Monday, July 22
6:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked that an unwanted
man be removed from her residence.
9:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost dog on the
portage to Cherokee Creek and Scoop Lake.
1:53 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said there were four
unauthorized collect calls from jail on his bill, and he
would like to know who made them.
2:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Woman arrested on a probation
violation.
2:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A canoe was upside-down and a
man was in the water hanging onto it.
6:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he just backed into
someone at the Rec Park.
Tuesday, July 23
8:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic dispute.
11:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud party complaint.
Wednesday, July 24
12:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck near Cascade Beach
Road.
7:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller found toilet cleaner bottles
and aluminum foil near the Dumpster at the hockey rink
and thinks someone was making some sort of bombs.
11:04 a.m., Grand Marais: A purse was found on Artist
Point.
2:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A credit card was found and
turned in at the Rec Park.
5:30 p.m., Grand Marais: A depth finder and transducer
were stolen off a boat at Voyageurs Point.
8:23 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle was backed into at the
fire department.
11:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic altercation at Aspen
Lodge. The caller said drinking was involved.
Thursday, July 25
6:26 a.m., Grand Marais: A small white poodle was found
in the construction area on County Road 7.
8:38 a.m., Grand Portage: Driver reported hitting a deer to
Customs, causing a lot of damage to the vehicle.
10:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone just
swerved into the other lane in front of the courthouse and
threw items out of the window. It might be a sleeping bag.
1:58 p.m., Grand Marais: A stray cat at the Community
Center needed to be taken to the pound.
3:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost car keys reported.
5:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said his wife sold the boat
he bought two weeks ago, and also his motorcycle.
6:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Transformer on fire on Second
Avenue West.
6:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a dog was chained
outside in the storm, and it appears no one is home.
9:39 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Surfside.
Friday, July 26
10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: A bag of garbage was found in
the middle of the road at Devil Track Road/South Shore
Drive.
12:11 p.m., Grand Portage: U.S. Customs stopped a
motorist (wrong turn Canadian) with a hash pipe and .5
grams of hash.
3:39 p.m., Grand Marais: A person was sleeping in the
Laundromat, making customers uncomfortable.
5:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Equipment parked on County
Road 7 was blocking a driveway.
Saturday, July 27
11:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported weird smells
coming from a downstairs apartment at Birchwood
Apartment between midnight and 4 a.m. frequently, and
wanted to talk to a deputy about it.
6:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Minor fender-bender in the City
Hall parking lot.
11:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud fireworks booms reported
north of town.
Sunday, July 28
8:49 a.m., Grand Marais: A small deer was hit on the
highway near County Road 7.
9:35 a.m., Grand Marais: A car was in the ravine off the
highway, and a guy (possibly intoxicated) was walking on
the road.
9:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft of an iPad worth $750
reported at Windigo.
1:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing reported.
8:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A 16-foot fishing boat with no
one on it was seen on Devil Track Lake.
9:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he parked his vehicle
by the Legion and now it’s gone.
9:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of three loud bangs along
the lake.
