Monday, Aug. 5
8:33 a.m., Grand Portage: A person was observed
purchasing and giving beer to minors.
8:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller hit a goose and
cleared it off the road.
9:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Someone just crashed into a
van at Tire & Auto Lodge.
11:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a verbally abusive
and aggressive person at the Rec Park campground.
1:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that the
county attorney was harassing him.
3:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a person wearing
a red shirt was sitting in the weeds just off the
highway.
9:06 p.m., Grand Portage: Three wrong-turn
Canadians were stopped by Customs with a small
amount of marijuana and hash.
10:19 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a possible drunk
driver and/or probation violation.
10:46 p.m., Tofte: Report of a guy wearing a black
sweatshirt sitting on the fog line near AmericInn.
Tuesday, Aug. 6
8:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dirt bike parked
behind the News-Herald that hasn’t been moved in
several days.
10:10 a.m., Grand Marais: A female black Lab, Dixie,
took off from her owner on South Shore Drive.
1:19 p.m., Grand Portage: Possible assault reported on
the foot trail just off Bay Estates Drive.
3:12 p.m., Grand Marais: A red truck rolled over and
went into the ditch near Hedstrom’s Lumber.
Wednesday, Aug. 7
1:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud party complaint on the
East Bay beach.
12:49 p.m., Tofte: Theft reported from a housing unit.
7:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Mud bogging issues on Bally
Creek Road.
8:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that two men were
sitting in a kayak near East Bay for the last hour, not
paddling.
9:28 p.m., Hovland: A truck with Florida plates was
parked in the middle of the road for a long time.
Thursday, Aug. 8
6:20 a.m., Grand Marais: A logging truck rolled on
the Gunflint Trail. No injuries reported.
7:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
11:43 a.m., Grand Marais: A car was backed into on
First Avenue West, causing $900 worth of damage.
12:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic assault reported
at Gunflint Motel.
5:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A tan medium-sized dog
crossed the road near the water tower, and was
headed toward town.
7:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller’s daughter broke the
mirror in the bathroom.
11:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a very loud
pick-up was mudding and ripping up property on
County Road 14.
Friday, Aug. 9
11:20 a.m., Schroeder: An SUV was parked at
Temperance River State Park with a dog inside, and
no windows down.
12:15 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle rollover at Temperance
River State Park, no injuries.
9:04 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller wanted an unwanted
person who was on drugs removed from his house.
Saturday, Aug. 10
1:49 a.m., Grand Portage: A deputy was requested at
the old trading post to deal with a rowdy group.
2:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a guy with a gun
was circling a tent at the campground and hiding
behind the trees. He met them at a bar and followed
them back, and said he had a gun and was going to
pop her.
7:57 a.m., Grand Marais: A car was driving on the
bike path.
8:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of after-dark
firecrackers and a big boom that shook the house on
Sixth Avenue West.
1:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that two women
were harassing the delivery people at Bluewater Café.
6:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud noise complaint at the
campground.
8:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal camping on Forestry
Road 115.
9:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle damaged in the
Holiday parking lot.
10:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Fireworks complaint from
the Rec Park.
Sunday, Aug. 11
1:27 a.m., Grand Portage: Vehicle in the ditch near the
C-Store.
8:18 a.m., Hovland: Gas was stolen out of a vehicle on
Naniboujou Trail.
9:01 a.m., Lutsen: Someone ran into the building at
Lockport. Minor damage reported.
9:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $23.90 from
Holiday.
1:43 p.m., Lutsen: Deer struck by a vehicle near
Lutsen Resort.
3:20 p.m., Lutsen: A small grass fire on the side of the
highway at mile marker 89 was put out.
5:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic argument
reported. The caller’s husband was throwing stuff in
the yard, and she wasn’t sure what to do.
8:33 p.m., Lutsen: Threatening text messages received.
