penalties in its Matters of Record.

Monday, Sept. 21

2:34 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a verbal disturbance involving a mother, her sisters and the caller.

5:55 a.m., Tofte: Deputy requested to check for the source of a smoky odor near the hotel. The source was not located.

9:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Alcohol compliance checks.

1:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that two men in their 30s were shooting across the Gunflint Trail, about a mile north of East Bearskin Lake. Game warden notified.

3:39 p.m., Hovland: Report that a man who seemed a little strange was telling people not to drive on Camp 20 Road because it is a private road.

3:50 p.m., Schroeder: Deputy transported a hiker with a hernia from the trailhead on the Cramer Road back to his vehicle in Schroeder. Theman was able to hike out on his own.

7:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud reported.

9:00 p.m., Grand Marais: A leather jacket was found on Highway 61 and brought in to the Law Enforcement Center. The pockets contained one regular flashlight and one headlamp.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

7:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit and run damage reported to a vehicle parked overnight in the Best Western parking lot.

11:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Child custody dispute.

11:41 a.m., Grand Portage: Report that a person who has been issued an OFP has been calling 12-15 times a night for two weeks.

1:27 p.m., Grand Marais: The owner of a property for sale discovered two marijuana patches, and asked that they be removed by a deputy. Seven plants were collected for disposal.

3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: A gray car went through the cross walk guard at the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Street when children were present.

8:40 p.m., Hovland: Report that a vehicle had flipped over in the ditch just south of Chicago Bay.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

7:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of belly dumps speeding and jake-braking at the intersection of Ball Club Road and Devil Track Road.

10:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy responded after a report that the Johnson Heritage Post was left unlocked, and nobody was around. A keyholder could not be contacted, but the deputy was able to secure the building.

2:11 p.m., Lutsen: Report that somebody went into a trailer, threw items around, broke a $27 drinking glass, and stole an $11 pineapple slicer. The suspect has left the country.

3:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Officer requested for a man who was in a delusional rage at the HDC. The man was taken to Miller Dwan.

5:39 p.m., Schroeder: Reports of fire and smoke received from two different airplanes turned out to be a prescribed burn in the Dumbbell Lake area.

6:23 p.m., Hovland: Complaint about aggressive dogs.

7:52 p.m., Grand Portage: Security alarm sounded at the Heritage Center. All was found to be okay.

Thursday, Sept. 24

11:47 a.m., Schroeder: Report that one of the coal piles at Tac Harbor was on fire. The owners said they were dealing with it.

12:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Violation of predatory offender release conditions.

Friday, Sept. 25

1:53 a.m., Grand Portage: A guest reported to Casino Security that he had been threatened by another person regarding stolen weed.

7:31 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a poached moose just north of Lunke Road. The caller said the animal’s head had been removed. Game warden notified.

7:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Request for additional squad coverage on First Avenue East before school because parents are speeding to deliver their kids to school on time.

3:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an elderly man walking up the Old Gunflint Trail near the hospital. The caller said the man looked confused, and may have come from the Care Center. A deputy checked, and the man was okay.

3:27 p.m., Grand Marais: High school reported that a student left at noon and did not return until 3:10, and missed his bus back to Grand Portage. He smelled of alcohol, and left again to wait for his mother to pick him up.

Saturday, Sept. 26

12:29 a.m., Tofte: Complaint of a loud party on Tofte Homestead Drive.

2:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of a loud party in the Rec Park.

11:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Person came into the Law Enforcement Center because he found something odd on a tree in the woods. A deputy checked the area and found nothing unusual.

12:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of someone burning garbage.

1:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle fender-bender in the Holiday station lot.

3:11 p.m., Hovland: Ambulance requested after a catwalk collapsed and a worker fell about 8 feet, breaking her leg.

4:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Two people were seen taking a moose on the Grade between Whitefish and Richey lakes. They were driving a brown pickup, and had blue tarps over the moose.

5:22 p.m., Grand Portage: Automated alarm at the Heritage Center.

10:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Several citations for underage consumption were written after deputies were called to a party at Birchwood.

11:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of fireworks being shot off on the beach at Passion Pit.

Sunday, Sept. 27

1:35 a.m., Tofte: Calls received from campers at Temperance State Park reporting that a person was caught trying to steal things from a campsite. The owner took off after the man and found a stash of other coolers the suspect had stolen.

3:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a bear peeping in the windows at Sawtooth Cabins.

1:46 p.m., Grand Portage: Ambulance requested for an elderly woman who slumped over in Ryden’s Café.
