Monday, July 15
8:18 a.m., Lutsen: Two-vehicle accident near Superior
National Golf Course. One car was in the ditch on
Highway 61, and there were no injuries reported.
12:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man with a dog
and bike walking west from Cascade Lodge where
there is little or no shoulder. The caller was afraid the
man was going to get hit because of the fog, and the
walker was wearing headphones and thus could not
hear traffic.
12:18 p.m., Grand Portage: Counterfeit $20 bill
received at the casino.
4:12 p.m., Grand Portage: Deer struck at mile marker
140.
7:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a homeless man
has been sleeping in the shed at the Johnson Heritage
Post.
11:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Alarm at the courthouse.
Tuesday, July 16
12:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Alarm at Gunflint Hills
Golf Course.
7:33 a.m., Grand Marais: A lost child, about 2 years
old, was found in Pine Mountain Court. The caller was
out trying to find the parents.
1:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Property dispute on Kelly’s
Hill.
1:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there may be
people sleeping in a van that has been parked on the
highway near the Legion. The van parks near the
Legion for several days, and then switches to the other
side of the road near the library.
6:02 p.m., Grand Marais: A “dine and ditch” of $40.07
was reported by a local eatery.
8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone threw
fireworks in her direction.
10:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her neighbor
came over and poured water or something on her
door. She doesn’t know what it is, but she’s scared.
Wednesday, July 17
8:47 a.m., Hovland: Report of a female bicycler who
was possibly having problems with her bike traveling
near mile marker 128.
9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Some empty beer cans and a
wallet were found at Passion Pit.
12:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Child custody issue.
4:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a person who
was trespassing on his property destroyed a “No
Trespassing” sign and is driving on the grass.
Thursday, July 18
12:34 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a woman
providing alcohol to minors.
2:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the ditch on
Creechville Road was overflowing. Numerous calls of
washed out alleys and standing water on roads were
also reported.
7:56 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said there were two
swimmers in the water, swimming toward shore about
200 yards out.
Friday, July 19
12:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of water, about a
foot deep, running across the highway near Cascade
Lodge. The creek at the Rec Park was also overflowing.
2:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a landslide on Pike
Lake Road, partially blocking the roadway.
8:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a little fawn with
broken legs on the side of the highway at mile marker
121.
8:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dog in a parked
vehicle which was in direct sunlight near the co-op.
10:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of $400 from
a downtown business.
11:18 a.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of
Department of Interior government plates reported.
11:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
12:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about
the big hole that was dug at the tennis courts and now
has filled with water. Someone might fall into it.
Saturday, July 20
10:49 a.m., Lutsen: Report of an assault at the post
office.
12:53 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog was found in the
middle of the road near 1010 Interiors and taken to
the pound.
4:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint neat East
Bay.
7:18 p.m., Hovland: Report of hot-rodding on Moose
Valley Road. Now one of the cars that was involved is
halfway in the ditch.
Sunday, July 21
2:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a party bus just
passed him and its occupants yelled racial slurs.
1:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dog left in a
parked vehicle near the Pie Place. The caller said the
dog looks warm.
4:59 p.m., Lutsen: A motorist tried to do a U-turn on
County Road 34, dropped down into the ditch, rolled
over and crawled out of the vehicle.
7:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Missing cat reported on East
Fifth Street.
11:38 p.m., Grand Marais: A dachshund ran off from a
Gunflint Trail residence.
