 a.m., Grand Marais: A young wolf was killed on the
highway near mile marker 96.
8:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Clearwater Lodge said
they were threatened and had their campsite taken over by
two guys who had a handgun and threatened them.
9:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a small forest fire on
Greenwood Lake.
9:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he got toilet bowl
cleaner in his eyes, and was flushing them now.
6:35 p.m., Hovland: A logger on Jackson Lake Road said
someone stole tire chains from a skidder, valued at a couple
thousand dollars.
7:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of illegal camping on the
beach at Kelly’s Hill.
9:55 p.m., Grand Marais: A drunk person at Super America
said he needed a ride home.
